UPDATE - FRAUD WARNING When we were researching basketball…read moreteams for our son, joining an AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) affiliated team was a top priority. The head coach fraudulently misrepresented that his was an AAU program. He enticed us and took our money, charging us for a full season up-front, then immediately dropped our son's team from participating in any games, when we started to question the "league games" that consisted of primarily playing against the same one or two teams. There are plenty of legit teams around. AVOID THIS FRAUDULENT ONE AT ALL COSTS, and spread the word. (See attached email pics) --- ORIGINAL REVIEW: BUYER BEWARE A short while after our kid had joined the Warriors team and played some games and scrimmages, we realized they had played multiple times against the same, much more advanced team, losing by 20-30 points each game. Other AAU teams make it a point not to play the same team twice, we have since learned. It is a big league, after all. After hearing numerous parent and child complaints about this one day, I emailed the coach, asking if the Warriors had plans to play against more evenly matched teams--or ANY other teams, stating also, "I agree winning shouldn't be the main focus, but I also know our child is not the only player who is disheartened, losing by so many points every game. It's just not an even match with that particular team." The head coach, Conrad, responded by canceling all our child's games "until further notice", and refused us even a partial refund. Then he claimed that all we cared about was winning (not true at all). He also falsely claimed that we had major concerns about our son's playing time, when we had never remotely raised any such concern. Despite being given multiple chances to do the right thing, clearly head coach Conrad was reaching for excuses to justify his operating in bad faith. What child would want to practice on a summer team that doesn't play any games--especially after having previously participated in the games? When I suggested the coach should take accountability for putting our child in a position to want to search for another team to join, he instead deflected and completely distorted the facts of the situation, and hid behind a "no refunds" policy. So be it, but the community should be warned. We did not press the coach for a refund for the team jersey once he stated his policy; however we felt that it was ethically questionable to discontinue our child's games shortly after charging us $100 for a uniform--and not to offer any partial refund for unused future practice time in good faith, despite HIS decision to cancel the games on our child. We did share what the consequences would be, if our request for a partial refund was denied, for unused practice time starting after Conrad canceled our child's team. When Conrad failed to respond, we eventually had to put a deadline on the response before taking this public. As stated above, there were multiple chances for this coach to do the right thing. We have been involved in many sports with different coaches, and this is the first time our child has ever reported feeling that the coach's style was abusive--specifically the head coach. There were times during practice when our child asked what he had gotten wrong during a drill, and, instead of teaching or correcting our child--the coach just screamed at our child to go to the back of the line. We also witnessed another child fall and slam his head against the concrete block wall of the gymnasium one time, crying afterwards--with very little, if any, concern shown by the coach. Avoid this basketball club. It is not well organized and the communication with parents is poor. The head coach does not embody the values he claims to impart on young, impressionable students of the game. He'll gladly take your money when the team is clearly maxed out beyond reasonable capacity, and won't think twice about kicking your kid to the curb, if you raise a simple concern.

I tagged along with a dear friend so she was able to hang out with her bestie and her family as one of their sons was playing a game with the East Valley Youth Baseball league. It's been decades since I last watched a youth baseball game of any level, so I was kind of excited. As a kid, I played all three levels (e.g. T-Ball, Little League, Babe Ruth) at the time where I grew up. Unfortunately, neither of my nieces played softball nor did any of my close friends' kids, so the only baseball diamond I've been to with regularity was Dodger Stadium. Would I get all of the feels as I watched today's youth play baseball in the East San Fernando Valley!? PURCHASE Root Beer Soda Fountain Drink 16floz Cup ($1.50): I normally didn't drink soda, but whenever I did, it was usually root beer or something along the lines of the lemon-lime variety because neither of them have caffeine. I couldn't tell which brand of root beer this was, but it did the job as it helped to wash down the hot dog I bought. I would've preferred less ice, so that was my fault for not telling the person at the concession stand. Pure Tea Unsweetened 16floz Bottle ($2.00): I ended up saving this for later since my root beer was more than enough. I preferred this healthier tea and certainly didn't need any sweetness. All Beef Large Hot Dog ($4.00): When at any baseball game, you had to have a hot dog (I also wanted Cracker Jacks but they didn't sell it!). This long skinny beefy dog held me over until lunch. Although I usually liked my dogs covered in onions and relish, I went simply and just splattered ketchup and mustard. The bun was short (as usual) and fluffy. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=G63B9HKkFSX5zRgsVrHoDA SERVICE Other than the folks who worked the concession carts and stands, there wasn't any other source of service being offered - 'nuff said. PARKING (FREE) There was a wealth of parking albeit somewhat narrow lanes and in some cases dead-end pathways, so maneuvering was difficult at times as well as having to watch for kids running all over the place; it was like a minefield - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE This large complex had I think at least four baseball diamonds, several arteries of parking lots and paths, and several concession carts and stands https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=0QKu-I1Ii08-dM9Rm_Xtjw to get your grub on. Each field had its own set of covered wooden bleachers, empty park benches and tables for post-game treats, and I saw at least one drinking fountain. Plenty of natural lighting (duh... you were outside!) while big bright lights filled in the rest once the sun went down. There weren't any TVs or background music unless you counted the sounds of balls being hit and the chatter of kids encouraging their teammates. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=l0U4x0uJ2H_Y1ZnSzOHpUQ ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL I was happy to have taken in an East Valley Youth Baseball game and rooted for my friend's friend's son as well as the rest of the kids out there playing even for an hour or so instead of being focused on a small screen while they sat on their asses! As much as I enjoyed myself, I couldn't say I would take in another game unless the identical scenario presented itself again. I didn't want to be a creeper or anything like that! It was nice to be outdoors, the game was entertaining, the concession prices were more than comparable, and it was just a relaxing morning. Every parent should sign their children up for sports and why not start with this league!? I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL would-be paid experience was around $7.50 BEFORE any discounts/tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 5.0 STARS

From the president down to the coaches. We won a few games and lost a few games vs various teams from East Valley. Whenever we went their facility they were always warm, respectful and inviting. The coaches always played a fair game and never tried cheating. Which is huge imo. I have been coaching since my son was 5 and the amount of cheating by adults for a sports youth league is minding blowing. This is the reason I decided to take time and review a great organization like EV Baseball.

