3.5 stars. Underground is the tunnels system below Oklahoma City. This tunnel is use for walking below the city when the city is fully covered by snow. It is very good use for winter time. The tunnel protect you from severe weather or cold wind. The tunnels system link the commercial area, shopping, banking, restaurants, parking garage. Basically you can use it as a walk tunnel to connect all business. There are several tower in downtown that connects the tunnels. Many downtown people use it as walking path for restaurants during lunch time. We got into the tunnel through the Arvest building. We took the elevator to LL level to parking garage below the building, then followed the red painted path to enter the green tunnel. The tunnel divided into colors system. We enjoyed exploring these tunnels for at least a couple of hours. I learned more about OKC in that time than perhaps any city I've been to (except London - I read the book - but I digress). It was also nice to be out of the heat. There were two photos that, taken together, don't seem believable as described. According to the captions, one was taken of OKC April 22, 1889, and the next on May 13, 1889 - just 3 weeks later. Not only has an entire city appeared in 3 weeks, but additional rail lines, and an outhouse added in the foreground. What really seems implausible, though, is a massive pile of dirt in the first photo has disappeared 3 weeks later, with no sign it was ever there - even the grass has grown back perfectly. In three weeks. I'd love to know how the dates were authenticated. We can learn a lot from our elders, so I really enjoyed the quotes and photos of people who had made it to be 100 years old. I saw on the social media something about underground tunnel. They are color coordinated to different area of the downtown. You can leave to different business according to the color coded area. I had no idea there was an adventure awaiting us underfoot our city streets. Did you know there's a mile long network of colorful tunnels under downtown that's filled with local art + neon lights + a Chinese restaurant?!? These series of tunnels (Underground) are accessible to the public Monday - Friday 6am to 8pm through secret nondescript entrances in basements of some of the most well known buildings downtown. ----- 3 things that surprised me the most: 1) China Chef restaurant located beneath 101 Park Ave Building (4 stars on Yelp) 2) Local art, mostly pictures w/ educational captions learn OKC history beginning with Land Run of 1889 3) F U N Our group had so much fun navigating these neon tunnels...we were looking for creative ways to close our activity rings since we'd eaten our way through OKC all weekend...The Underground was the perfect adventure for a January evening ------ These tunnels were originally built in the 1970s and have been more recently adopted by Downtown Business Improvement District and Downtown Oklahoma City Partnership. There's lots of entrances to the tunnels in some of the well known buildings downtown: Skirvin, Sheraton, Banc First building, Sandridge Parking Garage, Leadership Square, and more. Once you find a tunnel, it won't be very long before you'll be able to pick up a free map of the Underground to help you explore. ------ 4 stars, you ask... I see SO. MUCH. POTENTIAL. in this tunnel project. A couple of the tunnels are under construction (Jan 2020)-yay! Some of the tunnels seem like they would be perfect for a Plaza Walls-esque rotating public mural project. It felt a little blank canvas-ey in certain parts of the tunnels. I would LOVE to see more opportunities for local artists + local non-profit agencies to participate/adopt/create and really breathe life into the Underground. I'd love to see the tunnels be able to change on some kind of schedule, much like exhibits at an art gallery. How cool would that be?!?! ----- All and all, I'd recommend this little fun local educational tunnels trip to help you close your activity rings. Let the Underground adventures begin! Liked this place overall. Only complaint was drinks weren't really mixed, both myself and my guy's first hit was straight syrup. Ordered a Lumberjack and a Snowball. He wasn't asked if he wanted iced/hot so he thought it only came hot and didn't really enjoy it. Got home, put it in the deep freezer to cool quickly, added ice and got it mixed up and he liked it so much more he said he would order it again. So overall good and will go back, but 3.5 stars for execution, like at minimum a $6 should come mixed up lol read more

Totally worth the stop. We were driving through OKC on a Monday afternoon. I wanted to do something to really get a feel for the city and say we saw some sites there. The underground did not disappoint. Artwork on the walls and depending on which path you take, you can get a little bit of the history of Oklahoma City, as well as some other cool local projects. It was also nice to be in the underground where it was cool on a 100+ degree day. read more

If you're looking for a break from the heat or just need away from busy streets. The Underground is definitely the place to go! It's lights and air conditioning along with jazz music playing throughout makes this these tunnels nice! Definitely recommend if your in the Okc area. read more

I don't understand why this place isn't open on the weekends. And it closes so early on weekdays. Every time I come to okc I try to go but it's closed. It doesn't make sense. read more
