This tiny hole-in-the-wall bistro with an unassuming menu is a class act, and an outstanding value…read more The host was friendly and welcoming and speaks just enough English. His wife(?) worked magic in the tiny kitchen. The house rosé was delicious, the best I've tasted in the Rhone so far, as was the house red wine, served chilled. Far better then one would expect for the price and for the house wine. Before the meal came we were given the most delicious local olives, and bread with garlic olive oil. I don't even like olives but these were very tasty. For entrees we had the burger and the Salade de Mattis, both of which came with lovely little roasted new potatoes. Sarah devoured the burger so I only got one tasty bite. The salad was yummy too, with tender pan-seared chicken with a delicate sauce, nicely dressed greens, and little rolls of eggplant, which I didn't like until I tasted them with the tomato sauce they were with - the chef worked some culinary magic to make the combination quite wonderful. My wife and I had dinner here tonight, and the owner told us that it was only their second day of being open! They showed no signs of working things out - everything was on point, from the decor to the service to the food. Everything is organic and they list all of the purveyors of their ingredients on the menu. I only wish I had saved room for dessert. I think we got very lucky getting in early, because the prices are sure to rise when this place gets discovered.

This is a husband & wife run place so the menu is "this us what she made today." - and they usually have 2 or 3 options for the main course. The deserts were also yummy. We had caramel apple crumble and pear tart w/dark chocolate.

This is a fantastic restaurant. Don't skip this if you have a chance…read more The building is unremarkable (I'm being kind; I could say ugly). But inside, it's transformed. Brilliant, simple, clean modern design is both exciting and soothing. The location is right on the river and I'd guess in the summer sitting on the deck with a glass of wine is pretty fabulous. The food was stellar and for the quality well-priced. We all had the Marche Menu--three courses for 30E. The starter was a amazing scallop carpaccio with sea urchin, salad, some crisps; the plat was a deconstructed duck breast, with some potatoes, mushrooms, and a few other things--amazing taste and lovely to look at too; the dessert was (and this is going to sound odd) a chestnut cake with marinated/carmelized celery. Sounds weird, tasted great. Throw in an amuse bouche and some cookies at the end and for the price of an extra-large meat lovers' pizza back in California, you can have a pretty incredible meal. I'll be thinking about this day for a while.

The entres were served in the main dining room by an accomplished and knowledgeable staff. Each dish was carefully explained. It started to rain heavily and we were facing a long wet walk back to our car, but Patrick the manager was good enough to offer us a ride. We would definitely return.
