I came to this location to get my hair done by a stylist named Chelsea. I have had my hair done by her twice. The first time, she was nice and easygoing but she'd tug at my hair so hard while she was styling it that my head would jerk back and forth. She was also aggressively applying the shampoo and conditioner, it even hurt but I didn't say anything because I gave her the benefit of the doubt. She was able to lighten my hair from a box color jet black to a dimensional caramel and medium brown. I loved it so much that I thought she'd be my go to hair stylist. I made it clear to her that I loved it and that the goal now was to lighten the left over medium/dark brown but to keep the dimension that the caramel and light brown highlights gave. The goal was to keep aiming towards a light brown with dimension. And I told her I loved the results from the first color and that I wanted to continue lightening the dark brown.
About a week or so ago, I was at this location doing some shopping and I saw her walking by. I greeted her and told her I'd like to come in to get my roots touched up and lightening up of the dark/medium brown that was left over from the first appointment. She then went ahead and scheduled the appointment herself.
I came in for my second appointment with her. I was an hour late and I called several times to communicate that. I had every intention of tipping her a little extra for still taking me in that day. When I got to the store, I happily greeted her with a smile. She did not respond and went straight to the chair, pulled it out, and stared at me while I put my stuff down on her salon station. I thought to myself, maybe she's upset that I'm late. Well, I sat down and she didn't say a word. She grabbed her book and showed me a light brown color and told me this would lighten up any remaining medium dark brown. As I'm sitting there in complete silence, I tried several times to engage in conversation and asked how she'd been and such. She answered short and disregarded any attempt to conversing. She did not want to speak to me and only spoke when she answered short or gave me directions. She did not explain what she was doing nor asked questions. She gave no indication that she'd be stripping off ALL the light color and doing an ALLOVER color change. Mind you, I don't get my hair done often and I have no idea what she's doing. I trusted her to remember what I asked for and what my goal was. I trusted that she was going to give me what I asked and would be paying for. She booked and applied a more expensive service. During the application of color, I asked her to also trim my dead ends and give me soft bangs like Kate Middleton's. While she was shampooing my hair, she asked me if I would like to have deep conditioning and that IT CAME WITH THE HAIRCUT. I understood that the deep conditioning was included in the haircut, meaning I WAS NOT GOING TO BE CHARGED AN EXTRA $10. The play in words to try to upsell is just disgusting to me. I later found out at the end of the service that it was an extra $10. So then we go back to her station for the cut and blow dry. I see that my wet hair looks BLACK and I internally freaked out. I then realized what she had done. Every single bit of lighter colors were gone. And after the blow dry, I was left with this dark brown. How could she hear me ask for LIGHT BROWN and proceed to make my hair DARK BROWN, almost as dark as the jet black she was able to lighten on the first app? After she was done, I confusedly told her my hair was dark brown. I was clearly upset and not happy. She dismissed me and just told me it would wash out? Wash out to a light color? I couldn't believe this lady. I then went to the bathroom to wipe off my face she got full of color product. I was so upset that I cried in the bathroom before I walked out to her simply handing my ticket. She could not care less. I then spoke to the manager and explained what happened. Chelsea then came up to the register just to argue with me and basically told ME I was wrong!!!!! She did not once apologize or try to make things right. She did not acknowledge that she ruined by hair and gave me rough short bangs. SHE IS THE WORST HAIR STYLIST. Absolutely horrible customer service, she does not care to get to know you, she tries to upsell the ticket as much as possible, she does not care about what you want but cares more about what is easiest and convenient for her. She was rude, distant, cold, and careless. I did not pay a single cent for this horrible service if I can even call it that. After all of this, the manager had the audacity to ask me if I wanted to tip her!!! Tip her for what? For ruining my hair? For doing an all over dark brown?? When that is precisely what I didn't want????? What kind of customer service is that, seriously? The lady isn't even nice. DO NOT GET YOUR HAIR DONE BY CHELSEA TARKINGTON. Absolute garbage.
