This place is so ass. The trash room is always full and stinks up the whole apartment. The amenities are ass. They have a rat problem too. I kept finding mice in my apartment, and all they did was give me mouse traps. After 6 months of dealing with mice, they finally came to do some repairs. Management is terrible. They wouldn't discount or compensate me for anything. This place is not worth the price at all. I'd rather commute, which I'm doing next year and I live 30 minutes away, than stay here another 12 months. Don't lease with this apartment complex. If I could give this apartment complex 0 stars, I would. My sister has lived here for 10 months and she has been in distress ever since. She is a senior at The Ohio State University and has been unable to sleep since moving into this building. Despite signing a 12-month lease, she has been unable to break it, even after repeatedly seeing rats in her apartment since the day she moved in. She calls me multiple times a day in tears after spotting yet another rat in her apartment. She has contacted management several times, but nothing meaningful has been done beyond placing a few traps. The lack of urgency and concern from management has been unacceptable. My sister's senior year has been negatively impacted by the conditions at Uncommon Columbus. If you want to live in an infested apartment complex with poor management and little empathy for residents, then this may be the place for you!!! I wouldn't even let my dog live here for free!!! the amenities are extremely nice and the place is beautiful. however, it is not being maintained. numerous amenities including the stairmaster, pool, and bikes are not even working/closed. they have towed several residents out of their assigned parking spots as well and refused to offer any sort of compensation. homeless people and strangers have free access to the common area and to all of our amenities we pay a fortune for. upon moving in, our apartment had a significant amount of damage and our front door has literal duct tape on the handle. for a $4,000 a month a apartment, that is completely abysmal. the complex itself is completely filthy, with overflowing trashcans, spilled liquids on the floor, disgusting bathrooms, etc. read more

Unsafe. My daughter had 4 people come to her door after 8:30 on a Friday night insisting on painting. She is a young girl living alone in a 4 bedroom apartment and hasn't made any friends at this place. People continue to come and go from her apartment without notice. Not only is this against the law, they don't even have the decency to answer or return my calls. The concept is great, but it seems empty. Whenever I've visited, I've never seen another resident only homeless people outside the front door. I am truly concerned about her safety. read more

I would not recommend this place. The management is not helpful and it is hard to reach the person that can help you. Half of the amenities did not work which is disappointing knowing you pay a bunch to live here. Getting ahold of maintenance is not easy and when I did, they never fixed my problem. The trash room that is on each floor would overflow into the hallway which is a MAJOR health concern. They gave my roommate and another person the same parking pass and then towed her because she "wasn't in the right spot" and never gave her money back to her. 100% would not recommend. read more

I have not moved in and yet starting to encounter problem. I scheduled a tour last Friday and it seemed nice and rosy, however, things changed when I signed the lease. On their website, it says that sign within 48 hours to receive $300 additional gift card, on top of $300 gift card that's given out and a redecoration fee waiver. I gave them a call after the tour on the next day to clarify if the 48 hours refers to after touring or application, their staff told me that as long as I sign the lease within 48 hours of APPLICATION, I should get the $600 gift card. I applied to the community on Tuesday and signed the lease on Wednesday. To my surprise, the gift card agreement shown $500 instead of $600. Upon calling, their excuse was that the promo changed on Wednesday 9am so now I can only get $500 gift card even though their staff told me I would be eligible. On their website, there is no indication that the promo is subject to change at any time. In the email, manager Aledria Holley also pushed me to agree to accept $500 by the end of the day or else they would not honor the gift card at all. It seems like they could not honor their own words and lack of commitment to their tenant. I am worried this will be the kind of community that I will be dealing with for the next school year and given the above situation, I will not recommend uncommon to anyone. read more

Unsafe. Dishonest. Unprofessional desk attendants. Not worth the money. Why are the doors not locking? This complaint was made months ago and they still have not resolved the issue. I fear for my child's safety daily as we never know what else is going to go wrong in this building. You make a report about broken items, things are not repaired. The doors do not lock and unlock properly when entering the building, unsafe. What is the purpose of the up charge if the technology does not work and when you report it the staff are aloof and crude? Or better yet, there are no staff members around to take the report and no security at night? There is nothing to be taken lightly about a consumer concern yet the workers (and I use this word with extreme caution) do a stellar job of brushing off anything that is reported. There should be an option for a negative rating as certainly there is very little that is positive about how this building is managed. read more

Uncommon racked up an allegedly "indisputable" cleaning charge on an apartment, somehow tallying $475 in painting and cleaning fees, which is ludicrous considering the apartment was left in good condition. There are many apartment rental options in Columbus. Recommend you check out the many others and not even bring Uncommon into your comparisons. I wish no stars was an option. read more

