BUMMER OF A PLACE!!! Well actually nice building and bummer spiritual leader Rev. Sheila Gaylord. Went here for a counseling session with the resident ACIM guy and sometimes ersatz minister, Earl Purdy. In the session he says, and I have this on recording, "Why your life is going to get more and more painful, I hate to break it to you." He is quite aware that I was going through quite a long and painful period. Especially considering the recent death of my medical support bird and best friend of 27 years. When I asked him later what he meant he told me I was negative and he would no longer talk to me and he turned his back on me and walked off.. So I went to Rev. Gaylord, the minister, and told her of the session but not who gave it. She had absolutely NOTHING good to say about the counselor and even said the person should not be allowed to practice. Then I told her it was Earl. Within 24 hours, after deliberately pushing my buttons to get me frustrated, she sent an email telling me I should leave the church and "not come back till I felt better", though she did not exactly explain what 'feeling better' was. Rev. Gaylord never even thought or suggested, in her spiritual leader position, of brokering a conversation between her, myself and Mr. Purdy, who operates out of her church, to try to heal and/or understand what happened. (Basic conflict resolution 101) So it appears that healing is not part of Rev. Gaylord's ministry. No rather it seems that Mr. Purdy tells this woman what to do. Also of interest a highly regarded Doctor, and lecturer on the Course in Miracles who knows Mr. Purdy, had this to say when hearing his words: "What Earl (Purdy) did is both unprofessional and unethical. He is unlicensed, of course, but that's no excuse" Actually in retrospect I should have walked out on Purdy when he referred to God's love as the "ultimate Golden Shower". (Look that up if you don't know what it is) The Course says there is always another way of looking at things so this is just one that I felt should be made public. read more
