During my most recent visit, I decided to stick with my usual services but also add a hydrafacial for an extra refresh, as this was my first time trying that treatment there. I was a bit surprised that there wasn't much communication throughout the service. I wasn't given an explanation of what steps were being done or what to expect, which left me feeling unsure during the appointment. At one point, my face began to sting, and when I asked if that was normal, I was told yes, but there wasn't much additional context provided. A few hours after the redness subsided, I noticed several small nicks on my forehead and below my eye. This was unexpected, especially since I've had dermaplaning done many times before without ever experiencing cuts. Looking back, I believe this may have been the cause of the stinging I felt earlier in the service. Overall, my skin does look refreshed, though still slightly red, which I understand can happen. However, I also didn't receive much guidance on aftercare or what to avoid post-treatment, so I ended up having to look that up on my own. I've had good experiences here in the past, which is why this visit felt a bit disappointing. I hope this feedback is helpful, as I do think clearer communication during the service and better aftercare guidance would make a big difference.

Thanks to a sheer act of spontaneity I finally made it happen and Penzone made the cut. I just happened to be scrolling through my Yelp app looking for salons nearby and Penzone jumped out at me because this location has been there forever. I've also had my hair cut at one of their other locations forever ago and when I looked at their availability, they had an appointment the very next day at 5pm. I didn't even care who the stylist was, I just needed it done. I arrived right on time, checked in, and grabbed a beverage while I waited. It wasn't long before I was greeted by my stylist, Sage. She was easy to talk to, listened to what I wanted, and gave good advice and direction when I was tempted to do something I wasn't planning on doing. I knew exactly what I wanted, as I was looking to get the same cut I did last summer. Your basic long bob, about collar bone length. We did the washing and cutting and drying and cutting again and I was out of there in about an hour and a half. I'm really pleased with it and enjoyed Sage's approach so I made an appointment to come back in a few months. The price point was cheaper than the place I used to go to and I was way more satisfied.

I was randomly assigned a hairstylist, Minnie, and it was like the stars in the universe aligned because we clicked right away. She asked me all about my hair and what I was looking for. I'm a wing it type of person but I did have some things in mind. I ended up getting a trim with some wisby longish bangs and she was able to keep my length which was awesome. At the end she mentioned the different products she used in my hair and sent me home with a "care card" with recommendations on when to return and who else to see if she wasn't in. The whole experience was lovely and I'll definitely be back in a few months!

When I went back recently, it wasn't as great of an experience. The girl who cut my hair was friendly but my haircut was uneven. I caught that some of it was uneven in the back and she fixed it but then when I got home and curled my own hair (because it wasn't styled there) I realized that the two sides were uneven and the back too. With the uneven hair, I tried to call the salon before I had to leave to go out of time but calls went straight to a voicemail and they weren't very timely in calling me back. Update: They responded to my comment on their booking site and said the manager would be reaching out, but there has been no contact. If I didn't handle getting my hair fixed elsewhere, I would be even more disappointed.

I used to only trust one person to cut my hair for 14 years. Now that haircuts cost an arm and a leg where I live, I'm always in search for a reasonably priced haircut when I'm traveling. Gretchen, should charge more!!! I'm not sure if it's the premium products this salon uses or Gretchen's magic but I've never had a blow out last this long!
