Was here today around the afternoon. The short older asian lady was profiling me and my kids in the store. I am certain she isn't loss prevention or has any training on loss prevention because blatantly following someone in a store is not part of that training. Too bad because I was about to spend money on concealer and other items. Went in on a less busy Saturday morning asking if someone could help me put on lashes if I bought them, two SAs say "yes". Asked where the lashes were and they pointed in a direction, but didn't actually show me where they were, had to ask someone else doing inventory to show me exactly where they were. Found a few pairs I wanted, went back to where I initially saw the two SAs and they were gone. I did not have time to walk through the store to find them or someone else to help me, nor should I have to. I kindly put down all 4 pair of lashes and left the store. Will never be back! read more

This store was so packed when we visited. The aisles are organized but it was just filled from wall to wall. It was a tight squeeze along with the numerous customers milling about. The worst was the checkout line. Wow. We waited a long while and there were four people working the registers. They just didn't seem too interested in moving efficiently. There were also two additional workers behind the register who were NOT ringing customers up. When a store is that busy, it just shouldn't ever happen. You need ALL hands on deck to keep your customers happy. Nobody should be standing around when you have a line curving back around into your store. It looks like laziness, and that's just annoying. horrible customer service:( I bought over $300 worth of product and had a screaming baby with me so I didnt notice that they did not apply my available points to the order - I returned two days later with the reciept and asked them to return and rebill - they made me not only go home to get the product but it had to be in an original package. I explained that I was keeping it; all I needed was the credit applied and the manager was very unfriendly and unhelpful, even though I was being nice - there are other places to get the same products, I plan to use those in the future ;( read more

An online order was placed the night prior. We arrived to pick up the order the following afternoon. Since there were no available parking spaces and we had somewhere to be at a certain time, the store was called to request curbside pickup. According to the website, curbside is still listed as an option. The instructions indicate to call upon arrival and inform them that you are outside. I called the store and there were several rings before the call was answered, which was not really a big problem. However, when I asked if I could use curbside because of no available parking and also because of some time constraints, I was initially told that curbside was an option. The call was placed on hold and when she returned she asked if I could come into the store because I needed to show my identification. I have the following questions: Does this location have curbside or not? Are there certain times of the day or certain situations when curbside is not available? Does the website need to be updated to reflect the choice to offer curbside, sometimes, but not at other times? The call was placed on hold a second time and the manager took over the call. She said that they do not have curbside. Since there were two of us in the car, I went inside to pickup the order. It was definitely a long checkout line. Since I had never used their online order pickup, I didn't realize that there was a order pickup counter. Once I noticed it, I walked over there. The person who answered the call was about to assist me, but the manager told her that she would assist. To expedite the process, I had the identification in hand and ready, name and all and then she asked for the email. Because her request was not clear, I began to provide the email address and she said no, the actual email regarding the order. She already had the order in hand, so the interaction appeared a little extra. I did not have the phone with me, so she said that it was okay. She viewed the identification and handed me the order. I am not sure why the photo identification did not suffice, especially since everything matched. read more

Not well stocked. I would say about 25% of the items in the store were completely out. For example, I wanted mini versions of the benefits cosmetics blush, but they were out of a bunch of different mini versions and ever some of the full-size versions. I feel like they could reorder their aisles and it would make more sense. There is makeup in the front left corner of the store, all along the right side and then one row in the center. The hair supplies are in the back left corner but then they also start to spread along the edge of the wall coming forward. The lady who helped me at the register was very nice though. Another employee asked me if there was anything that I needed help with but was not pushy when I said that I was doing fine. read more

Went in to grab a few things to restock, and as I check out and get ready to leave, the employe behind the counter didn't give me a bag just wrapped my stuff in the recipt and it caused me to accidentally drop and break my bronzer. No huge mess or anything just a few little crumbs, but her switch up of attitude towards me was significant. She got mad and was being super passive aggressive towards me and made me go over to a tester area to get dry tissues to clean it up while her and her other employee sat behind the counter watching me, snickering and rolling there eyes while other customers waited to be helped. She even made a nasty comment about me buying cheap makeup cause I can't be trusted with expensive things. Terrible customer service. read more

