My husband and I don't have family nearby, so those connections matter deeply. Every time we've faced a health or family crisis, our small group has shown up -- caring for us, walking with us, and loving us through it. We try to do the same for our brothers and sisters when they need it. The preaching is consistently grounded in Scripture, with the pastor keeping the Word at the center of every service. Notably, partisan politics have no place at the pulpit here -- something that feels increasingly rare. I go to mass to be with my Lord in an intimate way, in silence, and prayer. Here it was difficult to do that. Dominating the entire space are two massive screens which continually blare out messages - words to songs, important notifications, etc. taken together, they are far larger than the alter, the tabernacle, the priest. In fact, during mass most people are staring at the screens and not the crucifix or the tabernacle or any of the other Catholic symbols. So these modern symbols (if you will) are fully distracting and unfortunate. To make this intrusion all the more pronounced, between these two massive distractions is a very conspicuous camera. The feeling is one of invasion into my private prayer time in my private space. Why can't the Catholic mass be simple? Can we not do without screens for an hour? Are people so numb to God that they cannot memorize the Lord's prayer? Are we so stupid and passive? Is there such a need to record every aspect of peoples private life? Please remove the noise and make mass simple and reverent again.

Before Mass began, the congregation treated the sanctuary like a social gathering--laughing, chatting, and showing no sense of reverence for the Lord or respect for those trying to pray. It was disheartening to see such disregard for the sacredness of the liturgy. Even more disturbing, the visual and audio crew carried on casual conversations throughout the Mass, including during the consecration of the Eucharist--the most solemn and sacred moment of Catholic worship. This complete lack of decorum and respect made it impossible to focus on prayer or reflection. If you value reverence, silence, and genuine devotion during the Holy Mass, I strongly advise seeking another parish. This community clearly treats worship as a routine event rather than an encounter with the divine.
