It was 1.50 euro for a pastel de nata and it paired beautifully with a meia de leite (flat white). The pastel de nata was more custardy and the crust wasn't as flaky as I imagined, but I really enjoyed it!

I thought that was for sure it until I discovered them in Porto as well. These guys primarily sell one thing, and it's the same everywhere. Clearly they like their formula. Obviously, I had the pasteis de nata. Curiously, at this location specifically, they refuse to sell a single one and instead sell in groups of two. This one was not my favorite. The pastry shell does have a good crispness and flakiness to it, but the problem is the inside is just way too sweet. The custard is just sickly sweet - such that it simply doesn't work with the egg flavor. It seems to be a problem unique to this chain, as I haven't noticed this sweetness anywhere else. Overall, I would look elsewhere for pastel de nata. 5/10

The wait is rather slow but understandable. They have a full menu from breakfasts to dinner as most restaurants and cafes here. I think the prices are very reasonable and the portions aren't ginormous compare to an American dining experience that I'm accustomed to. I tried the plain grilled cutttle fish with ink which, comes with their version of white rice. It tasted as i expected. It didn't have extra oomph in flavors. I think they stick with the basic salt and nothing else as seafood I think, can be left alone as plainly salted. No surprises or extra presentations but looks and tastes good with cold beers. Cleanliness is at par and inexpensive.

You can either just go to the counter and order pastries to go, or choose to sit at a table. We decided to get a table. After a short wait, you're escorted into a large dining area with table service. We obviously ordered their famous pastry. In addition, we also ordered a Travesseiro and a Mil Folhas. While the Pastel de Nata's were excellent, I'd definitely recommend ordering the Mil Folhas, which was so delicious! The crust is just so light and flakey! Make sure you know what line you're in because the long line is typically the one into the quick counter and I wanted to see the beautiful main counter, which was the middle line. The line for tables obviously is longer but honestly, if you're just grabbing one or two, you don't need to do that. We got ours and ate them standing in the main counter area, which was absolutely beautiful. Make sure you add a little sprinkling of powdered sugar and cinnamon. A Portuguese woman actually made sure I did that when she saw me about to eat it!
