Long story short..I recently incurred a life changing event, I've worked very hard in avoiding. But due to circumstances above and beyond my control i did unfortunately become a victim of. I didn't know where to start or begin, all i knew was that my integrity as well as financial standing was placed in jeopardy.. Currently our climate doesn't really afford us the ability to connect to with one-on-one customer service agents who have the time to listen much less the time to humanely connect and relate. This means that another bank's ATM's can receive my deposit and its credited to my New Valley account as long as I'm using an ATM that's within the Accel network. There was zero mention of this extremely useful function at the time of account opening. I am disappointed as its an ability that actually serves me very well. I figured it out on my own by researching this network that I had previously never heard of. They still get 5 stars but I hope new customers are presented with this info.

They've worked with me on cars that were a little too old to qualify for a loan "by the rules," and as long as it's a great car, they OK'd it. I didn't end up buying that car, but I was still impressed they didn't give me hassle and said "yes" in 10 minutes flat. Their rates are better than anything else I have seen, save maybe special manufacturer promos at 0.99%. Paperwork is kept to a minimum and fast. I've never spent longer than half an hour. I have no reason to go anywhere else. I'll keep financing cars through them for as long as I live in the Springfield area.

I visited the Westfield brank and was told by a teller that the system accepts codes even if they are invalid since it doesn't validate them. I asked if the promotion could be extended since it had just expired. The teller checked with management and informed me that no such courtesy could be extened for a new customer. I called headquarters and asked again if they would be able to extend the promotion for a new customer. I explained the main reason for opening the account place was the promotion and that the promotion still appears on their web site and no expiration date is listed. Again, I was told my request could not be honored. I informed the representative that I would be leaving negative feedback on Yelp and closing my account immediately. I left Peoples Bank 20 years ago due to their high fees and thought I would give them another chance. Seems not much has changed. There are many better options, including credit unions that are more likely to work with their customers. Stay away from Peoples Bank.

I received a letter encouraging me to apply for their credit card, which I did and was originally…read morethrilled when I was approved because the card had a lower interest rate than the card I had for the last couple of years. I got my card, put it in my purse, and was saving it for my dog's vet appointment because he has some bad teeth and I am on a fixed income and rely heavily on my credit for things such as this. I got a letter last weekend but because I was sick, as I often am as I have Crohn's Disease, I set it aside thinking it was my statement because I got my first one last month at this time. I got a second letter today so I opened it only to have it ask me for my fraud report. I originally thought it was a scam and opened the letter from last weekend only to have it say my account was suspended for suspicious activity. The addresses were two different addresses and I was suspicious because I had not even used my card. I called the number on the back of the card and after 2 hours I finally got a real person who told me that there wasn't any activity on my card but that because I had used their letter to call in and apply they had wanted to verify information and that because I didn't get back to them they shut my account. I live in a cold state where people often go south for the winter. I asked, "what would have happened if I had been on vacation and just didn't receive that letter and didn't find out until I had an emergency and had to use my card." He said, "we have had that happen but there is nothing we can do once your account has been closed." Mind you I was always taught that responsible people only use credit cards when they need to. And I never made one charge on this card. If you can't trust a credit card to actually be there when you need it and get told, "oh well, you can always reapply," in the middle of an emergency what good is that card going to do for you? I now have to wait for their fraud department to remove all the points from my credit report before I can even apply with another credit card company or risk getting a higher interest rate because just have the card and having my credit run by them made my credit drop from bad to good rating because I only recently started using credit and now have to reschedule my appointments for my dog and hope his tooth doesn't get infected again while I wait for them to clear up this mess. I will never do business with this bank I will tell everyone of how my dog now has to suffer because I ever made the mistake of getting a card with them.