Six courts and they are all lighted!! -Courts aren't totally trashed. May find abandoned tennis metal lids, leftover snacks, and a trail of ants near the benches but get cleaned at some point. -Useable filtered water fountain that has come in handy during hot days -I've been safe. There are homeless in daytime but they do gather around and prowl at night. On a random night, I played here close to midnight- 2am and I wasn't bothered. Cons: -Super long wait times to get a court -a lot of homeless. I've never been harmed or too bothered. I've had a few flashes of unclothed people. -The ambiance can be a bit whack depending on the type of people around. You've got normal people just wanting to play tennis, old folks that play here all the time and want to coach you, coaches expecting you to leave the court mid-game so they can do their private lessons (which is not allowed because I called the city and coaches need a permit to hold lessons here! Only 1 coach has a permit and he's at the last court, always). Players who yell, cuss, and play explicit loud music on their speaker... -Real world vibe. I've had a few arguments at these courts too which has caused me to not come as much/ call the city. I normally keep to myself and only come here to practice by myself since it's most convenient.

It's a huge park and even has a new baseball field being built. It had a skatepark and a nice playground for them to enjoy. The bad: it is full of homeless people, and the issue has yet to be addressed. They just sleep anywhere in the park, which I get is common at parks, but this park is just crawling with them. The worst part is they openly do drugs in front of people, and not a single thing is done about it. There's a lot of trash everywhere, and I have seen very sketchy people just hanging out around the area. I have my concerns with safety and usually keep my kiddos incredibly close when I take them here. I think the city needs to do a huge cleanup, and if successful, it can be a huge asset to the community. Nonetheless, the recreation center offers a lot for my kids to do, and we do take advantage of it, like today's Easter egg hunt was a blast!

I'm…read morean extremely tough critic, and I literally have nothing bad to say about this outstanding organization. If you're looking for a league for your son, please take the time to read on. My son has been playing youth basketball since he was 7 years old. After becoming tired of city funded "leagues" and their revolving door of coaches, we found L.A.Kingz and the incredible Coach Alex and Coach Chris. Incredible doesn't even do them justice. My son was ok, pretty good, but needed direction and work. Coaches Alex and Chris are able to connect with every player on an individual level to determine how to bring out the best in them, and that is exactly what they did with my son. My son was also a bit shy at first, and within a few months, he was connected with his teammates, outspoken and happy all of the time. It was so beautiful to see. Words just can't explain the joy I have as a mother watching him shine. If my son was ill or slightly injured, he would tell me, "Mom, I have to get better soon, I can't let my team down." My son is an only child, and in this league, he found a brotherhood of wonderful and supportive young men. There is so much to this league. So much. My son is now 14, AND HE IS a BEAST ON THE COURT, a defensive instrument that completes the titanic machine that is his L.A.Kingz team and league. It's unbelievable how these coaches are able to bring out the best in these kids. That said, it does mean that these players must commit and work hard. One must show this dedication, and in return, he will become the best he can be. I attribute my son's physical and emotional well-being to this phenomenal league. I could go on gushing about all of the amazing times and moments my son experienced, but this review is getting a tad long. If you're looking for a league, please give L.A. Kingz a shot (no pun intended) Thank you so much to all of the coaches and all of the wonderful parents who make this program, IMO, the very best in So Cal. My son is a shining star in sports and his overall well-being thanks to the L.A.Kingz league!

I first…read morestarted with my now 8 year old in 2018 and now have a 3 year old in class too, they both adore their classes, the games they play. What really sets GB Soccer apart is their top notch coaches. Every one of them we have had (which has been many over the years) have been lively, engaging and truly passionate about what they do. It's clear that they genuinely care about the kiddos, improving their skills and knowledge on the game by playing games they find fun. The kids don't even realize what skills for soccer they are actually gaining from the games/drills as they are just thoroughly enjoying themselves. We stepped out one year to try AYSO which we were severely disappointed by. Then GB Soccer started their Coach and Play sessions which is a similar idea of a practice and then a play each week and we came running back. My daughter immediately improved and learned so much about the rules of the game....where players' positions are and where they're allowed to travel, who throws the ball in etc. That class was a game changer. I feel it would be a good stepping stone to a league. I have always been lucky enough to have pre school friends (for both kids) who jumped on board when suggesting a private group class which my 3 year old now gets to experience. I feel this gives them confidence in the class by being surrounded by friends and just an extra bit of joy playing the fun games with buddies plus it's with parents you know. On the flip side to that I also see how GB fosters friendships and teamwork among the kids even from a young age, they are taught to shake hands after a 'one v one' and have good sportsmanship with each other. I firmly believe that the lessons they learn in group sports such as soccer are vital skills for life. Whether it's teamwork, communication, or perseverance, these are skills that will serve them well in any endeavor they pursue and I truly see these lessons bought to these classes from GB coaches. Thank you GB!! We appreciate you and your fantastic coaches!
