Okay, I'll admit that Town Center at Boca Raton is not as bad as I first thought it was. I may not be coming here blowing my money, but I have been visiting a couple of stores a bit more frequently and there are a few more that have my interest to check out. There are new stores and restaurants opening soon at Town Center at Boca Raton with new stores including Christian Louboutin already open for business. Here's to many more visits.

Us gals made our way to MAC and the guys went to Starbucks to get all our drinks. It's considered a combination shopping, dining and entertainment destination and one of the newer ones in Delray. It's got a plethora of stores and about 9 restaurants as well as places for yogurt, chocolates, and candies. Some of the restaurants like Burt's have been there since it opened. And some (like Terra) are newer. A few favorites have closed, but there's always something to see while strolling the easily walkable center. At the northern end, is the movie theater and entertainment center with bowling and arcade games, etc. We had stopped for dinner with friends at Batch and then enjoyed strolling and exploring. It was a lovely comfortable night to be out and about. And a lot of other folks agreed.

Tenants include Edwin Watts Golf, Denny's (fashion), Harmon Face Values (health, beauty, cosmetics), Soon's Asian Bistro, Lee's Barbecue (grills and fireplaces), Enterprise, Progressive, Subway, Stella's (pizza), TNT Grooming, Pinch a Penny, and Pediatric Associates which I have taken my daughter to in the past. I was hoping to visit Cake Stand, a new bakery recommended to me by a friend but it was closed. One business that is unique is the We Rock The Spectrum Kid's Gym. It is a kids gym with autistic children and their parents in mind but all kids are welcome to come. Their motto is "Finally a Place Where You Never Have to Say I'm Sorry is not about what the kids do." this sounds like a great resource for parents with special needs children. The shopping center looks empty and dated but it is currently undergoing a major facade upgrade which will include landscaping, lighting, and new drive aisles for better access to the businesses. Some of the businesses only have banners for signs right now so you really have to look for them. Hopefully some new businesses will move in when the improvements are done.

University Commons was built in 2001 on 22.4 acres leased from FAU. The plaza is anchored by a very nice Whole Foods which is one of the most visited in the whole country. There is also Nordstrom Rack, Etiquette Boutique, T-Mobile, Bed Bath and Beyond, Shake Shack, J. Alexander's, and P.F. Chang's. I have been to this plaza many times throughout the years whether it was taking my daughter when she was a toddler to mommy and me play date at Barnes and Nobles, grocery shopping at Whole Foods, enjoying a quick meal at Shake Shack, or grabbing smoothies from Jamba Juice. The plaza has a large number of places to eat and it is the first place I think to go for a dinner before a Cinemark Plaza. It is hard to find a book store these days so it's especially nice that they still have the two story Barnes and Nobles where you can grab the latest best seller and a cup of coffee from the in house Starbucks. The plaza still looks as nice as the day it was built. The parking is a little wonky but there is plenty of it. Through the past 2O years University Commons as been a favorite spot to dine and shop in Boca.

If you're unable to find parking, there's a free 3-level parking garage on the north side. There is also a 1-3 bedroom residential apartment building behind the shopping center offering community amenities and select home features. There is a lot of traffic going in and coming out of Uptown Boca. For my second time being here, it appears to be a very nice area to come to shop, dine, and socialize. I look forward to many more visits.
