I was genuinely blown away by Uncle's at Burial. The fact that some of the best food in Charlotte is coming from a food trailer behind a brewery is almost hard to believe until you eat it.
The cabbage dish is incredible, packed with flavor and easily one of the best vegetable preparations I've had in a long time. The shrimp fritters are perfectly cooked, crisp and loaded with flavor. The chicken thighs are downright addictive. The biggest surprise for me, though, was the hamachi. Exceptionally fresh, clean, and prepared with the kind of precision you'd expect from a high-end restaurant.
What stands out most is that this isn't elevated food pretending to be chef-driven, it very clearly is chef-driven. Every dish feels intentional and expertly executed.
This is one of those places where, after your first meal, you're immediately rooting for their success. If you're in Charlotte, make the trip to Uncle's at Burial. It's one of the best meals I've had in the city. read more
