I was looking for a job in preparation to move from NorCal to LA. I applied to Ultimate Staffing and they were so helpful and easy to talk to. They sent my resume to companies that suit my work experience. Serena took really good care of me and when she went on leave, May looked after me. I really appreciated that if I had any questions, I felt welcomed to reach out to them. Serena and May were both very informative about the companies they sent my resume to. After deciding to restart my career in non-profit management, I contacted Ultimate Staffing on March 10th. Alexis called me back and set up a Zoom interview for March 13th. We had a good meeting, and I told her more about my work experience and the type of non-profit position I was looking for. Alexis did make it clear that Ultimate Staffing cannot guarantee placement in a job, and recommended that I do my own search as well. I took her advice, and looked around Indeed and elsewhere. A couple of weeks later at the end of March, Alexis called me and asked me if I was still looking for a job. I must start with a disclaimer: If you have never worked through an agency it's good to keep and open mind and be flexible with your job search. When I was initially referred to Ultimate, my first assignment was in my field of interest but doing something I have never done before. Although Intimidating, I followed through with the assignment and was fortunate enough to be hired directly through the company. I don't use this resource regularly but my experience was so bad that I felt the need to warn others before wasting their time. I dealt with Lauren Snyder (Branch Manager) and Mackenzie Edwards who is one of the recruiters there. We talked to an initial person who set up my meeting with Lauren (Who I won't mention as I thought she was not at fault at all). I went in to have my personal meeting with Lauren and ended up starting with Mackenzie due to Lauren being tied up. The meeting went great and we reviewed my goals and the types of companies that I was looking for etc. Lauren came in and the meeting progressed. They mentioned what a great applicant I was and that it should be easy to find something. After some discussion Lauren mentioned that they had some internal positions available if I had interest which I was. Now for the bad stuff.......Lauren followed up with emails that day thanking me and giving me a breakdown of job responsibilities for the internal positions which did not have any salary or commission benefits listed on the description. She asked for my thoughts and I promptly responded saying I would be great for either spot but that I'd need to know the compensation packages etc. in order for me to decide. 7 days lapsed without a response to this email.......I called the office and spoke with Lauren again expressing my interest but that I'd need to know the particulars with pay. She apologized for not responding saying she was on vacation and that she knew she owed me a call. She said she was working herself on a compensation document that was easier to read than their internal document which stated their commission and pay requirements. She said please give me some time to work on this and I'll send it to you. She sent me an additional job which again had no compensation information or details on anything of that sort. To me for a staffing agency to not even be able to give someone details on compensation is ridiculous as this is a standard question. She asked for my thoughts on the job and I again said I feel it is something that I can do but I'd need to know the details on the compensation end of things. No response to this email EVER I followed up via email again with no response and finally decided to call their office. Someone said she was tied up on the line and I asked for a call back which never came. The next day I called again and she was again busy or on a call. Eventually Mackenzie got on the phone and tried to talk to me and asked why I was calling. She again put me on hold for Lauren and after a few minutes Mackenzie returned to speak to me again. (I took this as Lauren was ignoring me and Mackenzie was being told to handle me going forward) Mackenzie said she would touch base with Lauren and one of them would call me back. Hours later still with no call back I decided to call again (Around 4pm) and Mackenzie answered again. I asked again to speak to Lauren and Mackenzie said well I as your recruiter will help you with whatever I can. (At this point it was clear I was being actively avoided by Lauren and passed off to Mackenzie without even getting a returned phone call). Mackenzie went on to say she had a chance to speak to Lauren and that the internal jobs had been actively accepting applicants and that they had 2 applicants in the final stages ready to be hired. Mackenzie went on to say that there was really nothing in my desired field or range at this time. I was so angered and frustrated by the lack of professionalism, honesty, and follow up by Lauren and Ultimate Staffing as a whole. My wife on the way home from work decided to call our initial contact who set up our meeting with Lauren to see what the difficulty was in connecting with Lauren via