Vancouver comedy is mid. The circuit is small so it's always the same comics, and they're all mid. There might be handful of really great Vancouver comics that leave the city when they can, or have left and aren't considered Vancouver comics anymore. Sometimes you'll catch a pro free speech comic, which is usually just a hyper sensitive person saying unfunny jokes and are upset when the audience doesn't laugh. To be fair, nobody comes to Vancouver for the comedy. And to be fair, Vancouver comics don't really care about the audience so to have a mid comedy club with mid comics drowning out yelp reviews is actually on brand. Three stars because this is a club, and it is underground, and it is doing what it thinks is good. Ultimately, I'm not a comic, so what the heck do I know. Comedy is an artform, it's subjective. Vancouver wants a good art scene so bad, and I feel the pressure to support local, but then Vancouver be petty like this. I visited an underground comedy club with a friend and his dad, who absolutely stole the show with a hilarious performance to close out the night. At just $5 for entry, it was an incredible value for a show that ran from 9:30 PM to midnight. I only had water, so I can't speak to the food or drinks, but I overheard other patrons raving about both the quality of the food and the excellent service. The ambiance was cozy and inviting-though the venue was small, it never felt cramped or overcrowded. One last note: I've read some reviews mentioning people getting offended, but honestly, if you're easily offended, a comedy club probably isn't your scene. Abdul & crew run a very tight ship here. I've attended two late night Friday shows and can confirm that anyone leaving bad reviews or saying comics weren't funny - you probably caught an early show or amateur hour. The beautiful thing about comedy is that it's subjective and if you don't find an act or comedian funny? You don't have to come back! The bartenders here are amazing, I ordered a double vodka cran and got 1/8th of the bottle and a spray of cranberry instead. Only thing I've docked a star for is that 9/10 times I'm the designated driver back to Langley and having to pay $5 for an iced tea is pretty brutal. read more

While I have not yet performed at this club, I have worked with the venue owners in a professional capacity and have known them to be nothing but professional and easy to deal with. I look forward to performing here soon as I have heard amazing things about the ambiance and the audiences that frequent the venue. Had an absolutely amazing time. Great sized venue to watch some of vancouvers best! Had some comics not on the program drop in which was a real treat! Drinks came quick and the bar staff was top notch. Abdul Ali and Jon Gagnon, who run/organize the club were very welcoming, polite and most importantly hilarious. Underground Comedy Club is one of the best places in Vancouver to catch a show it's intimate and always entertaining I have been to a number of shows the food and drinks are top notch as well if you're in town and need something that's fun this place will definitely have you laughing and having so much fun so many shows great prices! Been to the venue and saw many excellent performances. They've got the coolest looking bartender, someone that doesn't look from this world. They've had some really cool comedians show up there not even listed on the card. If you hear boos here, it's only because you're haunted by ghosts from somewhere else. read more
