Next year when they try to rush you to renew your lease, do not do it. Wait for later time. We stayed there for last school year, early this year, they used trick to make us believe it is in high demand and asked us to renew as soon as possible, with rent increase from 824 to 889. However, now they are leasing the same floor plan for $800. They also slap some non-sense fee like $125 Confirmation Fee (I do not know what it is). I won't renew this place next year. read more

Do not live here. They lied about being in high demand and urged us to sign early. We did. They dropped the price by $100 come spring time and still have empty apartments. We see why now. They will ignore you if you have an issue. We have had multiple issues and if you email they will ignore you. I had a safety issue due to a maintenance error and Javier Roscoe (property manager) ignored my email for upwards of two weeks. The only positive is that the people in the main office are nice. It took a month and a half for maintenance to fix requests I entered on move-in day. It smells like weed everywhere. Outside, in the halls, in the apartments, weed. You can hear very clearly the other tenants. Little to no sound proof of units. We can hear clearly music from other apartments, stomping from above, and you can hear EVERYTHING from the hallways as the door is practically paper. Our front door frame has a large gap in it so big that it is visibly noticeable. The Wi-Fi goes off often. You can hear the train often. The horn is very loud and has woken me up a few times. They did not properly clean, we found loads of dust in vents and hair in fridge and food splatters on the wall on move in day. There was a thick stench of weed when we moved in and maintenance only sprayed Febreze and then dipped (it still reeks of weed). They will pressure you to sign, don't. University Crossings apparently has it better. read more

I live in 1225 and it is currently being renovated and had to be out super early! I had no where to go so I came to sit in the club house. I had to use the bathroom really quickly so like I always do to get to the gym, I walked through the office. Usually if it's closed the doors are locked and the door leading to the clubhouse was open! So naturally I assumed it was safe to walk through, especially since it says they're open online as well. The lights were off, but I thought nothing of it and assumed it was just early and the workers wanted ambiance. Once I got to the door leading into the bathrooms, it was locked so I walk out towards the ones that lead to the pool and back inside to the door that leads directly to the bathrooms. Before I could even reach the door an employee came and essentially started yelling at me that I don't need to be walking through the door and to not do it again. I was caught completely off guard and do not think I should've been met with that type of hostility and believe that said employee should apologize. Especially given the living situations that we are having to deal with and that it was just an honest mistake. She then decided to walk past me 2-3 times and not say a word. read more

University Walk was an absolute nightmare. I have lived here for two full school years and it has been one of the most vile, frustrating experiences of my life. When I was first moving in, I had a squatter in my room that I had no idea about. I was meant to move in on August 17th, and on August 16th I got a call from someone else living in the apartment informing me of the squatter situation. I then called University Walk and they admitted that this was true. It was the DAY before move in, and they didn't feel it important to call me and let me know. If that current roommate didn't text me, I would have driven 10 hours down to North Carolina without knowing that I would essentially be homeless for almost two months. Don't worry, though. That period of time when the squatter was still living there and I had to stay in an Air BNB (that they reimbursed me for through gift cards?), University Walk still charged me rent! I wasn't even living in the apartment and yet I still had to cover the cost? Ridiculous. Not to mention how absolutely useless the entire management staff was and how incredibly rude to me they were during this entire fiasco. When they did finally evict the squatter, they made me sign a paper saying I would take the room as is. If I didn't sign it, they wouldn't give me my key to the room that I had already been paying rent for and that I had been on the lease for. The room was DISGUSTING. My roommate and I spent days cleaning it and even then it still felt dirty. University Walk was kind enough to freshen the paint up. However, when they did this, they just painted over the person who lived before me's hair, so her hair is still encased in the walls. Moving on to the apartment itself. Nothing works and everything is in horrible condition. When we first moved in, the leather on the couches were all peeled off, the dishwasher didn't work, and everything was basically in shambles. There is such a severe roach problem too. The minute the weather gets nice, look out. You will be killing roaches every second, especially if you're on the bottom floor. I have looked at past reviews and am not shocked in the slightest to see that people as far back as 2018 were complaining about roaches and yet, University Walk does not seem to care at all. Their main concern is getting as much money possible from their residents while ignoring their requests. The walls are incredibly thin so watch out for that. The maintenance people are all very nice, but very useless. Our light broke in the kitchen and it took them close to a month to fix it and even admitted that they forgot all about us. Our AC has been broken for over a week (it is 80 degrees out) and not once has someone come to check on it. University Walk will also make hundreds of claims that they are going to renovate your apartment, but always double check that because most of the time they are lying. They will also close amenities for extremely long periods of time, then tell residents that University Walk does not owe them these amenities, so to get over it. The gates are more often than not broken. The cameras you see all over the parking lot don't actually work, so don't feel protected by them. The only positives I could even begin to give this place is that it is close to school and the students who work in the office are incredibly kind and helpful. Other than that, anyone who is thinking of living here, look elsewhere. University Walk is the absolute last place you should live. read more