email/phone. This person relayed the message to Lauren who then decided to call me at 5:00pm on the dot.....as she was walking out of the door for the day to "Return my missed call" and to help. I finally received my call from Lauren today with serious attitude and lack of apology or understanding on her part. I explained the above situation how I felt brushed off, ignored, and dealt with in a rude unprofessional manner. I explained how emails and calls weren't being returned. She gave multiple excuses including that her staff was not giving her the missed call messages, that she hadn't gotten a response to her emails to me, and that they couldn't afford the rate I was looking for anyways. She made up a story about the document she promised as well that they were sensitive. She also said me calling as well as my wife was "bizarre" which I felt was out of line. She was rude, disingenuous, and frankly terrible at her job. I left it by saying I don't wish to deal with them and saying I was done. To sum things up: Unprofessional Rude Lies Lack of contact to the point where you need to trick them into calling you back Not even close to helpful Ultimate waste of time don't bother read more

I was asked to write a review for this location, and while I hate doing things like this, I feel like it is the very least I can do for Karina, who has been nothing but kind to me, and never stopped helping me. She knew what I wanted, and kept letting me know when positions that I might be interested in had an opening, and never gave up pushing for me. I spent 2 years working at the front desk of a staffing agency in San Francisco. I've also been laid off 3 times in the past 6 years. So I know what it's like to be on both sides of the job hunting scene. It's exhausting. It's demoralizing. Self-worth is non-existent. And on the other side you're juggling the needs of dozens of clients who change their minds all the time. Then there's the hundreds of candidates and applicants all who want to find meaningful and well-compensated work. It is a lot. This is my experience with Ultimate Staffing which occurred in September/October 2019. I applied to a listing that I saw from Ultimate Staffing and within 24 hours Lainey reached out to set-up an in-person interview at their offices in Pasadena. I prepared like I always did because I knew what to expect from doing this dozens of times. During the interview I was impressed by the kindness and empathy that Lainey emanated. I've had great conversations with recruiters in the past only for it to crumble into ashes. So I didn't get my hopes up. She asked for my resume to create a profile so she could present me to her team. I told her would be fantastic. And what followed was the requisite skills assessment tests for Microsoft Office and typing. (In the last six months I had taken the same skills assessment test for 3 other agencies so I'm pretty tired of these tests but I understand the necessity to provide this to their clients.) No sooner than I had finished my Excel assessment, with my permission Lainey had submitted my resume to a client. I had only interviewed with Lainey yesterday! The interview with this potential client never came to fruition because I couldn't do the commute. I was a bit distraught since I've had recruiters ghost me once they learned that I could only interview at places where I could commute by bus. The following Monday, which was 5 days after I told Lainey I couldn't interview with her client, Lainey contacted me again. She didn't have a long term assignment or permanent role that was in line with my skills/exp/interest but she did have a single-day assignment that she pitched to me. I leapt upon the opportunity because I needed the money and something to do with myself instead of staring at job boards all day again. Before the assignment I had to go back into their office to verify my documents for the I-9 forms. I had a recent nightmare interview a few days prior and asked Lainey if she had a few minutes so I could tell her about it. She was very lovely and made the time to sit down with me. I was even more surprised and delighted when the branch manager Lauren came in and actually sat with us for about 10-15 minutes. We were discussing my goals and interests and my forthcoming assignment -- along with a bunch of other casual things. It was a great conversation. It felt like they had my back because they DID. I had spent weeks and months chasing down previous recruiters and agencies to try and stay in contact with them and never have anything happen. With Ultimate Staffing I had applied to one of their job listings, interviewed at their agency, did their tests, and then was pitched a not one, but TWO job opportunities in less than 2 WEEKS. And before my day-assignment ever happened, one of Lainey's coworkers had called and asked if I was interested in another short-term assignment. My mind was blown!! This level of empathy, follow-up and follow-through is truly impressive and I am forever grateful for their help. Lainey and Lauren and the rest of the people at Ultimate Staffing will treat you like a human being and work to understand your needs, your goals and actually see you for who you are. Why does it take them so long to respond? It shouldn't take weeks to reply to a single email. The brief experience I did have with them was unpleasant as they seemed to be annoyed with talking to anybody over the phone. They won't respond to emails so I had no choice but to call, but they sounded irritated that I was calling to ask why I never heard anything back from them. They obviously haven't found me any work because I still haven't heard back from them. They can't even been bothered to give a simple status update. read more

