Two weeks ago, we rented a Uhaul from these people to move the furniture from our tiny one bedroom…read moreapartment into a new home near the base. Anyways, we did everything online to set up a truck, but they only had a 17 foot truck available. We weren't sure either of us could drive a truck that big, so we called and talked to them. They told us they could put us in a 14 foot, but that it had to be back at a certain time the next day. We understood, but looking back on it, we should have asked them to lower the price if we weren't going to be able to use it as long as we would have before we switched sizes. Oh, well. Anyways, we felt kind of ripped off because it was advertised as being $29.95, but wound up costing $90 with tax, a dolly, and mileage (we only went about 10 miles total). On top of all that, we put about $25 in gasoline in it before returning it. Hopefully, we won't have to use Uhaul again, but it was an okay experience.

I rented a 6x12 open trailer to haul a Polaris Ranger. Unfortunately, the Ranger did not fit. We…read morerealized this within less than an hour of renting the trailer and immediately contacted the location to see what our options were. I asked for a refund and was denied by the employee on the phone, with the general manager apparently in the background also refusing because it "left our lot". I then asked if they could at least apply a partial credit toward renting a larger trailer at another location that would actually fit the Ranger. That was also denied. Their response was essentially that we should have known whether or not it would fit before renting it. The frustrating part is that my father-in-law specifically asked them beforehand if they thought the Ranger would fit, and he was told that they believed it would. What really disappointed me was that there was absolutely no attempt to find a solution. No refund, no partial credit, and not even an offer to help us move into a longer trailer or toy hauler that would have been more appropriate. My suspicion is that because they did not have a suitable trailer available at this location, they were more interested in completing the rental than making sure we were getting the right equipment. I understand that customers have some responsibility to know the dimensions of what they are hauling, but good customer service is also about trying to help when something clearly isn't going to work--especially when the equipment is going to be returned almost immediately. Keeping the full rental charge while refusing to offer any reasonable solution or credit toward a more suitable trailer left a very bad impression. Extremely disappointing customer service. Now I know why they have a 2.2 rating.
