Easily accessible if you're going eastbound on Meadowlands or southbound on Merivale, not so easily accessible if you're coming from other directions. The thing I like about this Esso is that it's always a few cents cheaper than other Esso locations nearby. It's definitely cheaper than the Esso near by house, and while I wouldn't drive all the way there just to gas up, if I'm in the area for other reasons, I'll fill up at this Esso over the Esso near my house. There are a good number of pumps and it's spacious. You can collect Optimum points at Esso, and if you have the Optimum App, they sometimes offer bonus points when you fuel up ;)

It's located right at a roundabout though and I hate roundabouts, lol. There's an Esso gas station on the other side of the roundabout. I've only ever paid at the pump here, so I don't know what the customer service is like but I've never had any problems. They do not have hand sanitizer dispensers by the pumps though, like Esso does across the roundabout. They have a number of pumps, but they are all 2 deep, so if you're the "back car" and the "front car" is not yet finished, and the pumps next to you or next to the car in front of you are occupied, you will have to back up. You can drive around is there's no one next to you, or if you're at an "end pump."

It's neighboured by a Dymon storage facility and a giant church, and it's on one of the most busy intersection corners in the South-West of Ottawa, off roads that could certainly use some attention (so bumpy getting in and out). Once you are in the lot, I must admit, this location was planned a lot more efficiently than many others. The lot is large making it easier to navigate (and avoid other drivers) and even thought there is a lot going on in that area, once you are in, it's quite smooth sailing. Again, be careful getting back out on to the roads - there are a lot of merge lanes in this area, which means there are quite a few drivers rushing to beat the line before the lane ends so they are driving a little faster than they potentially should be.

This is one of the few in the Nation's capital, located at the corner of Island Park & Wellington, in Westboro. If you don't know what a full-service gas station is, it is the crackpot misfit in the Corporate Gas Station world. This service peculiarity provides a personal touch, that was once a cornerstone of the industry, where staff attended to customers in a uniform complete with a cap and bow tie. Staff filled the tank, checked my windshieldwasher fluid & oil, squeegeed the windows & lights, and offered to test my tire pressure, all while I grooved to the beat of my iPhone playlist. In the maze of retail corporations the litter the Capital City, I appreciate the old school atmosphere and service. Their service earns my loyalty.

As much as I'm a sucker for Esso (read "Aeroplan Points") and like places where I can buy gas on a Hudson's Bay Company card, this place pretty much has everything that you'd want from a gas station. I can't believe that I'd rate this place a '5' and make it my favourite gas station, but by process of elimination, there has to be a "best gas station". I suppose this one's it. It's conveniently placed close to the Queensway, has more than enough space to manoeuvre around the pumps, and has SmartPumps so that you can pay at the pump and not have to venture inside. If you do, you're treated with a decent array of convenience store goodies, as well as a fully functional Tim Horton's. The clincher at this location is the ability to get Drive-Thru Tim Horton's, as well as a car wash. Dirty cars and double-double cravings can now queue up in one of two lines. Yeah, it's a pain to buy gas, so you may as well find a place that makes it a wee bit more bearable.