When I first moved in my room and the common area were not cleaned at all (old food still in the fridge, apartment smelled extremely bad, a lot of nats flying around, my bathroom was FILTHY, stains all over my bedroom wall, and trash in the living room). Not only that but the dishwasher didnt work and it took them a whole 2 1/2 months to fix it. Then later on our dryer literally exploded and started a fire. We had to go a whole 3 months without a dryer which was super annoying because we'd have to walk to a friends house with a bunch of wet clothes. The A/C never worked well, we'd set it to 70 degrees and the house would still be 75-80 DURING THE SUMMER and supposedly theyd come fix it but it'd always go back out. Then one day I plugged my phone into the outlet in my room and BOOM the outlet blew up and it fried my phone, so I would've thought they would've gave me some leniency but no it was my fault I didn't have insurance so they gave me no reimbueasement AND I had to pay for a whole new phone...at first I was going to hold my tongue and not leave a review but I think it's only fair to let y'all know how my experience was here...if you have other option, LOOK INTO THOSE FIRST!!! Oh I also forgot to add our microwave stopped working for a period of time as well. The students working in the front office were great and the amenities were cool but the head staff and everything else was TERRIBLE!!! The reviews do not lie. I would say the only pro is the location, it's right across from campus (closest walk from any student living other than the edge) and right next to the halal cart. That's about it lol. read more

There was some sketchy stuff with the utility overage that I had my suspicions about, there is no way we went over as much as they charged us. Not to mention the charges were weird consistent numbers, which makes me wonder what else is going on there. However, I do know that they will do anything to squeeze you for your last penny. I have lived in other complexes before and so I know the drill on utility usage. Half of us had already moved out and half had were hardly home for the summer. Of which was verifiable through social media, so I could not figure out how we owed so much money when nobody was home and the same goes for winter break. When I called to ask, they gave me a scripted response and then called me back to tell me that they messed up and they needed more of my money. Now this was AFTER I had asked and verified that I did not owe anything. I emailed for a breakdown to see if they have been overcharging, since there are so may discrepancies, but we'll see if I actually get one. The people at the desk also seem to always be in the dark and have to ask someone else for help at their job. It seems dysfunctional and disorganized which for how much I pay, it should be of a higher standard. Not to mention half the time the information the desk gives you is INCORRECT. As a paying customer, I was quite angry that the staff didn't care to actually try at their job and I kept hearing ten different answers from them and never an apology for wasting my time. Ugh, it was quite FRUSTRATING because these people are quite difficult and all they know how to do is read the script in a loop. Security wise, the walking gates also don't lock half of the time and parking is taken up by visitors, since towing is not actually enforced. The printers also did really not work in the study area for some reason. There was just more issues here than positive experiences, which is why I would NOT recommend. From the outside, this place looks great, but it is kind of a disappointment when you actually live there. I probably should have gotten on here and read the reviews before making my decision to live here...I'm not a fan of writing bad reviews but others need to be aware when making their decisions. :( read more

