WOW it's like 3,000 sq feet of thrifting! They have everything. Separate rooms dedicated to mens, kids, plus size, shoes, high end home goods, seasonal....omg! Constantly changing inventory and styles for everyone. I'm a vintage enthusiast. I can shop here while my 14 year old and 6 year old also shop for themselves! Pricing is more than fair! I feel guilty sometimes and make donations. They often have $5 bag sales. If that's not enough, this store also serves as a community food bank while open. There is a deep freezer full of meat and other things. A table full of bread rolls and pastries. A section of dry pantry goods. People can come in and just help themselves to fill up a bag of food, no questions asked!!! This has become my #1 place to donate, shop and now, volunteer! The space is calming that I literally feel it's a meeting place as much as a shopping experience. If you been here before, there have been many changes....try it again!

Can a thrift shop be quiet but bustling? That's how I would describe this store. It's off the…read morebeaten main street of Kent, next to a church. It promises it donates profits from the store to charity, and is in a converted house. It does have a parking lot separate from the church, and has a ramp entrance as well as stairs. Inside there are about four rooms of shopping, mostly clothes. So many clothes. Women's, children's, probably men's in the room I skipped. There's also stuff interspersed - toys with kids, jewelry decorating the fireplace in the women's clothing room, and a room in back with nice glassware. On the glass - someone is doing their research. They're not priced unfairly ($6 for a vintage character glass), but they are priced what someone may charge trying to resell it, so it may feel steeper than what you normally see at a thrift shop. But it is for charity, and when a sale tag had been inadvertently stuck to an item I was interested in, they did work with me. Definitely interesting selections!

We restored a large, old house, originally a weekend house. At first, we needed inexpensive items to fill gaps and Bowen Barn was there for us. Later, when our finished house became a primary residence, we upgraded in quality and again, Bowen was there. We make a point to stop by occasionally because they might very well have taken in an antique curiosity that fills a need. The Northern Dutchess Hospital's Thrift Shop is one of the better thrift shop I could ever visit…read more The floors are generally clean, and it's well maintained, and although they rarely have shoes to fit me(yes, on occasion, they do have mens shoes), there are some things they do commonly carry in my size. Their products are well tagged with prices, and service is good. Check this place out, before deciding on purchasing elsewhere(to make sure you've exhausted your search). Even for those who end up in Northern Dutchess Hospital and who have lost most of their clothes from car accidents or whatever, this store might even have some type of product to get you back on your feet at good prices, until you can get back on your feet again). No inside hallway connection between the hospital and this thrift shop exists, so walking between these two seems to be unconvincing. A person will either get hypothermic walking here, or become scorched from the hot sun walking here from the hospital). From the name, however, I wonder what percentage of the sales price the hospital takes in on money? This place doesn't look like it's been ever improved in a dozen or so years.
