The staff is amazing and friendly and the vibe is just amazing. More than just a yoga studio, they have two adorable dogs who basically serve as their mascot (don't worry they are super friendly!) and offer their members tea and comfy couches to chill on before or after class. They have a very convienient schedule with classes throughout the day in both english and french although from experience the instructors switch betwee languages if they need to. Their changing rooms and shower areas are impeccable and cleanliness is definitely not an issue. The only problem you might have is finding a locker at peak hours (evening classses). Classes are fairly priced with 17$ per class (2$ for each matt and towel rental) but you students get a couple bucks off (score!) I would definitely recommend this studio to beginners who want to discover the practice as well as to aficionados who want a challenge (something called PowerFlow - I have never sweat so much in my life). Parking is a bit of a challenge but doable, just arrive early as they don't like latecomers!

5 stars for the hot barre class, even if it's hot and painful... you feel great after!…read more Hot barre at enso is like boot camp for ladies in cute lulu lemon attire. It's a fully body workout in 60 mins. The pace is quick but that's what I like. This is not a relaxing yoga stretch, expect your heart to race and body to sweat buckets. Studio is modern and clean. Plenty of space in the locker rooms, showers are also clean.Downtown location is a huge plus. Prices are on the higher end, but if you buy classes in bulk (5 classes or more) it comes out a lot cheaper.

TLDR: Go to a class with Sarah as the instructor and fall in love with the Athletica workout…read more While my prior review was directed at my Hot Yoga experience, this one is for the Athletica class & challenge. Their Athletica course is rather new, it is a 45 minute HIIT with instructor where you rotate through 12-15 stations. I took part in their open house back in June and nearly threw up from exertion/low blood sugar from not having eaten breakfast before going. Despite my rough go at it, it was clear that the class itself was well run and that the equipment was top of the line. I had been tempted by the "30 Day Athletica Challenge" promotions that I had seen going on, but the price range is something usually out of my budget. I soon realized that the $600 annual membership to N+ might be cheaper, but I stopped going or caring after 3 months, so it costed me a lot more per class in the end! The 30 day challenge goal is to complete 21 days of classes out of the 30, two days on, one day of rest. Complete it, and get rewarded with 5 additional classes (usually $100-$115+ tax). Coming from a background of a severe multi fracture injury, scoliosis and other wonderfully inconvenient breaks, dislocations and sprains, I thought that a guided challenge with coach would be of great benefit to me, who still doesn't know how to use basic gym equipment. Not only did Sarah and Marina offer modifications in their explanations for people with knee injuries like myself, they actually check in with everyone as the class goes on to ensure that everything is okay, to adjust any errors in technique and offer swapping out weights/movements as needed. Key points to an effective workout; Consistency: 30 day challenge to put you in the habit Realistic goal: 2-3 days on, 1 day off, also their classes are EVENINGS so you're already up and about, no sleeping through! Motivation: Sarah and Marina cheering you on with their energy and great playlists Technique: They don't miss a beat and correct you as needed Variety: Stations change from one workout to another (get to know a TON of at home exercises!) Effectiveness: HIIT wins! Cardio, strength, core and balance training included! How this class works for everybody no matter where on the feeble to fit spectrum you fall, your workout can be adjusted via intensity/speed/weights. (ie; set the treadmill speed 4km vs 10km, use the 5lb weight vs the 20 lbs weight etc). I completed 12 of my classes in my first 14 days and was blown away by how much more energy I had and how my body seemingly began running itself better right away. Due to the mixing and matching of exercises, there wasn't really anything that became too sore other than my injured knees. Even me the amateur was able to go 5 days in a row before a day off. A week into my challenge I already found myself purchasing more classes when there was a sale so that my budget could be flexed into letting me indulge longer term in their course. Where to watch out: especially if doing the challenge, you must book your classes in advance as they can be booked to capacity which can mean missing out on your class goals. Don't hesitate to use the waitlist feature, the 3 times I did I got in. While 2 of the 4 instructors really drove the class for me, the other two did not bring anything to the table for me, to the point where I found myself cancelling a class instead of going depending on the instructor. Although Kevin has been growing on me! This was more important to me than some others might find it, particularly if you're new and need the extra encouragement, but is why I would say a first taste should definitely be done with Sarah for the full experience! If you've been hesitant, don't think twice about subscribing to their mailing list for the next sale to use as an excuse to try. They also offer 2 and 5 class deals for newbies if you want to dip your toe in the water. Oh, and this should go without saying if you've seen any photos, but their facilities are the bomb. Electronic lockers (no lock necessary), clean AF showers/changing rooms, everything is new, well maintained, and aesthetically perfect, not to mention a SUPER central and accessible location.

