I've been going to Dr. Garrison for years. Eliz is my hygienist. Could not ask for better…read moretreatment. My wife went to Dr. Garrison for dental surgery to remove a broken, infected tooth. Same excellent service. Could not imagine a more competent and friendly bunch.

I recently had to have gum graft surgery due to recession. Unfortunately for me, it was at my front…read morelower gum area so it was quite obvious with a big smile. I had put off my dentist's recommendations for the procedure out of fear. I received his recommendation for Dr. Garrison and now I wish I had not put it off. Dr. Garrison was great. He explained the surgery and what I should expect. I also had pretty serious recession (I think he said around 5) and it was beginning to expose the root of my tooth, so I was going to stretch the "limits" of how much tissue could really cover the recessed area. Dr. Garrison was up for the challenge. The morning of the procedure, he informed me he was going to try for the whole "enchilada". In other words, he was going to attempt what training said could not be done and cover the entire area. I was not "put under", but just had numbing in the gum and the roof of my mouth where the donor tissue was coming from. I could communicate and hear everything that was going on. I didn't experience any discomfort during the procedure. Dr. Garrison is very gentle and I didn't feel like my mouth was stretched or my lips pulled over my head. He talked to me throughout the procedure and I felt very confident that the job was being done well. I will admit, the healing process is not like a vacation, but I didn't have any bleeding at home and I didn't take any pain medication, prescribed or over the counter. The only real discomfort I had was the stitches rubbed a sore on the inside of my lip, down at the bottom and after the "putty" was removed from the roof (donor) spot, it was tender for a couple of days. Because of the sore on my lip, I called to have Dr. Garrison check it out. He took me right in and it was a little too soon to have the stitches removed so I just tried to keep my lip still as to not irritate it, rinsed with warm salt water and waited two more days. He then called me to come back in to remove the stitches and the roof "putty". After that, the donor area was the only discomfort for a couple of days. I was so pleased. The spot healed perfectly and the tissue blends with the rest of the gum nicely. I can smile and you can't even tell I ever had recession. I am so pleased with his gentle and humble spirit and with the abilities he was blessed with. His son and other staff assistants were very kind and talked me through the process, as well. He has one staff member that works at the front desk that appears a little "rough around the edges", but everyone else at the office was pleasant and friendly. She wasn't rude, she just sounds a little gruff. I would recommend Dr. Garrison for any periodontal needs.

Continuing previous review, I did pick up a paper prescription form without problem and brought it…read moreto a local pharmacy. The pharmacist told me she could not give me the medication because it was too soon to refill it! I explained that this was a new prescription, that I had been to the other pharmacy (an in-supermarket pharmacy, at a store where I do my weekly grocery shopping) only to discover that they never received it. The pharmacist learned from the in-store pharmacy that the script had indeed been called in -- the day following the day when Keowee said it had been called in, and several hours after I had been there. The in-store pharmacy did not have the medication in stock because the dentist had given the wrong form; he prescribed tablets but clindamycin does not come in tablet form, only in capsule form. So the in-store pharmacy transferred the prescription to a larger national-chain pharmacy in the belief that the larger pharmacy would have this "specialized" medication, but *without advising me.* Apparently the dentist was not the only incompetent in this drama. I told the pharmacist the story and convinced her that this was a new prescription. The pharmacist, bless her heart, convinced the other pharmacy to annul the called-in prescription so it could be treated as a new prescription and I managed to *finally* get the medication. But she did check with me as to the dentist's instructions, and I confirmed the TID on the script that I was indeed told to take it three times a day. The reason she was confused was because the prescription was for 28 tablets, which of course is a number not divisible by three. Nobody needs this kind of drama in their life, so as I said previously I will *not* be returning to Keowee Family Dentistry.

I would like to give this dentist and his staff a TRUE review WITHOUT the drama of a person that…read moreshould be writing fiction for Barns and Noble. I had lived in this area ,Oconee County, for 63 years and had many dentist appointments over those years. I had always had painful and unnecessary treatments UNTIL someone recommended KEOWEE FAMILY DENTISTRY in Seneca. My dental life was changed ( and I'm being honest) after I visited this office. Never have I been hurt with any procedure, in fact I'm always being ask if I'm ok or feeling anything. I felt respected and cared for. This dentist replaced a crown free of charge and this was after I had convinced myself the problem was from my receding gums. He saw that was not the case and convinced me it was the crown itself. A new crown ,free of charge, absolutely fix the problem. When someone tells the truth even though it means they could have made money by lying , that is someone I want on my side. When I moved out of state I pleaded with them to move with me. When you find a dentist with that kind of compassion you do not want to lose them. Fast forward 6 and 1/2 years later I moved back and even though I live in another county I drive the one hour distance there for my dentist needs. They truly are so very nice, helpful, caring, knowledgeable, and compassionate! If you dread dentist appointments like I did ( thinking they are all the same) please give KEOWEE FAMILY DENTISTRY IN SENECA SC a try and see for yourself.
