    2x4 outline

They were extremely hard to get ahold of through the entire project. At one point, there was no communication for over three weeks. This project was not the largest project. It was a simple kitchen remodel. New flooring had to be laid down to match the existing. The flooring and work totaled around $1300. Again, not a large amount, but still important to me as the customer. The bid was to complete the wood tie in, re-sand, and stain. UWD came in and did the large stuff, but left several flawed finished areas including cracks in between the boards, and a large outline of a 2x4 that they sanded and stained around. When talking to the owner and operator, we were told that it was a complete and new issue about the 2x4 and that it was because of a sink brace that was left there. That is correct. There was a sink brace there. However, the old floor needed to be removed from under that sink brace and new wood laid. This was completed. But then they sanded and stained around it? (see attached pictures) The kitchen contractor contacted UWD and after weeks of no response, they were contacted yet again. They sent someone out, but the problems remain. Cracks remain and the outline remains. Finally, UWD contacted me personally in a slightly contentious conversation and were more concerned about getting their money than fixing the small things left behind. UWD-"...it won't take me long to fill in the cracks, but I'm not very motivated to come out there and fix it because I see an open invoice." Me- "...I'm finding my motivation to pay for a job that is unfinished is equally as low. Who pays for a job that is not complete? The cracks are still there and the outline of the 2x4 is worrisome." UWD- "Well, that is a whole other issue. We were in there way to early. I would have to come in and re-sand and stain because there was a sink brace there. That should have been moved." Me- "There was a sink brace there that would have had to have been moved to tear up the old flooring and lay the new flooring. Somehow that part of the job got done, but then your guys sanded and stained around it. That is weird." UWD- "No. We could have torn up the floor and laid the new ones without moving the sink brace." That is odd to me. It feels like a child painting around an area without moving things to paint underneath the items. Then the child says they are done with the job and they want their allowance. Would you give them their allowance, or expect them to finish the job correctly? I suppose I have learned my lesson. Go with someone else. When the big stuff is done, the finishing touches and the remaining items to make it look good are not on their radar. I would expect this from a big box store subcontractor, but not a small business. They are more interested in the big business of new builds, and even then, I hear through the grapevine they do the bare minimum without attention to detail. As someone else has said (perfectly), they are extremely unresponsive when one calls them out on a problem with their work. Price is comparable to others in the area. Proceed with caution if using Unique Wood Designs.

Forgot about finishing the overlapping lip on the step - couple other areas too.

I honestly can't say enough good things about Jake and the work he's done for me. What started as…read morejust wanting to update my kitchen turned into a complete transformation of multiple spaces in my home, and I'm so grateful I chose him. He did my kitchen, stairs, baseboards, and a room, and every single detail came out beautifully. From the very beginning, Jake was so easy to work with. He's incredibly flexible, patient, and genuinely listens to what you want. He helped me pick out paint colors that I never would've thought of on my own, and everything just came together perfectly. What I appreciated most is how honest he is; he's not there to just get the job done, he actually cares about doing it right. Beyond the work itself, Jake is just a genuinely good person. He's very family-oriented, and that kindness shows in how he treats people. There was a day I was having a really hard time, and his wife gave me a little goody bag that completely turned my day around. That meant so much to me, and it's something I'll never forget. He's a hard worker, someone I fully trust in my home, and his pricing is fair. He's even willing to work with you when it comes to financing, which takes a lot of stress off your shoulders. Jake didn't just renovate my home. He gave me a space I truly love again. My kitchen feels warm and inviting, and I actually enjoy cooking in it now. If you're looking for someone who cares about both the quality of their work and the people they're working for, I couldn't recommend him more. -Kenna

Can I trust them with my most valuable possession? And to top it all off, I was just coming off of being sick for a long time. I was stressed to say the least. I starting calling numbers that I could find for local contractors on Google. I didn't want some independent who would take my money and run. I wanted someone who at least had an office and ratings that I could verify. I set appointments with 3 different contractors, to get bids. The first company basically (without putting it in words) told me that my house was not worth their time. Cody Burch with Resolutions came out with one of his foremen and measured and looked around. The house was rough, no doubt, but Cody was sure I would end up loving it when it was done. But I had one more contractor to get a bid from. I can't even remember who the third contractor was but his price close to Resolutions. When I tried to call him back, I didn't get a response (I may have dodged a bullet there). Long story short, I believe the Cody and Resolutions was put here to help me, and they did. My house went from the scary Halloween house with the peeling paint and the nasty siding to a nice, respectable home! The crew was fast, courteous and friendly and I can't sing their praises enough. I have a stack of their business cards, and being in the real estate industry, will recommend them to anyone asking. Bless you all for what you have done. I love my home (though I still have work to do).