Despite applying online; meeting with the recruiter Donna Driscoll; taking the required tests; and following up with the agency---nothing. Absolutely nothing. I would not recommend this agency at all. In fact the friend who referred me informed this recruiter also dropped the ball with her and her career search. Was working with Dona the beginning of this year. I had told Dona that I worked with another agency and that person had left me high and dry. I went home after our little interview and did not receive the test the first weekend that she said she was going to send them. I emailed her about a week and half later and finally received the testand took the test. Never heard anything about what my scores was and never heard about any jobs for about 3 months. I emailed Dona asking what was going and what were my scores. She emailed me back telling me she thought that I found a job. Which I had not yet. I tried a few times within this year to email her back but nothing. I should have tried calling, but I was just fed up with the whole situation. read more

I moved to Pasadena on April and started looking for staffing agencies, out of 5 or 6 only Ultimate and other agency got back to me and scheduled me for an interview. First I went to the other agency, I had to wait for more than 30 minutes, fill out a lot of documents and then having a very unpleasant interview with a woman that barely look at me and who contradicted herself saying that I needed to quit my job in order to find something and after I resigned she said that it could take her up to two months to help me. I was very disappointed and went to Ultimate for my interview, Dona was very friendly, kind and attentive; the interview went fantastic she actually listened to me and made me feel important. A couple of weeks after I got a phone call for an interview with a company where I am actually going to be directly hired after 8 months of hard work. I have only great things to say about Ultimate. I felt bad for my friend who stayed positive all the time while the employees at the Pasadena office gave her an attitude and lied through their teeth about the job she received an e-mail on last Saturday. She caught them in a lie about Dona Druscoll not working in that office and about her being in the Orange County office ( which is evidently not true) and they don't even have the decency to apologize to her. I usually don't review anything on Yelp... but this I had to post. I have been registered with Ultimate - Pasadena for a while now. Mackenzie has been a sweetheart in trying to get me a permanent full time position since 2011. I was able to find a position in Riverside on my own without knowing it was seasonal, that is when I contacted Mackenzie to find me a position closer to home. That is where Lauren Snyder came into the picture pushing me to take a position in Pasadena that she claimed to be a long term temp position. So I resigned from my position in Riverside to take this new opportunity. And within 3 1/2 weeks, I was told by the school director that my position was being filled by someone else and my services were not needed. I immediately contacted Ultimate and asked them what was going on. They denied knowing anything. They contacted the school and the school told them that my position was given to someone who had applied for that same position... needless to say I was livid. Ultimate apologized for the mishap and said that they would help me find another opportunity. Well its 5/26/18 and they haven't found me anything. All I get is apologies... I am very disappointed with Ultimate Staffing. They are very quick to say that I look on my own for opportunities.... Honestly, I feel they should say.. We cannot or don't want to help you... They tried to show me another opportunity, first telling me it would be a long term position... then another phone call later it was for a week, then the final phone call it was only a day... They are not very professional as far as giving leeds to potential candidates. They mislead candidates with false hope. Mackenzie Edwards is the only one that I felt cared and was truly working for me as far as finding an opportunity. I had to go to another office in Orange County to apply for a position to find an opportunity and I also was able find something through Jen Nguyen of the Brea office find something for me. Bottom line, Ultimate Staffing... are the worst, they only do is give candidates false hope. Craigslist, Indeed, are probably better than Ultimate Staffing at least the Pasadena, Ca office.... I had no choice to leave 1 star... if I could I wouldn't have rate them, they don't deserve it. read more
