When we rang the doorbell multiple times, there was no response and the door was locked. We had to call the place a couple of times until they picked up. But when one of the staff came, she was very helpful. They told us that sometimes, the residents of the building locked the doors even when they were not supposed to, so it was not the business' fault. When we went in, there was a bunch of yarn and patterns. All in all, I would rate it 5 stars because the business was not responsible for the issues we experienced.

The selection here is pretty great, superior to Green Earth, but inferior to Akashas Den in Oakville. However, the prices of certain crystals are way cheaper than I've found anywhere else. I'm still mad at myself for not picking up the Optical Calcite they have for 4"x2.5"x1" for $4 ($20 most places) They have some very unique crystals I've never heard of, so that was interesting and their jewelry is at a very good price. The two woman I met working at the store were extremely friendly and pretty knowledgable. Which is a big deal when it comes to crystals, you don't want someone giving you the wrong information just to make some money.

Niagara-on-the-Lake is a all about the shopping, history and lake time (it's named for a reason!); and as far as shopping goes, Irish Design should be one of your stops. Beautiful store chalk full of Irish (no surprise there!) products, many made from beautiful Merino wool: socks, hats, blankets and the most beautiful, thick sweaters you've ever seen. Also, a large assortment of scarves, jewelry and all your Irish needs. Whether you're looking for a present for yourself or someone else, if you're willing to open your pocket book VERY wide, this might be just the stop for you. Like most of the stores directly on Queen Street (the main drag in Niagara-on-the-Lake), Irish Design has its prices set high. Although, they DO have a "sale" section and remember, everything is listed in Canadian dollars. They accept credit, cash and US currency and have a lovely tea room, which I did not visit, in the back of the store (bathrooms only available for tea room patrons, no public store washroom!) Irish Design is also located near the [shopping] end of Queen Street, right before the residential strip, couple shops over from King George Theater. Great hours, opening at 9:30am during the weekday. Overall, a cozy shop and unique enough that it should be on your list of places to visit.
