This last visit was not good at all which is unfortunate because I've come in the past , and had…read morepleasant experiences, i decided to get a silk press and while it did come out very nice the student who did my hair used not only something wet in my hair but I'm assuming the heat was way to high , a week later I went to wash my hair and it WOULD NOT revert back to its regular texture ( it was limp /dry/ thin) , before reaching out to the school I literally washed my hair 3 times and the back half and Sides of my hair had still looked like I had a silk press , i decided to reach out to the school to voice my concern about my hair while Lauren ( the owner ) was very helpful in offering a treatment the staff not so much , i stayed calm about the whole thing it's just the fact that how is the student learning where they went wrong if your blaming me for the outcome of my hair , I ended up having to cut the back of my hair off that's how bad it was (about 6 inches in total of my hair had to go ). I understand it is a school and the students are learning but in no way should I be told WHAT it is I could do different next time when I only put heat to my hair once a year . I give the whole experience a 2/10 not a since person took accountability or apologized .

The facial is my favorite, but I have had my hair done there too. I try to stick with the close to graduating students for skin, because their is so much knowledge to gain. Being a poor college student, I shopped around for hair salons near my school that had a decent…read moreprice/quality ratio. On the phone, John Jay salon said to dye my hair, it would cost about $70. What they don't tell you, is the extra charge for shampoo and conditioner to rinse the dye out and for such services as drying my hair. Grudgingly, it ended up around $100 (including a trim.) Unfortunately, I wasn't satisfied with the coloring. I called and they were very accommodating, offering me a free "redo" as long as I booked the same hair stylist. My stylist was great, until she sat me under a dryer and told me it would cost at least $50 more (conveniently not before she started the service.) Imagine my surprise. When I went to pay, they offered me a small discount, but absolutely refused to do the service for free. I ended up paying an extra $40 for the "redo", mostly because I didn't have time to argue. A service that originally was to cost $70 ended up being $140. This salon absolutely did not follow through with any of their promises on the phone. The receptionist acted better than the customers, and were very difficult to work with later as well. If you want better quality and upfront pricing, I wouldn't suggest this salon.
