Designed for probably no more than 18-20 people, at first glance it looks like a big hot tub or trampoline in the River. In some ways it's a bit of both. You'll find it by meandering your way past the parking lot, beyond the sand volleyball courts, and past the basketball court to the aluminum ramp at the north edge of the park overlooking the bridge. Thankfully, the aluminum ramp means you don't need to climb sharp rocks or weed through lillypads to get into the water, instead you just walk right into the little rainbow colored plastic pool ring and land on a nylon netting that prevents you from walking on river mud. On a hot August day, it's a refreshing way to cool off and enjoy the park. You'd think that would make it busy, but in the prime afternoon heat on a Saturday, there were only 6 people in the pool, with a couple parents on the sidelines. Just in case you need a bit of privacy before getting in the pool, there are porta potties and even a curtained changing area. So many conveniences, and all without park fees. A gem for families in Beacon and for visitors who want to expand their stay beyond Dia and Main St. Bonus tip: go on Sunday and make a picnic from vendors at the local farmer's market on the river dock.

Dennis Galderisi answered the phone and from his the very first words my anxiety came down. Dennis was absolutely great. He clearly knows everything to know about pools and he answered my many questions with tremendous patience. He addressed my cost concerns by suggesting a tailored maintenance approach to how we will use the pool and suggested a number of ways we could do some of the basics and save money. His approach and manner felt sincere and honest. My next step is to get to his store and meet him in person. I am comfortable that I have found a pool professional who I can trust.

We've…read moremade quite a list of good playgrounds in the tri-state area, but one of our absolute favorites is Julie's Jungle in Hopewell Junction, New York. Inceptioned in 2012, the playground was named after Julie Keating. Young Julie was afflicted with both physical and cognitive disabilities and was often unable to join in on the fun at her local park. She tragically passed away in 2007 at the age of 15. Her younger sister Natalie later wrote a letter to the East Fishkill recreation committee asking them to build a handicapped-accessible playground. The town accepted the proposal. Phase I of the playground opened in 2016 and Phase II was completed in 2018. Julie's Jungle was the first fully accessible playground built in Dutchess County. It was built for children of all abilities to play and learn together. It's equipped with accessible routes and paths throughout, ramps, spacious decks, short stair heights, Braille play panels, and even a sensory garden. Whenever my family and I are passing through the area, we always make a point to stop at Julie's Jungle. Both of my sons love playing here. They have so much fun that our visits seem to end in the blink of an eye. We wish that more playgrounds were like this. FUN FACT: For those parents like me who enjoy good craft beer and wood-fired pizza, Sloop Brewing Company is just a three-minute drive away!

It's not a park where someone will find only one to choose from, but there is multiple things that are offered. First off, there is a playground for the kids to use with a reasonable size featuring swings and also a recently updated section of little rides. They also provide a soccer and a baseball field mainly used for school teams, but it's still open to anyone. Last but not least, there is a path that does a loop around a lake which isn't long. Doing three laps would make it a mile. The only reason I'm leaving out a star is because of the path not being maintained. I've noticed some things on the ground where it shouldn't be, and it needs to be picked up. Just be on the look out for it. Other than that, it's worth a visit.

I was initially getting quotes and ideas to see which route to take. I wish I could remember the ladies name (maybe Robin), but it's been a few months now. Anyhow, she came out during her scheduled time and was extremely knowledgeable! I felt comfortable and confident with her comments and suggestions and was looking forward to getting a quote back from her. I asked if she did the work herself and she said, "yes, mostly." So intrigued and ready for a woman powerhouse to make my pool into an oasis and she never sent a quote! I called a few times and was told she needed more time. I believe I contacted her 2 more times but she stopped picking up calls. I'm guessing she had something happen, because although I don't know her at all... it seems strange someone would fall off this way. Anyhow, I did get my pool cleared up and fixed by doing it myself. I did take some of her suggestions. I don't think I would've ventured on my own if she had reached back out because I was dead set on using her company. In the long run I saved money, but really feel she had my best interest at heart.
