Okay, I have read the reviews and have not come across the owner and I started bowling there every week. The alley is old but the lanes are pretty good. I absolutely hate the seating but I can deal with it to not have people all over me while I practice. I try to go in afternoon since I am trying to re-learn to bowl since my torn ACL and broken right hand and this place is perfect for what I need. The staff...well I have had mixed experiences but no one has been rude or overly friendly. My guess is they are overworked but over all I really like this place for what I need it for. I have my own shoes and balls so have no advice there and the price is fair based on cost of operating. I would say the hours are listed to open at 3pm on some days and this is wrong, its 4pm but other than that, I like it here. read more

Have been here twice in the last couple months with some friends for Cosmic Bowling. Literally perfect for the price. It's $15 all you can bowl from 10 pm-1 am. Don't be expecting Brunswick, it's more run down but they did some remodeling a couple years ago. But honestly for the price you can't really beat it. They have a bar, but it isn't a full bar. I have been on a Friday and Saturday and it was never overcrowded but almost the whole time the lanes were full. Music is loud, they have the black lights on. It's honestly just a good way to hang out with friends for a decent price. I will definitely keep coming back more often, especially since I work the night shift. read more

We had a fun experience, however there were significant issues that need to be addressed. Their website lists a package for 1 hour of bowling for just a little over $30. After calling, they said "Our website's old, the price is actually $40+". We asked if they could honor the website prices, to which they said no. Some of the bowling lanes are glitchy. They wouldn't detect pins, they would reset randomly, give free strikes at random, etc. Most the bowling balls were old and scratched up, and it was impossible to tell what the bowling ball sizes were. They got our food orders wrong, and had strange issues with money transactions. The bathrooms were terribly maintained I wouldn't recommend this place for bowling until they fix at least the pricing issue. Andy B's in Denton is cheaper, nicer, and more professional. Bowlero nearby may be a bit pricier, but is more professional than University Lanes. There are also options in Lewisville, which isn't a far drive. read more

I've been to University Lanes a handful of times, but tonight I had the best service from the staff! Giovanni & Briee were very helpful, polite, and had great attitudes! Don't go here. Their website says 4.50 per game not per person plus 4.25 for shoes. There were three of us and it was 57.00 to bowl. We also got three small drinks for 11.00 total. Oh yeah and if you want a refill for a soda you have to pay the same price again. I paid like 70.00 for everything for three hours of bowling. read more

Bait and switch! The prices on the website, supposedly updated ~ a month ago are "outdated". We wanted to go bowling with my son, so chose thhis location as it was close to UNT and ended up paying the higher price per person per game and for the shoe rental, even though it was a Monday. The glitchy lane and the resetting didn't help. The balls are in really bad shape...on most its hard to tell the number. The only reason I am leaving three starts is because we ended up having a good time as a family and didn't have to drive too far. Incredibly rude staff. Cheats, thieves. Wanted to play two games with the family, front desk guy Updike us to "all you can bowl till 11 pm" machines turned off 15 minutes early and when we went to ask about it they said they didn't care and we should not be worrying about the 15 minutes. Would not give money back and made fun of my kids. $5 for 4 cheese sticks that were worst I've ever had. Rude food lady gave kids a hard time ordering. Lane equipment old and broken. I looked on the website & they advertised great prices. When I arrived I noticed the sign on the door says the website prices are incorrect. I asked the young man at the front desk & he said the website is wrong. I drove all the way up to Denton with my family so I asked if I could have an even number lane because my husband is left handed. I was informed they didn't have any lanes available even though I saw several open. The young man was rude & the bowling alley is filthy. I decided to take my hard earned money to a place that knows how to update their website, hire polite people and clean. Don't waste your time or gas on this outdated dirty place! read more

One of the things about Denton is that comparatively to other college city areas, its dead. Unlike Austin, Denton is pretty quiet so finding things to do here is limited. However, if you're at the Texas Woman's University (go pioneers!) you will find a quiet little bowling alley down the street from Stark and Guinn Hall (dormitories). If you drive to it, it looks run down and old. Abandoned and closed in fact. In actuality the place is a great go to place for students. It is open at great hours. Late nights and on Sundays until midnight. The place is really clean and the people are friendly. The bowling atmosphere is awesome. Go on a Sunday where there is no one. That's the best. Their bar is awesome too. Only in the sense that it is cheap. Its a $ 4 dollar minimum with beer cups of $1.50 each. The total cost of my shoes and two games was $7.81 - that is waaaaaayyy better than Plano Super Bowl which charges you an arm and a leg. On Wednesdays, they have $10 College Night where you can play all night for $10. Bowl here. Enough said. read more

Unless you're desperate don't go here. No idea why an old place like this thinks they can charge similar prices as Main Event. $4.50 per game per person plus $4.25 per person for shoe rentals. Either going off their per person price or their hourly packages, they are only slightly cheaper than places like Main Event. 5 of us shared one lane and bowled for about 2 hours and paid $92. If you have just a few extra bucks then use it, drive 15 extra minutes, and go to a clean, well taken care of place like Main Event! They put us on a lane with a keypad that didn't work whatsoever. You clicked one button and it bounced all over the place. To type in our names, to fix the scores it jacked up, and any time we needed to do anything on the pad we had to walk up to the front counter to have them do it. Why they didn't just switch our lane I'm not sure since for a while we were one of the only two families there. The lane messed up and reset a couple times every game we played. Between the keypad and the lane not working, it was just a big headache. They don't mind charging you full price though! The toilet in the men's room didn't flush. Paid $14 for a pepperoni pizza, but it was more like a cheese pizza with a couple pieces of pepperoni on it. The beer was a decent price though. That's about the only thing I will give this place. read more

