Many of the sales staff are very helpful, which is very nice. However, there are not a lot of samples at the store so if you buy something you're kind of guessing. Returns here are almost impossible-- even though they tell you, they will take items back they do not. So then you're stuck with something that's not right for you. read more

As soon as one the members noticed that they could not find the order for obvious reasons, she was sweet and kind enough to get it done for me. THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE SALON AT ULTA: I have had my hair highlighted by Tavga a few times now and I LOVE it! She really listens to my hair goals and is willing to tell me what will and what won't work for my hair. I also like the color of my existing roots (ash blonde) and she uses babylights to blend in my roots beautifully with the color. I am at a level 10 toner and we found a great color combination of Shades EQ 010NW (Iced Pina) and 010P (Ivory Pearl). The pearl softens the yellow of the Iced Pina. My first visit with her included some color correction because I had areas of orange/brassiness, but she took the extra time to seamlessly blend in those areas with the babylights. My most recent visit included more chunky highlights, so my natural base/roots show through for contrast. I also had her trim my bangs and they look great! Such a quiet location. I don't know if I came on an off time during a weekend, but there weren't many people inside shopping. With that said it was like there were few employees working. I had to walk around a bit trying to look for a sales associate. I needed to pick up a few things and the selection of items was decent and the shelves were stocked. This review is for the salon and it's long but pls read. Let me start by saying I NEVER write reviews anywhere but if I can help someone save their sanity I will. I came here in November and wanted to get full Highlights. I schedule an appointment with Tavga and had no clue who she was and never been to this Ulta before. (I've been to Northridge and one other location and LOVED it) but I took a chance and haha that was the worst decision ever. Again, I'm blonde naturally but have a little darker/almost grey/light brown outgrowth naturally so just wanted to make some highlights to freshen up my hair. She took forever and had 2 clients waiting in-line very impatient as well. And once she was done I was a brunette? I thought it was only the lighting in there + very stressed considering she and her clients were all waiting so I went back home and back home I'm like no this is not okay. I went in there asking to become lighter and she made me darker. So I went back there, spoke with the manager and other employees bc Tavga was busy. And let me tell you no one wanted to help me even though they did wrong. My husband even had to stop by to literally scream at them until they caved and told me they could make it up to me by scheduling an appointment in 2 weeks bc they can't make more highlights now or my hair would break. So we asked the manager if this is free bc they messed up my hair at the first place and he's like yes ofc! Fast forward 2 weeks, Tavga or the manager is no where to be seen just an annoying lady who works there who thinks she's the manager and another older lady who did my hair. And they wanted to put a toner in my hair to lighten it up more and I asked about more highlight and she said "yes sure but that's gonna cost you" haha we literally asked the manager and he's like "no ofc it's free, we messed it up so it's our job to fix it". I argued with her but after hours I literally gave up and let them put in a toner and it was better sure, I could walk around in public but I was not satisfied no. Far from it. They are very unprofessional and they don't know what they are doing so go to another Ulta salon if you want to save yourself a lot of headache. And the second pic is from a video hence why the quality is so bad but this was taken a day before I went there and you can see how blonde I am with just a little darker roots. read more

The cashier ladies are usually so fun and chatty so no problems in that department. I do however dislike when I get treated poorly for no reason by the people that are supposed to help me. I walked into the perfume department and started smelling them with my friend, and some of the perfumes start beeping. We laugh about it and move on, and before going to the next perfume section, we get stopped and ask if we need help. The tone of voice was definitely not because she wanted to help us, but because she thought as teenagers, we were here to steal. I asked her a question about where I could find a concealer and felt her responses were judgy, like I was "dumb" for not knowing exactly what I wanted. I even tried to make a joke out of my confusion and just got stared at. Finally getting to the section, I ask her to help with shade matches and tell her that the shade I have at home turned a little too yellow for me. She rudely points to a shade saying "you are this one". I tell her that's the one I have at home and it's still a bit yellow, and she looks at me like i'm crazy saying, "it wouldn't be yellow it has pink undertones". I tried it one more time and before even looking, the lady leaves saying come find her. If i'm coming to your store to look for a product, and even verbally ask for help, I would expect some hospitality and true help instead of just "do this do that". +The shades she gave me and my friend were way off, but she ran off before she could even see how bad it looked Anyway it's been multiple times where i've come in and gotten treated poorly solely to the fact that Im younger, and they connect younger people to stealing. Environment attracts a customer, and I don't think i'll be a customer at this location anymore thank you! read more

