In the past 6 yrs I've lived in the area, I have seen a fast decline in this store and will probably never return after my recent visit. In fact, I fail to see how their doors are still open as the location looked as if they were going out of business. Their prices have always been way too high, & the customer service is lacking in basic mannerism. Yet the most annoying part about my visit is the barren shelves. Almost every single ail was completely empty! If you're looking for fairy/dollhouse supplies- forget it, they had all of 5 related items. Need paper craft supplies for quilling, stamping or embossing; you wont find it here. Seasonal craft projects or decor... down to 2 sections of 1 shelf at best. I honestly did ask the cashier if the store was closing, she said " No, it's a restocking day" but it was hard to tell from the looks of things. They never have what I need but since Pat Catan's was bought out and Hobby Lobby goes against my personal beliefs this is the only choice that's close to home. Huge disappointment!

After expansion, in 1963, the name was changed to Jo-Ann Fabrics. The store's name was created by combining the names of the daughters from both families: Joan and Jacqueline Ann. This location is their headquarters. You can find more info on the internet. I found the controversy Jo-Ann's became involved in during Covid very interesting. Jo-Ann Stores, LLC, known as Jo-Ann & JOANN, is an American specialty retailer of crafts and fabrics based in Hudson, Ohio. It operates the retail chains JOANN Fabrics and Crafts. I've been shopping at Jo-Ann's for so many years I can't count. My favorite stores were in Florida where we had many locations near my home. Now it's not as easy to get to a store in NYC. My Mother was a seamstress and all of my Aunts sewed. I would get the material that I wanted and they would sew for me. Now I am fortunate to have a daughter that inherited the love of sewing. She's good at it too! We still get our fabric from Jo-Ann's either in the store or online.

During the pandemic, it was often tricky to get the merchandise locally, or at least to do so in a timely manner. That's when I started ordering online. Since things have gone back to mostly-normal on the in person shopping experience, I don't do as much buying on the website to ship to me. What I do, though, is usually purchase on the website and have the option of shipments when the local stores don't have enough stock, or if the items are online only. When I use the website I get a discount from Rakuten, plus additional coupons that are only for online ordering. That all being explained, I'm on the website fairly frequently. Shipping is often reasonably quick, so that's a plus. What I am deducting a star for is the website itself. It's often slower / clunkier than an ideal site. It will do things like up the quantity of what I'm ordering. I've learned to check the online cart very carefully before I finish the transaction, because when I want a quantity of one, due to the performance of the site, I may end up with two or three instead. Once the order goes through, the fulfillment can be hit or miss. Not sure if that's on their computer systems globally, or the individual store. I suspect the former. I've had orders confirmed, only to have items cancelled out before it's actually time to pick up. That gets frustrating! I just placed a new order this evening. We'll see how much of what I ordered will actually be available for pick up. Fingers crossed! Wish they'd turn some tech gurus loose on fixing the glitches in the ordering system. That would be amazing, and would help restore more faith in the company to their shoppers.
