I brought in my regs and BCD for service, it had been a few years since using them. I was surprised…read morehow affordable the quoted service rate was, so I opted to have 3 regs and my BCD serviced. Turns out, the price I was quoted was just for cleaning and inspection. The person that took my gear did not explain it that way. If the service and parts price had been mentioned I would have only had 1 reg and the BCD serviced. The final price of service and parts was 4 times the quoted cost of cleaning. It took 4 weeks after dropping it all off for them ot even start to look at any of it. It then took another 2 1/2 weeks to get it finshed. The quality of the work was good, but expensive and slow.

After the boat was 10 minutes away from the pier, we started to catch fishes immediately. We ended up catching 12 within a hour. The boat was super clean. It is a fact of fishing that some days are so good and everything is in your favor and other days…read morethe clouds follow you around. Having the right equipment and knowledge how to use it and skill to maximize opportunity is the differentiator between a good trip or bad. If you're the kind of person who does not find a sunrise on Lake Tahoe and learning about the lake from a fishing perspective, fulfilling, then don't fish this lake or any other place with a guide because you most likely suck. This day was a good day. A great day. Brad had us on the fish so much that we were all hoping for some tune to rest! It really was an incredible day. I will not make an assumption on the other guides who work North Lake Tahoe but will tell you why I will recommend LTFT and Brad Bujica to anyone and everyone I know. First, equipment. We fished off an Ll welded, 24' North River with a 300hp Yamaha and 8hp Honda kicker...all very quiet and top of the line. This particular boat is a hardcore Pro setup. He has it rigged with 2 extended arm Scotty down-riggers with auto stops, a garmin at the helm and a garmin on the transom. We fished 2 downrigger rods with line counter reels, nothing extraordinary but not necessary for trolling. Brad understands and ran this setup like it is part of him. The action was fast with multiple doubles but we never tangled or were left waiting for a set up to get back in the water. Brad was solo with no deck hand but, to be honest, i feel that a hand would have lessened the experience; more work for Brad but better for us. Brad is a humble guy. He clearly knows what he is doing and made adjustments to the set up in such subtle way that all seemed to pay off. I asked a-lot of questions that I am sure he has answered a million times but he was open and honest and with a personality that is so "Sierra Chilled" that I felt like I was with a family member who really wanted us to have a great experience. (Thank God he is not a salesman because i would buy anything this dude is selling.) Finally, all of the guides on the lake will clean your fish but this guy does an incredible job with the knife. Boneless and skinned fillets that had nearly no meat loss. I mean, what a whip cream and cherries finish! I will be fishing with him on Pyramid lake in a few weeks and add another review.

Whenever I'm in Truckee, I like to kayak fish at Stampede Reservoir specifically for Kokanee…read morebecause there are less crowds, especially if you go early in the morning. However, weekdays are the best. Another advantage to getting on the water early is it's cooler. By 10am-11am, the weather is full sun and time for kayakers to go home. While boats in the Tahoe area must undergo inspection, kayaks without motors do not, but you have to know the mantra of clean, drain, and dry. Whenever I've visited SR, there has been sufficient FREE parking (an upper and lower lot) and two vault toilets. For a kayaker, the launch ramp is steep and my kayak is heavy, but I have managed over the years. For how much longer, who knows. In the mean time, strength training has been my best bet. On occasion, there has been a biologist, who counts the number of fish and checks their size, waiting to survey everyone who has used the lake. Every year the Kokanee has been different in size. In 2026, the Kokanee have been the smallest I've seen (7" - 8"). According to the biologist, these fish are a year old since re-stocking last year. During the survey, one of our suggestions was to stock bigger fish as it's challenging to make a dinner of a few small fish.

I wish they sold t-shirts! I do recommend it. But here are some caveats to consider before you go: 1. The liability waiver is nuts. There's no insurance and you cannot sue. If you do sue, then you have to pay THEIR legal fees. Wowza. Fortunately the instructors have thousands of jumps of experience each. They're very confident and have never had a fatality. 2. No bathrooms, just a porto potty. 3. The plane is tiny...think of a flying tunafish can. Two jumpers per flight only. (Plus a pilot and the tandem instructors.) 4. This place is in Minden. You DO gets views of Lake Tahoe from the plane, but you're mostly looking at mountains and valleys (beautiful) while decending. 5. Because Minden is at 4,700 feet (and your jump is from 12,000 or 14,000), it's a shorter freefall than starting a sea level. Also, the landing is faster because you're landing in thinner air then if you were lower. This was noticeable compared with the jump I did a long time ago from a spot that's near sea level. 6. The video/photo package is worth it. The pics are so/so because they're from a GoPro and distort images, but the video is an incredible memory! Again, it was a great 5 star experience, but it's important to have an accurate view of what to expect.
