The classic bait and switch that occurs when retailers put profits over costumer services. A few days ago the magazine Wine Spectator included the 2018 Domaine Latour Carton Charlemagne Grand Cru in the top 10 wines of the year. Multiple retailers where selling it for $129-$149 including Universal Fine Wines. Today I went to order and the price was hiked to $199.98 so I call the store and spoke to Victor who confirmed the prices he had was $139.98. So he put aside the 3 bottles they had left and instructed me to speak to Roberto to get the price fixed. I did and showed them the lower price but they refused to fix it (lower it) because now that can easily sell it for $70 more. So they will make $210 more in this transaction but lose my business and my friends and family business which I can tell you "it's a lot more than that". read more

Huge location with an adjacent bar and lounge- this building was an Orange Citrus Store once upon a time. For me this is my go-to for cruise booze. They sell the packets of liquor~ great for so many different events where alcohol is too expensive! just be warned they can be difficult to open... heheheee my sister got sprayed with one my mom was trying to open. Good experience with online orders here during the pandemic. Be aware that they do not ship orders immediately; there is a banner at the top of the website with an estimated order processing time, but they have always shipped out my orders within that quoted time frame. Prices vary widely here. Some offerings are oddly expensive, but there are also some very good deals to be found so there is the opportunity for some real value even after factoring shipping costs. Proper place to get all things alcoholic. Remember back in the day when liquor stores had attasched "lounges?" There weren't usually high-class hangouts, but everyone in life has a position to play on the field, so these places were necessary. Since the fall of Communism, we have witnessed a steady decrease in liquor store lounges (I am not sure the two correlate, but I like to think so). However, there are some places--places like Holiday, FL--that refuse to let go of the past, and quite possibly Communism. Nowhere is this more evident than Universal Liquors & Lounge. From afar, this place looks futuristic with its bright blue lighting outside, but pull up on a Friday night and you will quickly be snapped back to reality. You're at a liquor store. In Holiday. Not all things are as grim as they seem though. The prices in here are not only fair, but they have a nice sale rack that should not be snubbed. I'm talking $25 single malt Scotch kinda sale rack. Okay? I mean sure, they can't compete with places like Luken's, but if you have the misfortune of living nearby or need some stuff in a pinch, this really isn't a terrible option. read more

The manager of this store is the rudest person I've ever met. I'm a Disabled American Veteran and went in here and was told to leave because I didn't have a mask. I love Universal Liquors Cuz it's close to my home. When I want to get booze I don't have far to roam. I come for their fantastic Selection of craft beer. And they're open till 2am Every day of the year! Too bad the bar next door Makes this place reek of smoke. Just be forewarned It may make you choke. read more

This is my go to for booze. Reasonably priced and the staff is very friendly. They also have a pretty interesting selection of different IPAs and local beer as well. I personally have not gone to the club that is next door. The liquor store is a winner though. read more

So this is one of our go to spots for drinks but on this trip we were looking for something specific. We walked through and then went up to the counter. We asked if they had Kelpie and the guy looked at us like we were from Jupiter. His response? "Uuuuuhhhh, no." As in, I have no idea what you just asked for and the easy response is just to say no. A liquor store should realize Ardbeg Day and their special release of Kelpie is happening now. If you don't know if you have it and especially if you haven't even heard of it find someone who does or at least look it up. Will you be getting it? Yes, No.... Ugh. So frustrating. Your entire existence at your job is to help people locate their drinks. At least do a good 'job' of it. Prices are fair. Sale rack is legit. I need to share my experience at this store. Living in Port Richey, which is a 25 min drive down US 19 to this establishment. I purchased 4 bottles of wine. Making a special trip because this particular wine was only sold here. They only had two bottles on the shelf. The assistant said she had to go up and get more. When she brought it down it went directly in a box. I never got to see it. When I got home I took them out of box. All the same wine two a golden color. When looking this up on line. it is a sign of old oxidized white wine. I drove all the way back to return. When speaking to the manager, that did not seem to know how to handle this issue. A girl came running up, expressing that they will only exchange. So I returned all with no problem. I felt I needed to compensate for my time and gas. Thanks for nothing. Needless to say I will not be back. I don't know about you. I'd rather spend my money and time where I feel respected as a paying customer that is valuable to there business. read more

It's also the only normal looking place in the area. This review pertains to the liquor store only ... not the lounge. I think that this place is a victim of expectation. The size of the building had me excited but once inside I was underwhelmed. It wasn't a bad selection, per se, but it wasn't great either. There was a noticable lack of higher end bourbons, scotches, brandys, etc ... it was more like your typical liquor store with a slightly larger floor stock. They had a few local beers but on the whole the beer selection wasn't great. The guys working there were loud and highly opinionated regarding the current plight of the middle class but were very friendly during check out. After I left an $8 cash tip on a $38 tab, the bartender took it upon himself to write in an additional tip on my credit slip. All would have been well, except for Elizabeth, the manager, pretty much told me to suck it when I brought up the dispute. Also didn't matter that I go to the bar often as well as make many purchases at the liquor store. This establishment will never get my business again! Whichever bartender that committed the fraud should be fired and management should be more proactive in eliminating these thieves from their staff. DON'T GO HERE!