*DO NOT GET YOUR HAIR DONE BY CHELSEA TARKINGTON* I came to this location to get my hair done by a stylist named Chelsea. I have had my hair done by her twice. The first time, she was nice and easygoing but she'd tug at my hair so hard while she was styling it that my head would jerk back and forth. She was also aggressively applying the shampoo and conditioner, it even hurt but I didn't say anything because I gave her the benefit of the doubt. She was able to lighten my hair from a box color jet black to a dimensional caramel and medium brown. I loved it so much that I thought she'd be my go to hair stylist. I made it clear to her that I loved it and that the goal now was to lighten the left over medium/dark brown but to keep the dimension that the caramel and light brown highlights gave. The goal was to keep aiming towards a light brown with dimension. And I told her I loved the results from the first color and that I wanted to continue lightening the dark brown. About a week or so ago, I was at this location doing some shopping and I saw her walking by. I greeted her and told her I'd like to come in to get my roots touched up and lightening up of the dark/medium brown that was left over from the first appointment. She then went ahead and scheduled the appointment herself. I came in for my second appointment with her. I was an hour late and I called several times to communicate that. I had every intention of tipping her a little extra for still taking me in that day. When I got to the store, I happily greeted her with a smile. She did not respond and went straight to the chair, pulled it out, and stared at me while I put my stuff down on her salon station. I thought to myself, maybe she's upset that I'm late. Well, I sat down and she didn't say a word. She grabbed her book and showed me a light brown color and told me this would lighten up any remaining medium dark brown. As I'm sitting there in complete silence, I tried several times to engage in conversation and asked how she'd been and such. She answered short and disregarded any attempt to conversing. She did not want to speak to me and only spoke when she answered short or gave me directions. She did not explain what she was doing nor asked questions. She gave no indication that she'd be stripping off ALL the light color and doing an ALLOVER color change. Mind you, I don't get my hair done often and I have no idea what she's doing. I trusted her to remember what I asked for and what my goal was. I trusted that she was going to give me what I asked and would be paying for. She booked and applied a more expensive service. During the application of color, I asked her to also trim my dead ends and give me soft bangs like Kate Middleton's. While she was shampooing my hair, she asked me if I would like to have deep conditioning and that IT CAME WITH THE HAIRCUT. I understood that the deep conditioning was included in the haircut, meaning I WAS NOT GOING TO BE CHARGED AN EXTRA $10. The play in words to try to upsell is just disgusting to me. I later found out at the end of the service that it was an extra $10. So then we go back to her station for the cut and blow dry. I see that my wet hair looks BLACK and I internally freaked out. I then realized what she had done. Every single bit of lighter colors were gone. And after the blow dry, I was left with this dark brown. How could she hear me ask for LIGHT BROWN and proceed to make my hair DARK BROWN, almost as dark as the jet black she was able to lighten on the first app? After she was done, I confusedly told her my hair was dark brown. I was clearly upset and not happy. She dismissed me and just told me it would wash out? Wash out to a light color? I couldn't believe this lady. I then went to the bathroom to wipe off my face she got full of color product. I was so upset that I cried in the bathroom before I walked out to her simply handing my ticket. She could not care less. I then spoke to the manager and explained what happened. Chelsea then came up to the register just to argue with me and basically told ME I was wrong!!!!! She did not once apologize or try to make things right. She did not acknowledge that she ruined by hair and gave me rough short bangs. SHE IS THE WORST HAIR STYLIST. Absolutely horrible customer service, she does not care to get to know you, she tries to upsell the ticket as much as possible, she does not care about what you want but cares more about what is easiest and convenient for her. She was rude, distant, cold, and careless. I did not pay a single cent for this horrible service if I can even call it that. After all of this, the manager had the audacity to ask me if I wanted to tip her!!! Tip her for what? For ruining my hair? For doing an all over dark brown?? Ask for Denise Campbell! She is a great listener, gave me a beautiful haircut and recommended products that worked so well. She asked me what I did and didn't want cut, answered my questions about how it would look if it was cut "this" way or "that" way, and checked in with me while cutting to make sure I was still liking it. I really needed a haircut as my split ends were pretty bad and a haircut was way overdue, my hair was looking pretty frizzy but she made my hair look pretty close to the reference photos I gave and the products (Feather-Light Protein Cream from Curlsmith, and some light hair oil she keeps at her station) she recommended made it feel a lot healthier, softer and smoother. She trimmed in just the right places and took the whole process very carefully to make sure I was comfortable with the ways she was cutting. She seemed very experienced and knew just how to do methods she was using. She washed and dried my hair, the way she styled it looked great, and the hair cream she gave me made it feel very smooth and a few hours later now it is still very soft. read more

