Their staff was very responsive and were even able to turn around one of the projects in five days! The young man that did the measuring, Richard, made some great suggestions that we incorporated into our design. Will not recommend this business. They were two hours late for measuring (and honestly I think they forgot and wouldn't have come if I didn't call) . They also have a huge communication problem (like not clearly marking what granite we picked or telling us WE needed to find a plumber for the sink). They didn't install the dishwasher correctly, damaged our walls and cabinets and when I contacted them about it, we were ignored. Jeff and Lora at Universal Stones were absolutely amazing!!! They worked with us, very patient, and made everyone of our dreams come true. Faced with an almost impossible schedule, they both didn't just meet the schedule, they beat it. The countertop is beautiful and installation was a breeze. In-fact, we are now exploring the ideal of replacing all our countertops, which don't have actual stone. Which leads to a continuation of benefits, the price. My wife stopped by to get an estimate and samples for granite/quartz countertops. When we both returned, the young sales "associate" rushed us through the showroom because another couple showed up. His coworker did not make an effort to help out to support him. Basically, we were pushed out of the door after we quickly scheduled an appointment for the in-home measurements. Universal Stone did not show up at the agreed time (our contractor was waiting for him). More importantly, they lied about having been there at a specific time. We rescheduled, Universal Stone showed up, did not exchange any words with my our contractor (unable to connect to the customer), but we NEVER received the estimate. It has been a few months since they measured the home and I do not expect them to contact us with the estimate at this point. My recommendation: do not do business with this company. Unreliable, unprofessional, and rude. read more

We are delighted with the beautiful quartz countertops Universal Stones installed in our kitchen and bathrooms. The original countertops in the kitchen were a greenish black, and the light quartz with gray brown veins made the kitchen so much brighter. Lora, the office manager, and Jeff, the project manager, were fantastic to work with. We had an estimate of the work being done in 2-3 weeks, but they had an unexpected opening and the work began in a week! When everything goes perfectly, it's easy to enthuse about the work, but perhaps a better gauge is how a company responds to a snafu. In our case, after the counters were installed, I noticed that in a conspicuous place the veins did not match at the seam. I sent Jeff a picture of a perfect seam and one of the unmatched vein. He promptly came to our house and with a week, the smaller piece of quartz had been replaced and the seams met. Jeff couldn't have been nicer to work with. I think the way a company works with a mistake is something that needs to be considered. I strongly recommend Universal Stones. read more

I checked this place out last after pricing my project with several other granite locations in Chantilly. Richard was my salesman, he graciously helped my wife and I choose our slab, and personally came to the house to measure and check my template, making professional suggestions. I paid the deposit assuming the price was for cash and carry because it was only a small bathroom vanity and two thresholds. His price was only a few dollars difference than the Chantilly stores but I decided to do business locally and the place was so clean and employees were so nice. When I got the call that my pieces were ready he sent them to my house with an install crew that fitted and installed all three pieces perfectly without issue. They were quick, cleaned up nicely and that's when I knew I had gotten an amazing deal. The price to select and have it installed was within $20 of other cash and carry out yourself locations! Great service, great selection, and quick turnaround! I had to write this review to personally thank Richard for the top quality work, materials, and service! Before you buy any other kind of countertops from anyone else-especially a big box store-give Richard a call, you'll be glad you did. read more

While the price was good, there were a few red flags that have affected the job. First, the saleman who came out to template the job brought corrugated cardboard. The edges on that are not firm, and when the precut granite was brought to install, it didn't fit. Instead of trimming the stone, they cut my sheet rock to slide the countertop into the wall. Now I have a backsplash that moves, and tile installation is proving to be a real problem. On another area, the stone was too short, and I have a gap at the back that is wider than the tile backsplash, so food and crumbs will fall in the space. Very poor standards. Both pieces should have been recut and templated properly. Insist on a professional job. I wish I had. read more

Horrible experience. Two months to complete install. First install sink piece was measured wrong. Next install the granite did not match. Third install sink and stove removed again. Total of six days without kitchen sink. Three installs and all the mess of cutting of the granite. All the mess of having to remove all items in cabinets. Richard was the designer that was in charge of our account. Every time I called company people had quit and never got calls returned. Nightmare install. read more

Good and the Bad. The counter tops and installation look great BUT...I was told all I needed after installation was a plumber to hook up the new sink and I asked specifically if I needed a electrician to hook back up the cook top. "Nope" I was told "They will hook it back up" Installer said he did not do that and proceeded to leave the cook top on the floor and I felt I had to beg him just to lift it up and put it back in place. Installers also damaged two separate places on my walls and I was told I needed before and after pictures to prove they damaged the walls. White dust was spread all over the floor and no attempt was made to clean it up and debris and pieces of countertop were left all over the driveway. When we called the sales consultant we basically got the cold shoulder. Now I know why they collect all the money up front! Again...the counter top looks great but the customer service was horrific. Make sure and read your contract and get any verbal promises in writing read more
