Uncle Jay is a go-to cat sitter. I recommend his business without a moment s hesitation. 10/10, seriously. He has been taking care of my cats since mid-2020 when I ended up taking in a stray kitten that a friend-of-friend had found. It wasn't the ideal time to take in a cat; I was a nurse working 12 + hour shifts during a pandemic. But the "cat distribution system" (and my impulsive heart) decided for me Uncle Jay has been excellent, trust worthy, communicative and thorough from the start... and those are traits that have remained steadfast over the last four years. I've used his services multiple times now for: (a) a late minute check in on my freshly spayed kitten while I had to work, (b) my twice yearly king weekend to visit my family on the East Coast, (c) longer trips that have taken me overseas, and (d) other short trips I've taken. It is clear that he understands cats & treats them well and with respect, and that they like and respect him back. I wouldn't doubt that he probably cares for my cats better than me! Uncle Jay took great care of our 3 kitties and made sure to loop us in everyday sending us photos and a recap of each visit. We looked forward to seeing our fur babies everyday while away on vacation. Jay was able to fit us into the schedule 2 days before our trip and was very organized and reasonably priced. We absolutely loved Jay. He watched our two cats while we were on an international trip and it became a highlight of the trip to wake up in the morning to Jay's updates. He is thorough and caring, exemplified by the many photos he would send, the detailed write-ups, and the way he thoughtfully took care of our home (watering plants, taking in mail, cleaning up litter scattered everywhere, etc.). Jay even bought two peacock feathers for our cats and left them in our closet! He was also the only one who came to check on our cats, and it was so nice to see them warm up to even day by day. Uncle Jay is a total gem, and I am so grateful we found him to help take care of our two kitties when we are away! For starters, he has a great system for setting up a quick meet-and-greet visit and sending questions in advance so that the client feels comfortable and he's more-than-prepared for what to expect when watching your furry friends. He's thoughtful about things like taking his shoes off at the door if you're a no-shoes-inside-household, and asks if you need assistance with things like mail, watering plants, etc. while you are away. Icing on the cake is that he has an amazing organization system, a safe for your keys, and a backup plan god forbid he has an emergency. All in all, it makes me feel like my home and cats are in good hands. For his actual visits he's punctual, and always sends a status update (with photos, which makes my day!) after he leaves. If there are any issues, he will alert you. For example, one time we were away and we had an issue with an old window that would swing open if it was very windy, despite being latched. Since we have indoor-only cats, he alerted us during his visit that our window was open and one of our cats (who normally hides) wasn't in his usual hiding spots. To ease our worry that our cat got out, Jay took extra time to search our house to assure out kitty was safe and sound. (He was and had found yet another hiding spot, but the peace of mind was priceless!) On another instance, we were traveling for a conference my husband was attending, and he had forgotten some important presentation notes at home. When we asked if we had left them back at home, Jay even went the extra mile to help at our request snap a couple photos of important pages my husband really needed. He stayed extra time to help with this and refused to bill us for the extra time when we asked! He also sent us a very sweet holiday card this year which I thought was just an extra nice touch. (Oh, and I'm PRETTY sure he did some of the dirty dishes we left in the sink one time -- which is just beyond any expectation.) This is a top-notch operation -- both Jay and Kristin were incredibly responsive, warm, and professional. Rates are also ridiculously reasonable for the level of care offered (and 10% goes to local nonprofits?! Take my money!) I had some last-minute travel plans come up and was looking for a sitter over Thanksgiving with just a few weeks' notice. I called a ton of places, hoping to find someone who still had availability. Uncle Jay was my first choice because of the great reviews and my past experiences with him at Cat Town. Given his popularity, I wasn't expecting him to have any openings. He got back to me within about 3 minutes (long before any other companies did) to let me know that his associate Kristin would be able to come by for twice-daily visits. Kristin went above and beyond, even bringing in my mail. Best of all, my apprehensive, shy cat who usually hides from sitters warmed up to her by the second day, as evidenced by the daily text updates with photos.
