I looked on the internet for a Montana souvenir shop and luckily this was on our route. It's a big…read moreshop with lots of food products, soaps, tee shirts, books, and beautiful jewelry. The saleswomen were really nice and helped me find a cool ornament to take home. Some of the prices are a little high. I fell in love with a pair of earrings but they were $42. That's just not in the budget on the tail end of a trip. Also pay attention to the price tags because they may not match what's in the computer system. It was cool to see pottery made by an artist that we bought from probably twenty years ago on a family trip. My husband remarked, "Holy cow - that plate (serving dish) is over a hundred bucks!" which made my jaw drop because my mother bought a complete set of the stuff years ago. I can attest to it's durability, though. She still has the entire set and uses it often and I have some bowls that have survived umpteen moves. Of course I can't read the name of the artist so this part of the review is basically a trip down memory lane for me and useless for any reader. Sorry about that! Let's just say that Montana pottery is really durable and try to get this train back on the track... There is an ice cream shop in the back and a mailing center back there, too, if you want to send any gifts home. This was a great stop for some take home treats and well worth the stop!

The icing on the cake in this 5-star review is their seasonal fresh fruit and vegetable runs. Once a week during season (or maybe a month... I can't remember), they send a truck out across western Montana and into eastern Washington, bringing back off-the-vine fresh fruits and veggies from local farmers along the way. You can sign up for whatever you want (they have a list in the store), or you can try to be one of the first people around whenever the truck pulls into town to get whatever is left over:) Another additional bonus is the fact that they take food stamps. I was doing Americorps in the area and was thrilled to spend my "food stipend" on healthy local products that contributed to the local economy. While you're here, pop into Kafe Utza for one of their amazing iced lattes!
