Once the project began, it became clear that we needed much more in the form of literally rebuilding part of our fascia, awning and supports. Don and Zach kept us feeling calm and confident throughout the project -- which included them having to build temporarily walls (in the rain) to make the necessary repairs!! They worked diligently, kindly, and meticulously despite the setbacks the project threw our way, making a stressful home improvement situation feel nearly as light as a feather. Reliable, easy to work with, punctual, honest -- Abel Remodeling is a true gem. Now onto the next project with them.

Both Don and the men who work with him (plumber, electrician, tile installer, etc) were reliable, punctual, and knowledgeable in all they did. I have had a lot of crazy ideas & wants, and he was always willing to work with me to accomplish specifically what I was asking of him. He truly is a contractor that can do almost anything...from complete room remodels to fixing doors, drywall, painting, plumbing, replacing lighting, he has done it all for me. Apart from being very easy to work with, he is a true craftsman that understands good design and knows how to get the job done on schedule. As someone who works in the construction industry, I recognize and appreciate quality work. Sam is very professional and is not there to waste your time. The apartment had a lot of interest as soon as I posted the listing. The custom kitchen really made the apartment stand out in the increasingly competitive Pilsen neighborhood market. I just signed a lease for the apartment and could not be happier with the product and service that Sam has provided. This is the second project that he's done for me and, as usual, he didn't disappoint. I look forward to working with him on future projects. Do yourself a favor and give Sam a call for your next project. You won't regret it.

Sam is truly a Class Act…read more Having been through our fair share of harrowing and disappointing experiences with handymen and contractors in the past, we were extremely wary as we got started with our kitchen remodel planning process. As a matter of due diligence, we invited 10 contractors to propose a quote. For one, Sam's estimate was very competitive and reasonable (compared to other quotes). More importantly, he quickly grasped what our overall objectives were for the space, and proactively made some great suggestions that gave us the confidence that he was in sync with our requirements. As with most customers that go through a major remodel, my wife and I went back and forth on our choices for the cabinets and countertop, and not once did Sam flinch or pushback. On the contrary, there were certain additional items that were not part of our initial discussions (and estimate) that Sam voluntarily brought up and offered to do for us (at no additional cost) despite knowing that it would mean additional labor to him. Aware that we had wanted the remodel to be completed before Christmas as were hosting a party at home, Sam spent most of Christmas eve literally rolling up his sleeves and working non-stop for over 8 hours (without even meal breaks) and left only after he personally cleaned up the space. It is not always easy for small business owners to consistently put 'customer service' ahead of profits, but that is exactly what I observed of Sam, time and again. He did not accept the final payment until he was certain that we were 100% happy with the final outcome. I do not believe I have ever written such a long review for anyone, and that is hopefully a testimony to Sam's work. We cannot be more delighted with our new kitchen and I am happy to share some pictures. We look forward to working with Sam again on our future home projects.

This company refused to complete our three 3d renderings because we were so disappointed, shocked,…read moreand had safety concerns about the first rendering. Kristen, the wife of the owner, became belligerent, threatening us with a lawsuit if we reviewed them. They have only done one rendering, refusing to comply with a signed contract to complete the next two that are in the contract. They also refuse to reimburse any of the $699 we paid, even though they refuse to complete what was agreed upon in the signed contract. The BBB took this complaint, but as this company has done with the other complaints, they refuse to respond. I would stay clear of this company. The first rendering did not have proper posts that would even support the deck we wanted built. It looked like a kid did the rendering and they said it was because it was the first one. Well, I expected the first one to knock us off our feet since it was $699 and that it would only need a few tweaks. Instead it raised red flags. They should have been embarrassed to send it to us. Also, need to mention that Kristen inflates the price unjustifiably. Also wanted to note that it is not illegal to write a review of a company.

I have to question the positive reviews of Decked Out Builders LLC and here is why:…read more First, reviews are very short with at most a few sentences, there is no detail. Second, reviews are brimming over with superlatives like "very responsive", "amazing company", "could not be happier", "transforming our old deck into a masterpiece!", "They pride themselves in QUALITY work and it shows!" (notice the exclamation points for grandiosity). The "reviews" are a bit too positive to reflect the real world. NOTE that "could not be happier" vernacular was used in 2 reviews - Brian W. Oct 5, 2022 (San Francisco ? ? ?), and Jennifer B May 22, 2022 - which is pretty suspicious, perhaps written by Kristen Miller Bull Valley IL. Third, statements totally contradict my experience, like "Kristen and Tony were very responsive in answering all of our questions" where my experience was the exact opposite. "The entire process was smooth", while our reality was opposite because it was like pulling teeth with Kristen, "Incredibly helpful in making design choices", which is the real world means very high-priced add-ons that empty your wallet. Fourth, the "rah, rah" statements like "Don't hesitate and call Decked Out Builders for your next home project." which are over the top. and once again, use of the same vernacular by another "review" which said "Don't hesitate to call them!" Jennifer B who used the same vernacular as Mike R. NOTE: Through use of repetitive comments it appears that Brian W, Jennifer B, and Mike R are likely all the same person, or written by one. A scam has been presented to Yelp by one person impersonating others for the purpose of pumping up the reviews. Even if it occurred on 3 different accounts the writing was by one person. No company gets all positive reviews because that doesn't reflect society.