Wouldn't recommend it. As a long-time tenant, the turnover rate is eye-opening and the number of issues is unacceptable. Air conditioners breaking for days (in the case of my neighbor, weeks during summer), elevators breaking for months ( and broken on moveout/move-in day), homeless people inside the building (prior to security/when they are not around), existing damages in the room before I moved in, very loud sounds from halls &, etc. Where you get the safety of the door being strongly locked, you do not get the same experience as you'd imagine for the price you're paying (i.e list of issues that I previously provided). In my attempts to deal with what I could control, I emailed the maintenance team about my issues and commonly my issues were ignored. Only when I had applied pressure had my issue actually been somewhat resolved (partially painted room) still, I don't know why it couldn't have been fully painted. It's disheartening that my requests, as a tenant for over 2 years, had been ignored and at the end of my lease I had been charged for room redesigns/painting as that is what I had asked while I lived there. When I wanted to speak to the team they never responded until I received a bot email about paying it. So I paid for it and moved on after a month of trying to talk to someone about it. Personally, I wouldn't live here - I promise you that there are cheaper and better options out there, where you don't have to deal with a lot of the downsides that I had dealt with. Good luck! Poor management. Building is run down for being built within the past decade. When I lived there this past year, the elevator was broken 90% of the time. The person who lived in my room before me had a cat and there was scratches and bite marks all on the walls. Also, they claimed that they cleaned the apartment before move in which is false. There was WET clothes in dryer. Carpet was nasty. Floors haven't been cleaned in months. Just avoid this building at all cost. You'll be safer anywhere else. read more

I had a great experience with Uncommon so far as they made the experience of my apartment hunting very welcoming! The staff was very informative of everything I would need to know as a future resident. The tour was amazing and amenities were nice and kept up to par. This place has potential, but so far has not been a great experience. Not only is it loud constantly, but the staff really doesn't have a good plan on what to do about noise complaints (or have any idea about most things). You basically deal with the noise until it goes away. The elevators both broke and were down for about 4 days, and then broke again. Only one works now, and the other doesn't seem to be fixed any time soon. It's been about 2 weeks. The workout facility is nice, and the pool is fun in the warmer weather. I think they ran out of money building it, and were completely rushed because every person I've talked to has something unfinished or wrong with their rooms. Uncommon has been an extremely frustrating place to live. It is an expensive, and it is not worth it. There is a serious trash problem in the building. They trash room is constantly overflowing and there are bugs due to the trash. Additionally, the hallways and common areas are very dirty. They charge high rents and waste money on unnecessary amenities that like giving each resident a google home mini that cannot even be used in the apartments. If you're considering living here, I'd strongly suggest paying highline at nine's slightly higher rent or one of the many other apartment buildings. I lived at highline for a short period of time before uncommon and I have been thoroughly disappointed with the change. I find most of the front desk staff to be very rude. The maintenance staff has lied to me 3 times now (saying they fixed something in my room when they in fact have not). Probably the worst part about living here is that everything is frequently delayed (pool, tanning, coffee, maintenance, responses from building managers) and when those delays occur, uncommon will send out some very weak email basically saying "oops" and making no effort to make it up to the residents. When I lived at highline and the elevators broke down, there were apology bagels in the lobby the next morning. Uncommons elevators have broken down for a total of 4 weeks if I had to estimate. If you park on B2 and live on 6 that means you have to walk up 8 flights of stairs. When the elevators break they don't even send out a warning like other apartments do and frequently I've come home with loads of groceries only to find that the elevators are out of order. In a new building, you can expect some hiccups but the way uncommon deals with them is unacceptable. I was very hesitant to write this review because my name will be visible but I felt like something had to be said. A month ago I requested to stay a day after my lease is up for my graduation and the managers have been ignoring my calls and emails for 4 weeks which was the last straw. If they would've actually come through with some customer service, even a nice "sorry you can't stay" rather than consistent "I'll look into that for you" with no responses, I probably wouldn't have written the review. If you sign a lease pay extra attention to the fact that you pay for a full 12 months but only get like 8 days in the month of August. read more

Management is very disorganized and doesn't offer any help when needed. They are nice people and everything but they've advertised amenities such as a tanning bed and coffee machine, however the tanning bed still isn't set up and we just got a coffee machine halfway through the year. When asking about things The whole building feels like it was rushed to be completed, and that was obvious because they didn't want us to move in early like we agreed upon. They promised us retail shops on the ground floor of the building, however nothing is there yet. They are working on getting a Spectrum store, however the building doesn't even use spectrum for wifi or cable. The door to my room has trouble shutting and when it does shut, it has trouble locking. This really isn't good because my roommates can easily break into my room by just pulling on the door handle. The pool area is nice, however the actual pool itself feels like it was thrown together at the last minute and feels really weird to be in. The elevators usually break down and when they do, it takes at least a week for them to fix them. For the past week there has only been one elevator working and at this point they don't even put up a sign saying the other one is broken, nor have I seen anyone working on this issue. Additionally, some appliances aren't the best. If you like having consistent cable, then don't live here. Anytime there is a weather issue, we lose our channels and it takes forever for the channels to come back. I still don't have channels I was promised and I have scanned for channels hundreds of times. Its also quite hard to have multiple devices on the WIFI at the same time. When my roommate and I try to play Xbox, we always get slow speed. Oh and two weeks ago a pipe burst at 5:30 AM and the fire alarm went off so we all had to exit the building. It went off two more times around 5:45 and 5:50, but at least the second two times weren't as long as the first one.
