I've passed by this place quite a bit when walking between buildings at work, and I always meant to stop in and try it. When I decided to meet up with a friend for lunch, he suggested this place, so I was really excited about giving it a try!
It's fairly simple. Order at the bar and take it to a seat to enjoy. They do a variety of things: quiches, salads, frittatas, salads... I had a veggie pasty and the green salad to go with. My friend went for the sausage and potato salad special. My pasty was really good and the salad was light and refreshing to go with it. My friend said his sausages were really good as well.
We then decided to get some tea/coffee and something sweet. I found out that they did fresh mint tea and I had to get it. It's one of my favorites. And it's cheaper than the other teas. So huzzah! (Unless you want a nice cup of builder's tea, that's the same price). I also had the hazelnut millionaire shortbread. Probably the best millionaire shortbread I have ever had. The chocolate was awesome, and there was a thick, runny layer of caramel. It was heavenly.
It was a tad expensive, so I don't think I'll be here every day, although it is slightly cheaper if you get things for takeaway. However, it is a great place to stop in for a sweet treat (as the popcorn chocolate cookies were also calling my name), so maybe I'll be back sooner than I think! read more
