The classes, the teachers, the yoga at United Yoga (aka YogaUni en français) are all great. But the best part of the experience is the studio itself. They're right across the street from St. James United Church, so while you're looking for your drishti gazing point, you can let that gaze settle on some gorgeous neo-gothic tracery, the gables, the slight drift of snow cascading from the eaves...it's really quite lovely. The inside of the studio gets plenty of natural light, and has wall mounts for some iyengar poses, and they even hold a weekly wall-yoga class.
The classes here range from chatty and philosophical-introspective to quiet and athletic, and follow a variety of traditions: iyengar, vinyasa-flow, Kripalu/hatha. The pass prices are reasonable, the workshops all look great, and the instructors are all great to learn from.
I wish they had more early classes, as they don't start until 10am, and 12:15 on Mondays and Fridays, but I'll take what I can get. Ommmmm. read more
