The first time I went to Unique was in 2004, before I even moved to Montana from Idaho. I had a Chevy Tracker that I had difficulty starting over time. Alvin asked me, "Why don't you just have a new key made? Keys can get worn down. Have a new key made, and if that doesn't work, come back." I had a new key made, and everything was fine. When I moved to Montana in 2006, I continued to use Unique for repairs, maintenance, pre-travel checks, and for pre-purchase checks on vehicles I was considering buying, whether from private people or a dealership. I eventually bought two Jeeps, a 1996 Cherokee Grand Loredo from a private sale in 2013 (which I'm still driving), and a 2006 Commander in 2014 from Lithia Missoula. Service advisors Alvin and Amos are Jeep certified, as are the Unique mechanics. They do better work than Lithia in MIssoula and Twin Falls, and I don't have to worry about getting ripped off. In 2015, I bought a 2013 Dodge Dart. Unique services all my vehicles. Now that my daughters are grown, they take their vehicles to Unique, too. Today is 26 March 2021, and the only time I take my vehicles anywhere else is if I need service when I'm out of town. Honest and efficient. I went to Unique upon referral from the guys at my work. Co-workers are guys who do major work on their own cars and when they can't get it done they go to Unique. I had, had another diagnosis done at another shop. Unique came in $1000.00 (NO TYPO) less!! Some of the work quoted by the other shop didn't need to be done. I called these guys when I was getting estimates for transmission fluid. The dealership initially gave me an $89 estimate. Then man I talked to with unique told me that sounded extremely low because my car can only use factory fluid. I called the dealership back and their new estimate was a minimum of $219. So I went with unique because they quoted me $210. When I went to get my car they said since it is a small vehicle it didn't need much fluid and my total can to $129!!! I've never had an auto service charge me a dime less than their estimate. Overall very pleased with the great customer service. They also reassured me that a number of things the dealership recommended didn't need to be done on my car for at least another 20,000 miles. read more

These guys are great. Daughter is in Missoula at college, we as parents are 6 hours away, so kind of at the mechanics mercy. Car had electrical issues which nobody could find let alone fix. They spent way more time than they charged for and had the patience to find the issue. They would try something, tell the daughter to try it for a while. When it wasn't the fix they tried again. They did not give up until found and fixed. Then when it was time for the bill I was shocked by how reasonable it was. The guys are NAPA who refered me to this shop were right. Beware of this place. They have great initial prices but I've had to take multiple vehicles back multiple times for the same issues costing me both time and money. I kept giving these guys a chance and they kept failing. The last straw came when I took a car back three times for the same issue and finally took it somewhere else for the repair. read more

I moved away from Missoula a couple years ago, but come back to visit fairly frequently. The last time I did, my car broke down. Upon recommendations from literally everyone I know (and visit) in Missoula, I took my car to Unique. I had taken it elsewhere first (to a closer shop), but after some extraordinarily shoddy customer service there, brought it to Unique. Unlike the first place, they were happy to listen to what I knew about the problem, discuss the problem with me and share what they knew about it, and to answer questions I had. ( Auto shops note: this is absolutely essential if you want to establish trust! Do not mansplain the issue to your customer, and do not mock them for asking questions!) Not to mention the bill was half what the other place wanted to charge. Came away feeling that I'd been dealt with honestly and my car had been worked on by competent people. DONT BRING YOUR CAR HERE! I took my wifes car in for repairs, i wont go into detail of what was fixed, but, it costed me $450 dollars, the car broke down 2 days later, so i brought it back to them, they fixed it and it broke down again 3 days later, they did more work on it and told me that if the problem happened again that i would need to rebuild my top end and it costed about $1500 depending.. well of course it broke down again and i brought it to another mechanic who had said that unique was repeating the same mistake when fixing the same problem. The car has been running great now for 3 months.. and to think i had my credit card ready to rebuild my wifes motor...I told them about it and it seem like they didnt care.. read more
