We were invited to lunch here and to be honest did not have high expectations. However we were…read morehappily surprised. Bian has both cooked meals and pick your own sushi. The salmon nigiri and eel nigiri were great. Salmon was fresh, and they were on point with the eel to rice ratio. For pick your own sushi I usually tend to steer clear from ones that are wrapped in seaweed, unless it was just made, as the seaweed is always soggy from sitting there for a while. In terms of cooked meals, the spicy chicken katsu don was delicious. It was missing spice but the chicken was tender and coating was perfect. We also tried the pork curry don. The pork was very dry (get chicken instead) but we enjoyed the curry itself. They do small donburis for $8 which is great if you are wanting to have some sides too - highly recommend. Our favourite has to be the tempura. It's $9 for a small and $14 for a large with assorted veges and prawn. The veges were super sweet (kumara, pumpkin, long beans, onion) we actually enjoyed them over the prawns which is definitely a first for seafood lovers like us. The batter was just right, not too thick and not overcooked. They provide tempura sauce unlike some sushi places that just give you soy sauce. The staff there are also super friendly and food comes out quickly. There is lots of seating both inside and out. Will definitely be getting tempura and chicken katsu before hitting the Takapuna shops next time we are in the area and craving Japanese!

For reals, this place rolls out some fresh to death sushi!…read more Normally I find it hard to get excited about sushi but this place is next level. The ingredients they use are incredibly fresh - no slimy salmon or limp cucumber here. Not to mention their topping to rice ratio is unreal and they don't stinge on the avo. I am huge fan of their vege roll - packed full of carrot, cabbage, capsicum and the like. Warning: The lines here at lunch times can get a little daunting but don't let that deter you - these guys operate like a well-oiled machine. Simply grab your box and tongs, choose your sushi and pay - in and out in 5 mins tops!

This is our second time here. The first time we came we had tasted them little sushi platters and…read morethe stir fry yakisoba noodles bowl. It was really good, so we decided to order in and we ordered katsu chicken curry extra chicken and the chicken was really fresh and the curry was yum . As for today, my husband ordered his curry katsu chicken again and I ordered garlic chicken. My husband got the same thumbs up for the fresh chicken and the curry. Except for my garlic chicken, the rice was really good but the chicken was a bit dry. My husband devoured his good and finished mine. Then we ordered an yakisoba noodles plate. Now that was really good too. We heard him cooking this dish right after we ordered. This place is really good you will not be disappointed.

Location is prime for students, corporate heads and maybe some daytime boozers. My girlfriend and I stumbled upon this place on our way to inspect an apartment in CBD (I wouldn't recommend it) when we walked pass Nuri Maru and saw the $4 box deals. Whaaaat!? 4 bucks!?! We had about 10-minutes before inspection but I didn't want to miss out on that chicken karaage box or the spam masubi or the assorted salmon sushi. Soooo we detoured right inside. Pretty fun atmosphere you'd come to find at a typical Korean-style sushi restaurant - there was even a giant flat screen TV with K-Pop (Korean Pop) music videos on haha. We paid for our boxes and took a seat when a lovely lady from behind the counter asked if we wanted Miso Soup. I declined at first thinking she was trying to upsell me even after we had already paid. But then I noticed the beautiful sign that read "Free Miso for every $5 purchase" or something like that.. I saw "FREE" "Miso" and "$5" so I that's all I cared about. I quickly retracted my declination and said with conviction "YES!" She asked if we wanted two (one for my gf I guess haha).. Again, I said "YES!" as I nodded my head like an Asian school boy. Everything was surprisingly good for something that's been sitting out for who knows how long. The salmon roll was especially delicious - it had that milky, soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture.. mMMMmMmmM We're definitely coming back again.. maybe tomorrow since we have another inspection in the area hahah

The orders come with free miso soup ( yay free) and it's pretty good too, which is a super bonus. There are also a lot of hot asian foods available that are on offer like spicy ramen, udon, and teriyaki and rice dishes. We ordered the chicken teriyaki bento and pork katsu bento boxes and then also got a couple of one off rolls like the avocado and salmon, katsu roll, shrimp tempura roll and a couple more. All of them were really satisfying and the bento boxes were really generously portioned and good. It was big enough to share with my husband and we really enjoyed them. The bentos included a variety of foods like rice, the teriyaki, a veggie fritter, some sushi rolls, among some other foods we were able to try. The manager told us that the bentos change seasonally and in the summer they have fresh fruit and salads too. The owners were really friendly and had great service. I would definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area or even a bit away. We drove by from Tauranga and it was worth the drive.
