Conflicted on my review to be honest. My experiences havnt been horrible or the best. I have been to this shop now 3 times. First time was amazing. Second and third time(s) less so. Last two times I have made appointments and arrived before my schedule time slot respectfully for the barbers time I was made to wait till after my appointment time slot. That in itself is ok people run behind, things happen no issue. The issue is not addressing it which should be something along the lines of "hello and sorry about the wait but I'll do my best to get to you as quickly as I can I appreciate you arriving on time and waiting". Today I arrived before my appointment was greeted with "do you have an appointment" by erica. I did indeed have an appointment with Jimmy (who has cut my hair twice in the last 3 months) I said yes and sat down. At no time did jimmy give me a hello or hey nice to see you again I'm running late anything like that. So I sat there for 20 minutes without anyone addressing me again. At this point Erica had finished so I asked if she had an appointment soon or if she could squeeze me in and she thankfully did indeed squeeze me in. Much appreciation for her doing so but the moment I got in the chair this is when jimmy now chooses to speak to me the first time saying he will be done in 2 minutes. No that's ok I will gratefully give my money to Erica at this point. Erica gave a great haircut was very kind and professional I'm not much of a talker but she did make sure we had some small talk going on which I appreciated already being in a sour mood from the 20 minute wait. All in all this is a very clean establishment and nice. Just have things they can work on for the appointments waiting to be seen. I can't justify the drive with a million other barbers closer to me any longer. But I wish them all the best and if they don't have a wait you'll get a great cut if they do have a wait even with an appointment you'll get a great cut you'll just wait as long as not having an appointment would be. Oh and the shop dog Max is amazing he gets 5 stars! read more

I don't review often, so it takes a solid impression for me to take this time. Upscale Barber Shop was perfect start to end. I called, spoke with Claudio, he booked me an appt for about an hour from the time I called. I showed up about 5 min early, he got to me right at my appt time. Everyone was very nice, chill music, he listened to what I wanted, stayed patient with me the entire time. I went from medium-long length hair back to a shorter style. He nailed it. Perfect place for a "regular guy" standard haircut. I told her how I liked it the first time and she cuts it just right every time. Worst fade I've ever got!!! If you're looking for a quality fade this is not the place!!!!! I literally told the guy for a taper fade and nothing else. And he proceeds to cut the back of my hair. And he didn't even give me a taper!! He gave me like a mid fade!! And the back isn't even faded he basically just cut some size from it. I even showed him a picture of a taper and he STILL messed up big time!!!! Worst damn place to get fades!!! read more

Should have guessed I was in trouble when the girl taking my appointment (Erica) had to ask my name 3 times, and finally requested that I spell it: T-O-M. When I arrived, she was overtly rude, staring at me in silence for several seconds after I commented, "Hi! Well, looks like you've got the whole place to yourself this morning!" She made sure to let me know that she was somehow hugely offended (warning #2.) I described my basic haircut and she proceeded normally, up to a point when she suddenly stopped, grabbed the electric clippers, and had her way with the sides. When finished, she did not give me a mirror to view the back, but rather spun me around facing away from the main mirror and asked me 'how that felt." When I got home I realized she had purposely botched my hair. I found another salon the next day in an attempt to correct it, and the two lady-stylists actually laughed and said one to another, "Come look at what she did to him!" I had just want a barber for 27 years in Irving and since I have been retired for 17 years I was tired of the drive in the traffic. Ever since I moved to Texas, I have tried a variety of barbers, discount and otherwise. I've sampled the numerous chains and come away with heavily clippered hair, I've tried some very upscale locations and come away with a much lighter wallet. And yet, I did not find a barber like the one I had when I was a child, a no-nonsense, to-the-point man who knew what he was doing. After trying to book an appointment at another expensive ($39) barber unsuccessfully, I decided to try out Upscale Barbers based on the recommendations of my fellow yelpers. They were right on the money: Gary welcomed me with a smile and proceeded to give me one of the best haircuts I've ever had, with the sentence "I need this messy shagginess cleaned up" as the only direction given. During the cut, I had the chance to talk to Gary, who told me he had been in the business for over 40 years! The amazing haircut was followed by another barbershop staple that you will not get from the chains or most other salons...a hot neck shave. Yes, with a barber's straight razor and hot lather. Best of all, at $15 a cut, this place is a great bargain, and exceptional value for the money. I will definitely come here whenever I need a cut. read more