The reception and lounge area is phenomenal and I wish I had more time to hang around there but I was in a rush. The facilities are news, super-clean, and very calming. There are 2 spacious studios - 1 on the main level, 1 upstairs. The reception area includes a small smoothie and snack bar where they serve complimentary tea. There is also a small boutique with yoga wear, mats, DVD's, books, etc. I found the service very friendly, even to an anglophone with just passable French. Zero attitude and it was fun to practice my French. Changerooms are really nice and spa-like, with one shower and lots of lockers (but you need to bring your own lock). They can provide towels at the reception area, although I don't know if there's a charge for that. They have a busy schedule of several classes daily, so it's great because there's so much to choose from. I took the Hatha class on Saturday with Josianne and really enjoyed it. Although it was entirely in French, I could follow along (I agree with Velma - the amount of French you need is inversely proportional to how much background you have in yoga). Josianne was a patient teacher with attention to detail. I also tried the Shakti Flow class on Sunday with Marjorie. I didn't really enjoy it as much, but that was partly my own misunderstanding of what the class would be. I usually do Ashtanga and i thought it would be a similar flow or vinyasa-type class. Shakti flow is actually more like Nia, fusing some aspects of yoga with pilates or dance. There was a lot of hip circles and waving our arms with our eyes closed, and it wasn't much of a workout for me. It is expensive at $18/class, but I got the $20 weekly pass for newbies so that wasn't so bad. Mat rentals are $2. They also have a clinic in the basement for massages and other treatments. I would come back for yoga next time I am in Montreal, but I would stick to Hatha or Vinyasa classes instead of Shakti!

I just started at Naada recently so I'll likely update this review in a bit as I get to know it…read morebetter but my first impressions are hugely positive. I love the expansive vibe as you enter and the sense that you are in a space that is not just a gym equivalent or a snob fest or a bunch of awkward bits of cultural appropriation woven into new age mindfulness cult. It's a place of joyful study, and community connection. Everyone I've interacted with who works there has the same vibe - helpful but not too serious. Real smiles and laughter in a quiet respectful way. I dig it. I've been trying out a class that happens in a pretty small room and it can definitely get crowded and warm, and I bet it's kind of nuts in there in the summer. But I like the spacious area for coats and changing cabins and bathrooms, and I appreciate all the clean and good quality gear they have for you to use, from mats to blocks, straps, pillows and cozy blankets. The teacher I've had is funny and thoughtful and really focused on each person finding their flow and connection to their bodies - the opposite of the weirdly competitive "i'm more bendy than you and more zen than you!!" vibe that I've seen manifest in other yoga scenes. Naada participates in local block parties and other community events in their neighbourhood and runs all kinds of creative classes tying yoga to voice and music. I look forward to getting more involved with this fun inspiring space!!

I used to hate teachers being too philosophical during yoga practise (i am a hyper critical person who don't understand why I have to " appreciate my neighbour ", especially if he/she is a sweaty stranger next to me who breathes too loudly). However, here I start to understand and feel thankful, and I can feel the passion of the teachers in each practice. For the first time, I feel like I'm meditating, reflecting and growing stronger as a yoga practitioner. The many props from blanket, chair, belt, pillow, sandbag... are there to help you get the most benefits out of the practise and I can feel that they have helped me with my back pain or explore each pose deeper.
