We started in the old barn, where both employees & several volunteers were there to give us a quick run down of the family & what to expect. Then, we were led to the house & given the opportunity to explore! Each room is opulent with painted ceilings, ritzy carpets & very fancy furniture from the late 1800s. The history is amazing & was so fun to learn about. The volunteers were wonderful & knew a LOT of great facts. We LOVED our time & are hoping to return around Christmas.

Indiana Ave. Time: The "Live on the Plaza" Festival is held every 2nd Friday of each month, from 6-9pm, sometimes until 10pm. Parking: Well, lets just say it's a major pain to find close parking in the Plaza on any Friday night, but especially the second Friday of the month for this art walk. Most of the spaces are angled on each side of NW 16th Street and some are blocked off for the vendors and food trucks. The parking lot across from the Lyric is reserved for those attending theatre performances. So most people have to park in the neighborhood areas next to people's homes. There are some parking spaces behind The Mule for $2 for 2 hours during the day and $5 in the evening. Info: The Plaza District holds a free arts walk event where the art galleries and businesses stay open longer for people to view and purchase artwork and other items. Most times there are food trucks and live bands to enjoy while you walk the Plaza area, to eat and drink at the local restaurants, as well as listen to the bands while discovering artists. The infamous Plaza Walls, where artists paint murals on the sides of businesses, fences, and alley ways, is a big attraction. The murals are revolving, as the Oklahoma Mural Syndicate invites different artists to paint their inspirations, on a rotating basis. This is an extraordinarily hopeful glimpse at a horrifying moment in history…read more It was suggested that we visit, by my partner, and I'm so thankful that he took the time to do so, because it was enriching, and of course worthwhile. This wasn't something I was personally taught in school, and it happened prior to both of us being born, so being in this space was living a historical moment. Seeing what was built from the tragedy meant a lot to me, and and it's a true showcase and human perseverance. I'm thankful that of all the things I saw in Oklahoma that this was one. In terms of visiting this area located in my photos, is open 24 hours, however, the actual museum is open until about 5 PM. I think we did not have the opportunity to visit, but we did see this at sunset, there was ample Street parking available, which was free when we went on a Sunday evening.

I've now visited the Oklahoma City National Memorial three times, and it still hits just as hard as…read morethe first visit. This is more than just a memorial -- it's a deeply moving tribute that honors the lives lost, the survivors, and the heroes of that tragic day. The outdoor memorial is beautifully designed and incredibly peaceful. The Field of Empty Chairs, the reflecting pool, the Survivor Tree, and the "gates of time" create such a solemn and respectful atmosphere. Every detail feels intentional and meaningful. Even on a return visit, walking through the site brings a heavy but important emotional impact that stays with you. The indoor museum is also excellent -- well-organized, informative, and respectful. Whether it's your first time or your third, this place leaves a lasting impression. It's educational, reflective, and incredibly well-maintained. If you're anywhere near Oklahoma City, do yourself a favor and make time to visit. It's one of the most powerful memorials I've ever been to.