One of the worst experiences of my graduate life. Extremely uncourteous staff, tardy and delayed responses to maintenance requests. Used to face Unpredictable internet outages that didn't get rectified for days. The office also refused to share the gate access code so all food deliveries had to be personally answered, as we had to walk almost half a mile from our apartment to the front gate. I lived in this apartment for a year and there were plenty of good things, but also, plenty of bad. Pros: Great location - right across the street from campus Cheap Tons of amenities - pool, gym, sand volleyball court, etc. Free parking Fully furnished Friendly staff Cons: Did not feel safe - on more than one occasion I found bullet casings by my car in the parking lot Not very updated - upon move in, we had issues with multiple appliances and an issue with cockroaches as well as many damages (ie. stains on carpets, deep scratches and scuffs in furniture, dings in the walls) Overage fees - almost every month we have had a $20+ overage charge on utilities (which the leasing office is not able to disclose exactly what utilities you are using more of to cause the charge), we did not use our utilities frivolously so it was difficult to understand why we were being charged so much each month Maintenance of property - I love the way the apartment complex is set up with plenty of outdoors space, however, there is often trash littered everywhere and unmaintained landscaping Communication - often when there was an issue with the apartment, messages would not be passed along to the correct people or in a timely manner making problem resolution extremely difficult My apartment at University Walk served its purpose and I, for the most part, had a good time living there. However, you get what you pay for as it is one of the cheaper apartments to live in that are right across the street from campus. read more

I lived in the same apartment at UWalk for a year and a half up until a few months ago. It wasn't the most updated apartment in the area, but it kept me humble and served its purpose. Maintenance and staff were always nice and helpful...up until a few months ago. Mind you, I moved out in July. July 25th to be exact. On September 30th, I received an email saying I had a late balance. (First of all, I knew nothing about this balance until this email, so how could it be late.) I call them to see what exactly the charges were for. The person who answered told me to reply back to the email, so I did. I emailed Chelsey (who sent the original) and she promptly replied that it was for overage and a ripped up couch. I was fine with the overage. Okay, that's fine. The part that made me upset was the charge for the couch cushion. The couch was raggedy when I moved in. To top it off, I documented it on the Room Condition Report when I first got there. I told Chelsey this, even sent her a picture of my copy of the RCR, and she asked me if I turned it in when I moved in. I told her yes. And after that, no reply. I emailed the email I had for someone else who I knew (used) to work there (Taylor). I assumed she didn't reply because maybe she no longer worked there. At the end of the day, it's not a bad place to live. The part that concerns me is the lack of communication and that my question wasn't taken seriously or into account. 1st apartment got my kid sick from 36,000 mold spore count. I had to fight them to get him moved. The lease has a mold rider in it!! Be aware! Take photos of everything moving in and out. phones have the date & time stamp info stored. They tried to bill us for cushions on the couch & chairs in an apartment we just moved into. Don't live here!!! When you move out they stick you with a huge bill for ridiculous reasons. They charged us full carpet replacement value for a few spots on the carpet. They lied and said the carpet was only 1 year old. It was probably there since the beginning 10 yrs. They would not show us invoices to prove they replaced the carpet. Living here is honestly great! you have everything you need, gym, pool, volleyball courts, and great maintenance people to get the job done if something goes wrong. The people in the leasing center at the front desk are always very helpful and have a smile on their face when you go in there with a question. The apartments are very fair priced and super close to UNCC campus. The apartments themselves could use some updating but other than that they are spacious and clean so I'm a satisfied resident! read more

The people at University walk were very helpful. They helped me when I had no other option and were very kind and easy to work with. I needed an unfurnished, pet friendly apartment, by the end of the month and they helped me get that, as well as wave my $350 pet fee. The office staff is nice but so unprofessional and not knowledgable. The front desk workers are all students and have to ask the managers a question about basically anything and everything. I lived here for 2 years in which I was randomly placed with roommates that were no where close to my age. When I moved in at 18 I had a 29 year old and 25 year old roommates. After both of those roommates were unable to pay rent and moved out I was placed with another roommate and she had already graduated but shortly became pregnant and moved out. I then was placed with another girl who ended up stealing 600 dollars worth of my stuff from the living room and laundry room (common areas.) My other two roommates were my best friends and we have now moved out and got a place together (nothing has gone missing since). My point is there was no other option of who was stealing from us and all University Walk did was invite us into their office to have us all sit down and learn how to cohabitat. My roommates and I had no other issues with this girl besides the fact that she kept stealing from us, even after confronting her on multiple occassions. The office was rude to us and did not do one thing for us besides having us sit through that dumb meeting where we each told our sides and they told her that she could continue living with us for the remainder of all our leases. I would NOT suggest University Walk because everything they tell you about switching roommates if there is a problem is not true. This was not a petty arguement between roommates about dishes being in the sink, 600 dollars worth of things were stolen from us and the office wanted to sit down and talk about how we can continue to get along and live together. read more
