Underground Art is the best tattoo studio experience I have ever had and I have over 25 tattoos! The artists are talented, kind, communicate well and make sure you have everything you need to have a great experience. They also make getting tattooed financially accessible by offering payment plans, which is super helpful! What other tattoo shops do that!? I don't know a single one. They really go out of their way to create a space that feels safe for the diversity of people who get tattoos and that is truly a gift to find in a business, let alone a tattoo shop. I like the atmosphere there. Really cool shop. The people are cool. But the price is truly ridiculous. The first time I went , I was quoted about $85 for a tattoo that took MAYBE 30 minutes. When it was done they charged $120. The second time i went I paid $400 for an hour and a half tattoo that I thought was going to take 2-3 hours. And I wasn't even given the tattoo details we agreed on. Don't get me wrong I love the tattoos. But I'd rather drive to my guy in Tulsa OK that charges by the hour and does incredible work than pay their prices at this shop. read more

I went in to Underground Arts to get a tattoo fixed and add a name to it. I have had this tattoo for about 4 years that I got at a place in Horn Lake that I have never been happy with even though they had tried to fix it 3 times. ALLISON IS SPECTACULAR!!! She took her time in helping redesign a tattoo and explained what she would need to do to cover the old one that you could not read. I am very pleased with my new tattoo!!! She did an awesome job. Generally confused. I called ahead and asked if I could get my second lobe redone and get an anti tragus. Initially I was told yes, but then I was called back a little while later and told they couldn't do the anti tragus. That's fine, I wouldn't want somebody trying to do something they can't. The trouble comes with my actual appointment. I don't know what happened. I was a little later than I'd wanted to be and I had an awful time trying to find parking, so I didn't get to call them to let them know I was ready for the digital consent form like I was asked until basically right at my appointment time. Nobody answered, so I texted instead, which I was told was also an option. Nothing happened. I waited for about twenty minutes and didn't hear anything back. I saw three cars in front of the building, and I assume they belonged to the people working there. I even double checked the date and time because I was having doubts, everything was correct. So...I'm just really confused as to what happened there. I'm giving two stars instead of one because I know somebody who had some tattoos and piercings done here and all of them looked really good. I picked this place over others because of that, plus the fact there's people working there who use they/them pronouns like I do. I'm actually really sad it didn't work out :( read more

After a lot of searching on the Internet and reading reviews I decided to check out Underground Art.I called first to see if they take walk-ins. The young lady answered the phone was professional and very nice actually put me on the phone with an available artist. After finding out that he was available I went down to the location. I actually didn't even get a tattoo here. I'm giving them this rating because I came in a couple of weeks ago to get a very small tattoo the day I was supposed to leave from vacation in Memphis and they were so incredibly nice to me. They had no walk-in availability, but they recommended other tattoo shops (which is UNHEARD OF in the tattoo community). I just wanted to thank them for being so kind. I ended up finding a shop to get tattooed and I probably wouldn't have found it if it weren't for them. Thank you SO much for being sweet souls. I'm hoping to actually get inked here next time. Although all the staff at Underground are super friendly, Sarah is who I've had the most work done by. She has done small and large tattoos for me and many of my friends for years now. I would recommend anyone to her. Not only does she do great work, but she is sweet, funny, and is someone who I can spend time with for hours (and have for some of my tattoos).
