Everything that's best about a traditional English Pub is exemplified in the Union.
Always has at least 3 or more real beers, usually Marstons Pedigree and Jennings Cumberland with some guests.
The Pub was taken over by the present landlord (Paul) nearly two years ago and he has transformed it into a clean, tidy and friendly environment where locals and visitors can all join in the conversation or quietly sit and have a drink.
This is well behaved friendly pub with open log fires and a lovely beer garden. The food, cooked by Paul's mum is excellent and reasonably priced, though not available on Mondays. If you want to eat it is a good idea to prebook.
Dogs allowed in public bar (on leads) but not in the Saloon Bar where food is served.
Recently the Pub has taken on the role of Village Shop, selling essentials like bread, milk, soup, pet food and stamps from the bar as there is now no other shop or post office in the village of Calcutt. read more
