I'm going to try and not make this review sound cheesy by saying OMG! They are sooooo awesome! But in reality, if you are seriously sick & tired of being sick & tired, and/or you have tried to make it through on your own, or through another rehab, then you should go to Unity Recovery Center. They help you with your journey to a clean & sober life!
This is my experience:
1.) I wasn't sure what to do or how to get things started, I called the number on their website (877-201-6011) and they were very helpful...& didn't rush my call along. He spoke to me like he & I had known each other for years. He listened while I was crying and scared. He had me call him back after I made my flight arrangements. (He offered to help me make the arrangements, but I declined - I think I did that because I had a small part of me that wasn't going to go through with it)
2.) I spoke with my family, they were happy that I finally reached out for help! So I booked the flight, called Mike back & I had 12 hrs to pack and get to the airport.
3.) I was greeted by Robert, (an intact counselor) he picked me up at the airport, let me have a cigarette, and then we headed to detox. I'm not going to lie I was having issues with my decision to go through with it. Robert sat down and helped me get through every one of them.
Detox was rough, but that's to be expected, you are getting those demons out of you. This is a real nice facility, you have a large room with your own bathroom/shower & tv. The staff was very helpful and cared about their jobs. (They were nice to me, even when I wasn't nice to them). They have two well known Chef's that cook you 3 meals a day!
4.) Once discharged from detox, you learn how to live life without using. You go to a community environment with other people who are in the same spot as you. At first, I didn't want to stay there, because I just wanted to go home, however, after a few days, I felt right at home. We went to AA & NA meetings to assist with the urges & the doubt that you can do this. You also attend group therapy and classes on how to live without the harmful toxins that you used to put in your body.
5.) Discharge from Unity: They don't just teach you, care about you, then dump you off at the airport, they actually ask you if you have any concerns about going home. If you fear that you might slip up, they offer a halfway house, showing you again that you can do this!
My clean date is July 16, 2013. I'm not going to lie, I did come home and find my life a little challenging and I wanted to use. When the urge became overwhelming, I called Unity & spoke with the counselors there. It made me feel as if I wasn't "just" a client, I was actually family.
It's been over a year, and I have been going through hell with my personal life. I have urges to just throw in the towel and use again, however, before I actually do that, I call Unity. Once they answer, they listen to you!!!!, they do ask for your name, so they can help you by looking up your information. Once I called bawling my eyes out, I was swearing at the guy on the phone like it was his fault!, he never interrupted me, and when I was ready to hang up, he asked for my name. That meant such to me!!!
Okay, as I close this review, I wanted to say one more time, that if you are ready to live your life, then please contact Unity Recovery Center!! read more