Would highly recommend another place of business solely due to unprofessionalism. My friend and I booked an appointment a week ago. Two days ago my friends got a call saying her appointment was being moved to a later time. Today was both of our appointments and 20 minutes ago the stylist for my friend called out sick. I called to see if my friend could take my appointment as they would take about the same time as she was getting her roots fixed and i was getting highlights. The lady that answered the phone was one, not very knowledgeable but rude on top of that. I asked to speak with the stylist I booked with to verify that we COULD NOT switch per the receptionist. My stylist called back and was about to cancel my appointment as she was over booked (at this point I would not even want it!!). My stylist was kind over the phone so I will give them that but how realistic is it that two friends can find another appointment same day!! Do not recommend if you are looking to get your hair done on the day you booked. read more

Hey there's a brand new Ulta in Arundel Mills, what more do you need to know? How about, it's a much better use of the space that used to hold the Neiman Marcus Last Call. It's near the Coach store, what you don't have the layout of the entire mall memorized? Anyway, I was there to wander around, gawk at a new mass make up store and add to my collection of Skinfood, so I didn't need help. (All three missions accomplished.) However, a clerk offered to help me a few minutes after I entered and again a little bit later. The clerk who rang me out was new and needed a little help from the manager, but everyone was friendly and it wasn't like I was trying to catch a plain. I went in on a Monday evening and it was very quiet. I imagine the pace is a bit more ... intense on weekends but as I said: It's a brand new Ulta, what more do you need to know? read more

I ordered Cologne to be picked up at the Anne Arundel store. It was a gift that I needed same day pickup. Imagine my surprise when I received and email stating the item would be shipped in 5 to 8 business days. I called customer service and they were absolutely no help. They provided no resolution or compensation. Thanks a lot for nothing. This was not the fault of the store location but Ulta Beauty customer service and their online process sucks. The service to find items is great... however, the cash register line is long and obnoxious because of the 12 people working at the store, only one person appears to be able to work the register.... literally there were 2 officers, 1 manager, 1 artist, 1 random person, and 1 cashier hovering around the registers with a line of 6 people... I'll never go back considering the obliviousness of the staff with regards to the wait time in line. read more

I was so excited to work here!! I love makeup! At first everything was great.. then I saw the GM and other managers were very rude to the employees with how they spoke to them and just the over all toxic environment was not good. I would show up for shift only to have them say, oh we made a mistake with the schedule!! How frustrating loosing hours. They won't even have you work the floor if they don't like you. The manager barely spoke or gotten to know me. She already had her favorites and advanced the people she liked. I was never shown anything new so therefore I felt very disposable. They have this point system, so never mind if you are sick, they DON'T care and they will take point away if you have to call out due to being sick. Overall.. bad experience. I will NEVER shop this particular store ever again, I will drive out of my way to go to other stores or even sephora!! read more

First let me say how much I LOVE Ulta. The store was clean and nicely set-up. They had everything in stock that I needed. My rating is purely on the checkout and customer service aspect. When I entered the store, the two employees at the front, one being the manager, did not greet me or ask if I needed help finding anything. They just continued on with the conversation they were having about how tired they were. When I went to checkout, the cashier - which mind you was the same manager who did not greet me when I walked in - was not friendly at all. Didn't greet me when I stepped up, acted annoyed when I wanted to use my points, and didn't even finish checking me out. ..handed me off to another employee. Then just walked away. read more
