LV Lounge is a great local drinking spot in the Little Venice vicinity…read more Full of locals, this classy hole-in-the-wall is a great place to come for pre-West End clubbery drinks or to spend the duration of the evening. I love the decor at the LV Lounge - tasteful monochrome is the theme throughout the bar, with contrasting hints is always a hit with me. The over-sized mirrors and decorative drinking glasses provide a warped sense of Alice In Wonderland style perspective while there... Especially after a few of their carefully crafted cocktails! Service is always top-notch here. I would say that this is the area that brings the majority of the repeat custom to this place. Friendly and welcoming, funny and sincere. Always fantastic. The little kid in me is always awakened when I am on the lower level to this place... THEY HAVE OLD-FASHIONED SWEETS DOWN THERE! Yup, Refreshers, Banana Skids, Love Hearts, Fizzers... It makes me want to go there right now, for that alone. The LV Lounge has food delivery arrangements with local top-notch restaurants. My preference is to have sushi delivered while supping a few drinks. What more can ask for? So all in all, a fantastic, one-of-a-kind Lounge Bar. Without a doubt, my favourite place of it's kind in London.

It is a little out of the way but completely worth it. The owners are so warm and hospitable. The vibe of he place is good. It falls somewhere near upscale but not very. I would highly recommend this place for a romantic night with amazing cocktails.

Plus, according to the bartender behind the counter, they're under different ownership as well. Whew. With all of that confusing business out of the way... It's worth noting that their website apparently hasn't been updated yet to reflect that they no longer have a chef here. Ergo, they no longer serve food. It's questionable whether or not they'll look to replace their chef (who departed less than a month ago at this point), so if you're looking to nip in for a nibble and a show, you'll only get half of that experience. Not to worry, there are plenty of edibles within walking distance. Similarly, this past Wednesday evening found me standing at the bar, asking if they had a cocktail menu. Bartender: Sorry, we don't have menus right now. Me: As in... you're -out- of menus? Or you don't have a cocktail menu at all? Bartender: We don't have any at all right now. They're being redone. Me: Oh. But you serve cocktails? Bartender: Not at the moment. We have various liquors... Me: How about a gin and tonic? Bartender: I can do that. Me: Great then. I'll have two. When dealing with a bar situation where they don't really serve cocktails and are having new menus worked up, it's probably best to stick to basics. And it's generally hard to mess up a G 'n' T. A simple drink, smooth jazz, and great company make for a pleasant Wednesday night. If invited out again, I'd be totally willing to give Portobello Lounge another go. However, I can't say I'd make the haul of my own volition.

After an insalata caprese and a carbonara, I needed the coffee to digest. Service is lovely, the big windows at the front let it an abundance of light, and there were paintings on the wall from a temporary exhibition called "Quietude" which were lovely. A 2-course lunch for 2 (with coffees) was £30 with a good tip! No service charge is applied, so you leave what you wish. Looking forward to going again for lunch next time I go around portobello market. :) YUMMMM!

Neon's still pretty hot, and black leather and Asian prints are even hotter. In fact, you start to get very comfortable very quickly... Clinton's president, you're listening to Arrested Development rather than watching it (and waiting anxiously for the movie...) and Billy Ray is paving the way for Miley's acting lessons with his "Achy Breaky Heart." Snarky 90s-swanktastic decor criticisms aside, (hey, if Kate Moss can dig it, I'm sure I'm the lame duck in this story, not the interior decorator), the reason these fine folks are receiving 4 stars is their cocktail list. Classic and creative, I sampled one of the finest Sloe Gin's I've ever had the pleasure of sipping. My Rosmary Martini involved honey flavoured vodka shaken with fresh rosemary, and I oogled the fresh fruit selection they have at the bar to quench anyone's fruity-drink fantasy. This is certainly not everyone's cup of tea, but who wouldn't want to feel like they're in Miami Beach on any chosen weeknight?

It is a lovely bar/club with some nice seating areas although you will usually have to reserve one in advance. Lots of purple lighting, red suede seating and shiny floors and a mixed crowd who tend to include the 'it' people of London. The drinks are on the expensive side as you would imagine - around £8 for a spirit and mixer (although if you get invited here for an event make sure you make the most of the free champagne!). The music is fun - ranging from R&B, Hip Hop and Dance with the occasional famous guest DJ. Yes, it is on the pretentious side and not your jeans and trainers kind of place but you can certainly have a fun time here.

After a dinner, this place is a good meeting point for a group of friends. As it is so popular there are bouncers at the door, letting only as many people in as there are going out. To be fair, this place is tiny and if it gets too packed you get to step onto each other's feet. There is a more casual bar on the ground floor; going down the stairs you will find yourself on the dance floor. Not many places around South Ken are open late, however, this one got a license until 2am, which makes you get into the dance move. You will find yourself surrounded by locals and an international mix. I often bump into Greeks and Germans. As Eclipse has more of a lounge feeling to it, you will find yourself talking to people you would otherwise not have met. If you are early enough, the main highlight is the bongo player, which brings rhythm into the bar. I would not plan my night around Eclipse, however, this is a great alternative to consider if you happened not to be on a guest list somewhere else.
