Well, Macy's just announced they are closing their store in this mall. That just about drives the last nail in the coffin.

During a recent visit down to Cape Girardeau I decided to make the drive to Lamberts for lunch. As…read moreI got off the highway I noticed that there was a sign for the Sikeston Factory Outlet Stores and figured that I could make a quick stop before getting back on the highway and heading home. I should have just passed on by and saved myself the time, because the the selection here was extremely limited to only a handful of stores. Stores were pretty much limited to VF Outlet, Kitchen Collections, Rue 21, Famous Footwear, Dress Barn, L'eggs/Hanes/Bali/Playtex, and G.H. Bass and Co with the remaining storefronts either sitting empty or taking on a beauty shop, and school of cosmetology. I did managed to stop in to G.H. Bass and the VF Outlet and discovered they offered a decent selection with reasonable prices, however I didn't see anything at either stores and left empty handed. Not sure I can really recommend this as a stop, unless you lived in the area I would pass this on by if you are driving down I-55.

The stores that are there are clean and well stocked, but dont think youll be there for more than…read morean hour. There are a lotof empty store fronts and non retail store businesses. Nice womens clothing store, Bass outlet is great, undergarment outlet is good, Carters childrens clothing is excellent, ladies clothing and plus is nice, as is the larger outlet on the southeast side. But, thats it. There used to be other stores, Ive spent 2-3 hours there, but i was done in less than an hour this time.

Saint Louis Galleria gets sadder and sadder each time I shop. When I come, I am always shocked with…read morestores that have opened and closed. The variety of stores seem to be getting lower and poorer. The Galleria use to advertise, "Where the Best Stores put their Best Stores". Now when I stroll the mall, I'm lucky if I see a familiar branded store. I basically only come for two stores now. I shop the Apple Store, which I am surprised is still located in the mall. I would have expected them to depart to a strip center somewhere else in the metro area. The other store I frequent is Tommy Bahama, but I don't shop there as often as I use, too. I can now just go on line and have it shipped to my home. My most recent visit, I could see the wear and tear of the Galleria and a desperate need for repairs and maintenance. As long as Apple remains a tenant, I'll keep coming back.

The Galleria is honestly a shell of what it used to be. When I first moved to the STL area, I…read moreactually enjoyed coming here, but now it's not a mall I choose to visit unless I absolutely have to. We stopped in last night only to pick up an online order, and that was the sole reason for our visit. This mall used to be the place to shop in St. Louis, great department stores, solid dining options, and an overall upscale feel. That's definitely not the case anymore. It's gone downhill significantly. Many of the good department stores that used to be here are no longer in business or have moved elsewhere and tons of new spots have aken over some of the spaces, but I am not very familiar with many of the new stores. The visit itself felt uncomfortable. There were police officers and security guards throughout the mall, and a lot of people just hanging around who didn't seem to be shopping. The space felt louder, messier, and not very inviting. On top of that, the mall now closes at 7 PM on a Saturday, which is pretty shocking for a mall this size. I assume it's for safety reasons, especially since there are signs posted stating that all minors must be accompanied by an adult. It's disappointing to see how far this place has declined. The shoppers who once gave the Galleria its appeal have clearly moved on elsewhere.
