My neighbor had a tree cut down and without asking me had 1 large tree and 1 smaller tree dropped on my yard. I have a lawn service and it is a well manicured lawn. They also took the chain link fence down and not sure if I can put it back up as there is a pile of dirt still and huge divers in my yard that "they would take care of". I told them I had a party memorial weekend and nothing was done by them. I recorded conversation with owner saying they would fix grass and plant seed and put fence back up. Nice job ...liar. Only gave 1 star as 0 isnt allowed to be able to post. I would say DO NOT HIRE but in this case more like PRAY your neighbor doesn't hire. While taking down my neighbors tree this company WITHOUT permission drove their large equipment on our yard and OVER my flower beds. Our yard is so wet we can barely walk on it without sinking. Had they asked we would have never agreed to let them drive on it. They destroyed one of my flower beds and left large ruts and tire tracks in our yard. When my husband and I separately confronted the owner he was dismissive and never apologized. Even said oh I plant perennials at my house too, they will grow back. He then tried to defend himself saying it was a large tree to take down. Yes. Sure was, for my neighbor. They had access to her driveway to do the work. He even admitted that he never asked permission to use our lawn or verified the property lines. The last straw was when the workers decided instead of raking the yard to clear up all the mess from the tree they would use a bob cat to dig, yes I said DIG a huge trench in our yard so deep they cut our FIOS line. The workers response oh....they will fix it for free. My husband and I both work from home so we were unable to work the rest of the day. The owner never came to speak with us as I requested. The phone number listed on their trucks is disconnected. The other number is a young guys voicemail and no one returns calls. We contacted the owner, Lonnie, after he was referred by Angie's list.... his price was reasonable, he fit us in quickly, and the crew came and worked quickly and professionally. Cleanup was great. He also has an A+ rating on Better Business Bureau. Not sure if some of these terrible reviews are even the same company? In any case, we recommend you use them for your tree work. read more

I usually don't write scathing reviews but this was over the top. Read the reviews people. The owner is unrealiable and a scammy guy. My neighbor was having this company do tree and shrub trimming so my wife asked them to look at some jobs for us also. We decided to let them start with getting rid of a big trunk in our front yard. They stiffed my neighbor and us both for 2 dates. They arrived at neighbor's this morning. My wife and I walk over to affirm what they were going to do for us. Austin the owner assured us they would be over right after they finish with neighbor's work. They leave without coming over. My wife calls Austin. He tells her he has to go get another truck with a grinder and will be along shortly. 3 hours go by. She leaves him a message. The neighbor calls him also. He calls my wife back and tells her he promises he'll be over shortly. He never shows. We spend all day waiting for him to return after being stiffed on previous dates. After reading more reviews we are glad we didn't let them touch anything. Stay away from this company! read more

Update: We reached out to HomeAdvisor (who originally connected us) to mediate the dispute, and I contacted my credit card company to pause the charge until the work was completed in full. Lonnie was very friendly over the phone and eventually offered to grind the stumps and remove a remaining tree at no additional cost based on the original quote I had received from Austin; however, there was still miscommunication between him and Austin for several weeks before Lonnie offered to do this. I reached out to Austin at one point, and he seemed a bit aggravated but claimed that he was unaware of the deal Lonnie and I made. Considering they are business partners, I am confused why there wasn't better communication between them to resolve the issue and complete the job in a timely manner. I was notified that their truck was broken down for several weeks, which delayed picking up the tree limbs from our front yard. While I understand that equipment breakdowns happen and am willing to be patient, we expected better communication and updates along the way, especially since we received a violation notice from our town about the debris in our front yard. In addition, regardless of the broken truck that couldn't haul away the limbs from the front yard, the stump grinding and remaining tree to be cut in the backyard could have been done in the meantime. There were significant delays in getting the work done and it was very difficult to get in touch with him by phone. His mailbox was constantly full and did not accept messages. When we were finally able to reach him, Lonnie was very friendly and accommodating over the phone, but his promises to address the issue "tomorrow" or "this week" were usually not kept. However, he did not delay to charge my credit card minutes after his team only partially completed the job. This made me feel like he was being disingenuous during our conversations, and I think placing a stop on my credit card and seeking third-party mediation were the only reasons the job was finished. Nearly 7 WEEKS later the team finally completed the job. The stump grinding, debris haul away, and final tree cutting occurred on 3 different days and each project took less than half an hour. Waiting almost 7 weeks for a half hour job was exhausting, and delayed other renovations and projects on our end. read more

This company was cutting down a tree in my neighbors yard and where they were parked the exhaust from the chipper burned my lawn. The smoke and fumes from it filled my home. This went on for 7 hours. When I called to ask them to move the truck or find some way to stop burning my lawn they explained there was nothing they could do. They did pull the machine up about 10 ft and put a board to stop it from burning but it still didn't work. Now I have 2 burned spots. When I called a second time they got rude and sarcastic and threaten me that I better be careful on what I post. The thing is why couldn't they have turned the machine around to have it blow on the persons yard they were cutting the tree down for. Very Rude and unprofessional company with no regards to other peoples property. read more

Stay away from this contractor. Austin, the owner, is not prompt, respectful or reliable. I had to hound him to finish a job that he promised to finish two days earlier. He told me that I was just a "worry wart and that he suspected I was a nervous person in other aspects of my life."!! I'm a 53 year old woman who is not going to take that kind of treatment. I reminded him that this is a business deal and that he had promised to finish it much sooner. I also told him that his opinion of my personality had nothing to go with our business deal and was inappropriate. Work did get done, but took too much calling and complaining on my part. Do yourself a favor and find another contractor to service your trees. Avoid the disrespect and the headache. read more

Had a very large tree hit by lightening. It was leaning towards the house on Sunday in heavy rain. Called Upstate since it said "emergency" on their site. They came to look at it in an hour and cut the tree the next morning. They cleaned everything and removed the stump at a reasonable price. This is what you hope happens and it did. Thanks. read more

Contracted the owner back in Feb 2017 for tree removal. They left an 8ft long 5 ft wide tree truck on its side in my front yard ( still on my property 7 months later) Never cut the 4ft high tree stump to a zero grade and never finished the contract. They do not return phone calls, text or emails or voice mails. They do not fish contacts! read more

This is the worst business owner (Austin Drake) I have ever dealt with! No customer service etiquette at all! I had a front yard tree removed May 2019 and after paying in full I noticed the stump and roots were not completely grinded. After several attempts to get him to rectify the situation, he never came back four months later! He made several "promises" to come back but never did and now won't even answer my calls or texts, even after I told him I will be suing him! Terrible business owner, I would never recommend him to anyone else! He shouldn't even be in business with a poor attitude like that. read more
