What a cute small and family owned business I found while traveling. We stopped at Bonners Ferry for a couple of days and we found this gem for lunch time. We had the chicken dumpling soup and turkey and cranberry sandwich with potato chips. My choice for drink, was the rose lemonade. The bathroom is clean and open to customers. It was great to meet the owners. The customer service was excellent! I wish we had a place like this in Arizona. Although i am sad that they are not open on Sundays (so i can eat here one more time) i am glad to see that they are close to offer that day of rest. Look no further for a really fun and unusual shop. It is like the one you are always looking for and can never quite find. I could buy everything in this shop and that is very rare for me. I'm really picky and so tired of the same ole' same ole' mass produced uncreative things most shops carry for stupid $$$. Not this shop, it does have a soul. The prices are not cheap but they are fair. The staff is very nice and they fit right into the atmosphere you'll find here. I have bought several treasures here and love each one. The other day I splurged on a table cloth I loved but upon laying it on my table I found that it was flawed, without hesitation they made it right. I am even more impressed than I always am with this one of a kind jewel of a store. Oh and they have a cozy little restaurant at the back that serves healthy and tasty lunches, coffees and treats. THIS STORE!! It is a must stop and eat and look at ALL of the super cute stuff inside. I walked away $100 dollars poorer. It was an amazing lunch with my daughter. She had a tasty sandwich and I had an amazing salad. Probably the best salad I've had in a long time. We ate on the back porch and it was perfect. I bought 10 of the cutest salad plates I've ever seen in the store. I had to stop myself from wandering around any more. Before we left we each grabbed a cookie for the road. They don't just have good coffee, they have wonderful people. I mistakenly left my phone there, this was after driving 8,900 miles across the country and taking over 1,000 pictures. Located on the most active part of Main Street. Look for the Rooster in a birdcage on top of the building. The entry door is right beneath it. The front of the store is the home decor and gift shop. There are lots of gifts to peruse. The cafe is in the back. You wouldn't think there was even a cafe in the business just looking in the windows. It's a great cafe to have some coffee, lunch, and just take in the atmosphere. Great jazz music was playing when I stopped in. There is so much to look over at this shopping cafe. Be bold. Go on in. Under the Sun is a "must visit" if you are in Bonners Ferry. Their staff is some of the friendliest I have met on my travels. My bf and I stopped in this cute little shop and spent close to an hour looking at everything. We thought we'd grab a drink to go and then realized they sold food too and decided to dine in. We got the Reuben and Thai lettuce wrap....probably the best I've ever had! The service & atmosphere were both stellar. I really enjoy their sandwiches. I usually get a build your own sandwich, but today I got this one panini that had turkey, cheddar, apple slices and tomatoes on it(minus the red onion and mayo) and it was fantastic. I love that they have a selection for the chips option and that it is very apparent that the soups are homemade with fresh ingredients. The staff is always friendly and this place is great to look around in. They have gelato too if you have room! I love the mango sorbetto. read more

I'm only giving a four star review because we were really disappointed after reading all the great reviews about the amazing breakfast and made a special effort to try their breakfast only to find out they only serve muffins now! Bummer!! Otherwise it is a really cute shop to stop in for cute decor and gift items. Some jewelry and clothing. I could of really gone wild in here but we were traveling and my space is limited for what I can buy. So if you are looking for any unique items this is your place. Updating my review - very sad to report they do not serve breakfast anymore. However, I will keep my former review up: The best Eggs Benedict I have ever had! Smoked Salmon, fresh poached eggs, topped with a delicious creamy white sauce and a side of roasted potatoes. Hubby had the Eggs in a hole (hole in the center of 2 slices of bread and you fry an egg in the center of each) with Chicken Sausage and roasted potatoes. The sausage was fabulous and flavorful, not heavy. Friends referred us to this place and so glad we made it. It's a cool eclectic place with fun knick knacks to buy and a flea market downstairs with vintage items, shoes and clothing. This place is a must try, you will not be disappointed. read more

Loved the food choices - roasted kale and cauliflower salad, black bean soup, salad with ginger, roasted red peppers, sesame seeds and some other yummy things. This place had a TON of items in it plus a little sand which/soup shop. The sand which I ordered was the Reuben which was ok. Had a lot of thousand island on it and I don't think it was on rye... if it was, I couldn't tell. There was a gelato selection and those were so delicious. I had the lemon shortbread. So yummy. The reason I'm giving 3 stars is because of the prices. The prices are incredibly high. A lot of the stuff comes from an online wholesale store and is made in China so for the price they want it isn't worth it. I'm a member of the wholesale shop they purchase from and the markup on their items is extremely high, some things were almost 100% markup.. For a cafe in the back on a knick-knacks shop I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The Under the Sun panini and the Mango Salsa panini were both great and with the side of a cup of pretty good salmon chowder I had a satisfied stomach at the end of the meal. It was really cool to see the local interact, most everyone knew each other so you could tell they support it quite a bit, and I just really enjoyed the atmosphere. The address was incorrect on yelp and I forgot to jot it down and try and change it but its close to Mugsy's and another restaurant (colored green on the outside I think haha) so if you see them you can park and find it. Solid 4.5 stars but 5 will do fine I think. read more