I won't go to ulta for a year or so and then when enough time has passed and I begin to forget why I hate it here, I'll go back. Today didn't disappoint. Why isn't there some kind of system for workers on the floor so they realize how many times a customer has been asked if they need help? I had a bunch of stuff in my bag and I had to put it all away and leave after the 12th time asked how I'm doing or trying to tell me what's on sale today or asking if I'm signed up for bonus points or whatever. Ulta, your workers are bored silly or administrators are micromanaging sales people into a feeding frenzy. It's not an enjoyable shopping experience. Hopefully you'll figure this out and direct the workers on the floor to stop harassing customers sometime here soon. It's just unbearable. It's been a long day and I don't want to engage in small talk with every single worker in the Calabasas ulta. I'm pretty sure they'd be happier not having to chase customers around all day. read more

showed up to my eyebrow app 30 min early they told me to walk around the store for 30 min when the time of my appointment had arrived I looked for the lady I went to the front and they said she's not in today she sick... when I asked how they could accommodate they handed me a 30 Percent of coupon. Also the last time I was in they sold me the wrong color after color matching me and wouldn't take it back even though it was unopened because it had passed the amount of time... Le'Shay killed it! I had a slight issue with the previous service... My hair wouldn't take the 2 applications ... I'm sure part of it was my hair is just stubborn, but lesson learned that you can't really go from brown hair of any shade to red without going back to the base.Le'Shay definitely knew what she was doing and corrected the issue no questions asked. I recommend her to anyone who's looking for a great colorist! I was almost tempted to not go back only because I thought I was getting one of the best the first time around and had my doubts but my gut told me not to give up. This is the 3rd time I've come to this location after work just to find that they've locked the doors well before the time posted 9pm closing. . Today it was 845pm. Last time it was 854pm. Time before that it was 841pm. I drive all the way out here with gas prices being unreal for us here in California just to see a bunch of associates sharing their head "sorry we're closed" well before it states on the website, here on yelp or even on the front doors of the store for crying out loud! I can't imagine how many sales have been lost due to a few employees wanting to leave early. My advice. Don't work the night shift. All I know is that it's frustrating as hell and a huge waste of time and gas when u drive all the way out to a spot just to find out that I should have never counted on the hours posted. My advice is to officially change this location's closing time to 8:30pm and have it posted clearly for your customers to see. No brainer. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge lover of the Ulta stores. I was in the Calabasas store today and overheard what turned out to be the manager complaining about an associate to another associate on the floor. As a customer I don't want to hear that. Additionally it is very unprofessional to discuss associate issues with other associates. The manager is young and definitely needs training. I wanted so badly to pull this young woman aside and explain to her that managers are there to build teams not tear them down. Do better Ulta. Train your people leaders. Customers don't want or need to hear about associate issues. read more

I was in the store tonight at 6pm when they were robbed right in front of me. The poor young girls that work there said it happens at least once a week. It was confirmed by several employees at Trader Joe's next door. Wow, the company knows it and does not provide security for the girls who work there or their customers. I decided to try false lashes at the Benefit Brow Bar - Ulta Calabasas location. The person there applied temporary lashes using a semi-permanent glue, which I didn't know at the time. She told me they would last "for up to 5 days." After 6 days, they were making my eyes itchy and nothing I used worked to remove them. After 7 days, I went back to Ulta and they were not helpful. I ended up paying over $45 to get the lashes removed using professional solvent at an eyelash studio. The esthetician at the studio had to apply the solvent twice. She said that in her opinion, the person at Ulta had applied 5x more glue than necessary, that it was the wrong kind of glue for temporary lashes and that she had attached one false eyelash cluster to multiple lashes instead of just one, which can cause natural lashes to rip out because they grow at different speeds. As a result of using this service, I lost a chunk of my natural lashes days before scheduled engagement photos. This situation was handled poorly from the employee level all the way up to management. I was told by the store manager that it was a "learning opportunity" for her staff. At this point, three months later, my lashes still haven't grown back. read more