I went on a Friday nite recently and had a pretty good experience. I only wished it could have been a little more affordable, but of course they weren't running any specials on Fridays. The drinks were cheap though.... The place was fairly clean and well maintained. We didn't have any issues with the equipment. There was alot of smoking around the bar and pool table area, but it didn't fill up the place, the air was still pretty clean. Clientele was mixed, younger, older, rowdy and not so rowdy. The music was mediocre, and only occasionally got annoyingly loud. My only complaint was that it cost a total of $63 for 6 people to bowl 1 hour (w/ shoes). read more

I was really excited to come bowling tonight but once we got there it was kind of confusing. We ended up having fun but mainly because of each other not because of the place. First, the website does not list prices but they had a coupon for a free game of bowling. So we brought that in. Then when we arrived at the bowling alley the prices listed on the wall were not the actual prices that were being charged. My husband was told that shoes were $4.25 per person and that the games were $2.50 an hour. I guess they have specials for different nights but we didn't know about these till we arrived. Also we wanted to use our coupon for the free game. When we paid after we bowled our total came to around $26.00. I didn't ask my husband about the price till we got home and I thought that sounded a bit high considering we had the coupon for the free game. I thought it should have been more like $17.00. I think the guy at the counter still charged us for the one game we played even though we brought in the coupon and no one at the bowling alley seemed to know about the coupon and acted like it was suspicious. The bowling alley itself was clean and pretty quiet. It smelled kind of musty when we first walked in but it was not filled with cigarette smoke which I remember being an issue before when it was Holiday Lanes. We were able to have bumpers for our 2 year old and they had one of those metal slides for young children to use to roll their ball down the lane. (but they only had one) Our son loved it! The bumpers would come up and down during and after his turn which was really nice. (I could have probably used the bumpers myself) It seemed like our lane had issues picking up the pins. At one point I had to push the reset button like 3 times before it actually put the pins out. Overall, I think the customer service could be improved upon and they should be familiar with what is on their website. I don't know if the equipment is just old and that is why it didn't always work properly or what. The bowling balls also seemed a bit old too. Lots of dings and sometimes the weight of the balls were hard to read. read more

Bowled here on an early Friday afternoon. 1 hour of bowling for 2 people came to slightly over 30 dollars, which included shoes for one of us. Big surly guy working the counter was not pleasant at all. If you could make money frowning he would be set for life. As far as I could see, he was the only person working there. Although it did sound like an amateur blacksmith was pounding on an anvil somewhere behind the pinsetters. The lanes themselves seemed to be lightly oiled, and the ball returns are very dirty. Every 3 frames or so you will find slightly less than dime-sized grease spots on your bowling ball. The computer scoring system is fairly modern. The selection of house balls consist of some pretty beat up conventionally drilled balls, with a few fingertip balls as well. There is a coke machine where you can get 16oz sodas for two bucks each. I believe I saw a pool table in the back of the place. The bar area did not appear to be open. Or maybe it was, and the sourpuss working the front counter also served drinks? Hard to say. read more

I've been to this a few times and while small and run down i believe that is were the charm is at in this place. And that's about all there is to this place. A whole in the wall for bowling and dirty bathrooms. Staff here has always had a hard time figuring out groups and given away our lane once on accident. After a few times you would think they had a better system down. The crowd here has always been less respectful of other bowlers than other places as well. Like i said before this might be some of the charm in it if you are the type that wants to let loose a little more If you around the area and want to do more parting than bowling then i'd say this is your place. If you want to do more bowling than partying i'd say go to a different place. Matter of fact when it's getting slightly later i would almost put this in the not kid friendly category. read more

Took my granddaughter this last week. The place is old and run down. Even the lane balls are terrible -- mine had ruts in it. The capper was the shoes they rented me. The entire front of the right shoe was completely split open. Never again! read more

I'm with a University group and twice now we've reserved lanes for a recruitment event. Both times we made the reservation, confirmed it and then arrived to be told it was league night and we'd have to wait at least an hour and a half. If you don't take reservations, that's fine. Just don't take the reservation an then act incompetent when we arrive. The last time it happened, we called Brunswick, and they had us up an running within 10 minutes. The owner is very rude. I came to enjoy a night of fun with my friends, but in the midst of bowling a dude came on the loudspeaker, pretending he was some sort of sports commentator. After talking about a couple other lanes he mentioned lane 16, which I was bowling on, and proceeded to talk about how horrible I was doing over the speaker for everyone to hear. I went to the counter and asked the guy there who was announcing, and he informed me that it was the owner. I don't mind being made fun of, but when I'm giving someone my hard earned money I expect them to not be rude to me on a loudspeaker for everyone to hear. read more

This place is horrible! No one that works there seems happy. The snack bar ladies daughter is always there hanging out. One time I even saw her pull out lingerie and was showing it to her mom Sandra. Very inappropriate! The manager doesn't seem like a good candidate to run the place that's for sure. read more

Went on a Saturday to enjoy some family time before school started. Called up here ahead of time to make sure they had lanes open. The man on the phone said they did and told me it would be about $10 for a game and shoes. When we got here the same man I spoke with told me he didn't have any lanes open. After telling him that I was the one on the phone and he was going against his word he got my family and I a lane and told us we needed to leave by 5. Rude and ignorant this place is dirty and the only thing good here is there beer. Service was terrible! I WILL NOT COME BACK GO TO BRUNSWICK INSTEAD. read more
