This hotel's staff - Xenia and Adriano at the front desk, and bar and restaurant personnel - understand what hospitality really looks like. We came to this hotel after a completely messed up day that included rerouted trains and plans redone on the fly, and the staff made it all better, for adults and kids alike. Rooms are a bit small, but we were not there much. Kids slept on bunk beds that need some TLC, otherwise very clean and nice accommodations. Terrific breakfast, too. As a bonus, there is a pedestrian area right around the corner from the hotel with some really nice restaurants, that are so much more authentic and less expensive than the tourist traps! We had a great meal at Ristorante Borsieri 39.

Tried to get it fixed and led with we are fully sold out, and nothing is guaranteed. Then why do you have multiple booking options on Priceline if nothing is guaranteed? I'm paying $225 a night, second room reeked of smoke, third room was fine... next day housekeeping showed up at 2:30 I was in the shower so I said not right now, go to front desk and say I'm out the shower can you send housekeeping. She tells me it's over for the day. Then argues I had my key in the room and that's why she didn't come. Hotel likes to argue.. I ask for two towels. Given one, ask for another, and she argues I'm one person. Excuse me? I am not allowed to take two showers? Victoria likes to argue. Well argue this complaint. Okay?

The price was reasonable for the one night I was needing a nice stay for one night in Milan. However due to an unfortunate internet glitch, my reservation was made for only one night and inadvertently booked for a non-refundable reservation. No problem I thought. With over thirty years in the travel and leisure industry, such things regularly happen, reservations can be changed and everything works out. Much to my chagrin this was not the case with the Spice Hotel. First the internet booking site wanted to charge twice for the room according to the arrangement with the hotel. Then once I reached out to the hotel directly, they wanted me to use a third party vendor to pay their "service fee." After spending over two hours with my bank and Visa who was literally watching the charge go through live, they told me the issue was with the third party vendor's internet s server and not Visa. Once I went back to the internet booking site, they attempted to contact the hotel several times. Of which they had difficulty reaching the front desk, regardless of what times they called. When they did, the usual response was. "It is a non refundable room." Like I stated earlier, I have thirty years experience in this industry and have worked pretty much all aspects of it, literally from the ground up. One thing I have learned is; when a guest has this much trouble making a simple change in a reservation AND the property is holding onto the cash up-front . . . Caveat emptor--BUYER BEWARE!

The look is a bit like an Aloft hotel, with simple rooms and spare industrial decor touches. Excellent breakfast buffet for a low cost hotel. Can't beat the location for train travel convenience! Lots of nearby restaurants. Not a sketchy neighborhood at all, at least I saw nothing to worry about compared to some cities' train station areas.

The lobby was nice, the bartender was very friendly and the on-site restaurant was adequate. We came from a week touring Tuscany, so it was kind of hard to downgrade to hotel food after eating like kings for the week. It was also a bit expensive at the restaurant. We paid about twice what we paid per meal in Tuscany. The rooms were nice and the bathrooms were larger than many other European hotels I've stayed at. The front desk staff was nice as well.

The entry way was nice and spacious. The staff was friendly. The breakfast room was crowded but it was filled with guests in the mornings. And I love the presentation of the food and how they make you your drink in the mornings. The room I stayed in was spacious and comfortable, not like what I read on a different review site. I was expecting grungy. Our room had a small foyer. The shower and toilet worked well. The sheets were clean. My roll away bed was comfortable. It is also conveniently located near M2 and P. Garibaldi, and the cemetery monument. A bus line is located directly in front but it doesn't go directly to Duomo. The lift works fine and you can fit 5 people in it. There are also free toiletries and a working A/C and mini fridge, which you could use as a safe but we didn't try it. Improvements: I wish the fridge was colder for my drinks and the pillows could be more fluffy. I would definitely recommend.

My original review was from 2014. This review is based on our stay in November 2018…read more We were excited to go back to this hotel as we really enjoyed our first stay here. This time, the only positive I can give is that the staff members were really nice and there is a great grocery store across the street. Upon check-in, we walked into a packed lobby as there was conference going on. We were greeted by Laura at the front desk, she was friendly and helpful. Laura quickly got us checked in and told us that we could wait for our room in the concierge lounge. The lounge was the same as I remembered, dark, but it had a decent selection of non-alcoholic beverage. The ice situation was not great, just a bucket filled with melting ice that anyone can reach their hands into. And, every night, a group of pilots would sit at the lounge talking for hours, taking up space for other guests that just might want a few minutes to relax. The hotel needs maintenance. The carpets are torn and pieced back together, as is the wallpaper. The room felt dirty, there was mold build up in the bathroom around the sink and tub. At night we wanted to turn on the air, we were told that they turn the AC off for the winter. We opened the sliders which was a huge mistake, none of us were able to sleep between the constant noise of emergency vehicles and the mosquitos! Even though it was winter, we got eaten alive by mosquitos. We decided on the second night to just suffer through the heat. The morning breakfast spread is big with a lot of options, but it is extremely busy. The wait staff members were not friendly or helpful at all. The biggest thing that bothered me is what I will call the smoker's gauntlet. Every time we arrived or left the hotel, we had to walk through the covered area through tons of people smoking, it was absolutely disgusting. I have no idea why this hotel can't find another area and dedicate it to smokers. The location of the hotel is a bit far from tourist stuff, but it is a quick walk to the subway. Marriott needs to take a look at this property and put some money into renovating it.
