The 18th century architecture is a mashup of Victorian Gothic, Neoclasical, Georgian, etc. It's wonderful campus for strolling to take in the architecture, green spaces, and people. The Trinity Trails walking tour is student-led and about an hour long. It's a great way to take in all of the campus.

It is also the home of the famed Book of Kells One of the most prestigious universities in the world, Trinity College Dublin, was packed with both students and visitors, leisurely walking or rushing through the main campus. Once inside, you find yourself in the enclosed Parliament Square with several impressive buildings surrounding you. They all date from different centuries with none of them surviving since the first days of the college. You are free to stroll the grounds at your own liberty but to visit the Long Library Room and the Book of Kells you need to pay an admission fee. it is located in College Green at the top of Dublin's Dame Street. The street is perhaps Dublin's finest, a stroll down takes you past the Bank of Ireland (the world's first purpose-built Parliament House), City Hall, Dublin Castle and up towards Christchurch Cathedral. Along the way, you will find lots of high street shops, and charming restaurants and pubs.

The main square, built with an eye to the social upheavals of the 60's, is actually designed to prevent mass gatherings. You'd guess that, as it's a thoroughly unwelcoming place. And then onto the interior, and maybe another reference to children's toys. The floor is color coded, different colored lines lead you to different parts of the campus. I'll admit to feeling a bit conflicted about this system. It's a bit patronizing. But, I don't understand it and have been lost in UCD nearly every time I've entered. There are no labels explaining the system, it's shaggin'useless.

I have nothing but praise for the History Department. The town needs the university and the university needs the town. Lunch in Elite Confectionary (bliss) or a quiet pint in The Roost are unmatched, and there is nothing better than a walk around the south campus if you've time to kill. The university is expanding rapidly, and you'd worry about it retaining its sense of community. Maynooth has a lot to offer.

I also started to spend an unhealthy amount of time in the student bar. It's a small college so the excellent thing is you really get to know people easily. The teachers that I had there were great and very approachable. The Old Campus crowds are spectacular and well worth the visit to walk around. History just oozes from the place. The college chapel there will stunned you to silence. Dublin buses and trains run there frequently, the train goes from Connolly.

It's also probably the most ridiculed school in Ireland, thanks to Ross O'Carroll-Kelly's popularity (check out what his initials spell by the way!) Rugby is not a sport here, it's a way of life - and senior cup matches are the focal points of the year. Of course, there's the annual musical with Mount Anville (the girlie version of 'Rock), where sets and lighting put many amateur dramatic groups to shame. Oh, and it's got an academic side too, don't you know?!

Also, found downstairs is the Bil Keating Studio of Television Training (an outstanding course - if you're interested in TV presenting, production or direction get into contact with them!). There is a large cafeteria which serves daily specials at a decent price; the salad option is excellent because it's a set price but you can pile the food as high as you like! The soup-du-jours are generally hearty and homemade (although, once they had 'curry soup' which we figured was an accidental concoction derived from adding curry powder to vegetable soup instead of something else!). Everyone in this building seems to be genuinely high on life; walking around pleasantly smiling and taking strolls around the outside grounds. It's a nice atmosphere, and a gorgeous place to roam around on a summers day.

They have a variety of classrooms and lecture theatres here and the building is very modern and airy. The offer mainly business courses but have branched out into other areas as well. They are probably most competitive with the ITs rather than the university, and they run evening and distance learning courses as well

Well-structured lecture halls, so you've plenty of room and the acoustics are good. There's a decent enough canteen, but there's also plenty of food options around the IFSC, including the Point Village market. Getting to and from is pretty easy too. The Red Line of the Luas will bring you right outside the door (make sure you're on a tram heading to the Point though. And if you're feeling energetic, there's a Dublin Bikes platform around the corner too.

It has a sense of community and generally everybody gets to know eachother eventually. During my 4yrs in the college, I enjoyed every day of it. St. Mac Daras is the type of school that you would naturally want/like to get up and go to every day. The kindness and respect that students and teachers have for eachother adds to the inviting atmosphere of the school. Teachers are extremly dedicated to helping students and are willing to give up their own free time in order to allow students to grasp difficult material or tackle any problems/issues that students may have with certain topics . The school is very strict on bullying and can be seen through the attitude that students of the college have towards it. Students have 0% tollerance for bullying so much so that if bullying were to occur in the corridors or at lunch (which is extremly rare) students of all years stand up and defend the student/s who is being bullied. This is a unique bond that students of the college develope with eachother in 1st Year. As a conclusion I would like to strongly recommend St. Mac Daras to all those who are considering a secondary school to select for their son/daughter. I would like to take this oppertunity to thank St. Mac Daras for all its help through my Junior Cert and in advance for my Leaving Cert. Even if you don't know where me jumper is, this is the place if you're a bit 'arty farty' and I meant that in the most positive light. This is DIT's home to the School of Applied Arts. So yea there's a lot of visually arty things going on, but at the same they also do stuff like Media. Definitely worth a look if you want to do something in journalism, etc.
