Secondary, until this year, the school was open for everyone . students arrived late without any supervision or intervention from the staff. I had experienced to be on the hallway for 45 minutes (waiting for my kid whose forgot something at home due that day) without any question from anyone from the office (after people don't understand why it has lot of schools' attack . we can come in and out as we want even the students.) Third, even though your kid gives their best, volunteering, helping teachers etc, they aren't rewarded for their implication for the school. Fourth, disappointed by the seniors' year where students do nothing all year long during class and have few assignments as homework during the time that juniors year was crazy on homework weekend included but nothing teached in class as a result students stayed till 3 in the morning to finish their assignment. And last but not least, the seniors counselor is not helpful for the students for their futur. She doesn't answer any question so students have to figure out by themselves what to do after high school and how to get any help for scholarship, to reduce the University price. For a big school, don't expect to be considered . only if you give money at each request (and it has a lot ) maybe you can expect some consideration but not sure by experience, otherwise choose another school.

When the year first started I'd have given this school 1 star. I was looking at other schools and…read moreeven *seriously* considering homeschooling. I did not and still do not like the principal - she seems very plastic to me and usually sporting an expression like she has no idea what's going on but is doing a good job of faking it. The very first day when we were doing things "wrong" she in a very rude tone asked had we been at parent/teacher night before school started and we said no we were out of town. I didn't feel like there was a problem as I had spoken to my son's teacher before the first day. But what anyone neglected to mention was anything about procedures for dropping and picking children up so when the principal spoke to us using terms as if we had any idea what she was referring to it furthered my dislike of her. I have since learned this is her very first year not only at this school but as a principal period. That explained a lot. She's desperately trying to show off her capability but is going about it with too much effort so she looks scattered in anything she does. Parents are allowed to drop kid off in the morning after signing in at the office which includes them scanning your photo ID and being given a sticker with your ID and where you will be printed upon it. But parents are not even allowed into the building in the afternoon for pick up - not even the Pre K or kindergartners for supposed security reasons. Why it's different for the afternoon than morning is anyone's best guess. They are constantly begging for volunteers and cannot seem to figure out why they have so few when they have such a cold, unwelcoming, unfriendly policy for/with the parents. The very first week my 5 year old in his first year was given homework! This shock and astounded me in a very bad way. I even asked my father for confirmation and he agreed that when I was in school we didn't start getting homework until second grade. It's a very tedious "chore" to make a child that young sit and do a worksheet or two a night. I'm still not thrilled with it but there's not much I can do unless I do want to remove him from the public school system. I had problems with his teacher at first. My child had never been in any kind of school environment and I made this very well known to her. The 2nd or 3rd week of school she sent a note home 3 out of 5 days saying my child didn't do his work and would I talk to him about that! That upset me in about 18 different colours! What did she want *me* to do about a problem she was having with my child during *her* time with him. I was not going to punish him or curtail any activities because at age 5 he would have already dismissed anything said to him by her earlier in the day. A meeting was scheduled for myself, his teacher and the counselor. Then hurricane Ike hit! The school was closed for a week and two days. They opened a Wed almost 2 weeks before HISD did though the vast majority of teachers' and students' homes still had no power or water. I still find this lapse inexcusable! How could staff members properly prepare for a day with no water or power? How could parents properly prepare their children for school without power or water. Oh they said it was perfectly okay to not being the kids if there was no power or water on - it would just be excused absences. But now my child has 3 absences on his record that I do not think should be there at all! After the time off from the hurricane when he did get back to school my child suddenly got right into the swing of things and all the skills I'd told them he already possessed came shining through. A meeting was scheduled for me his teacher and the counselor only for a different reason this time. They asked was I okay having him go over to one of the First grade classes for reading and having him nominated for the gifted and talented program after the winter break was over? No I have no problem with that at all. I have since volunteered for the book fair {I got horribly sick too}. And have a much better relationship with his teacher and most of the staff. I am not sure if I will ever warm up to the principal ever.

Kleb enforces dumb rules such as a ban of keychains on IDs because they can't "see the id". The dress code also sucks here. It's not enforced on you if you're popular trendy white (or a black kid pulling your pants below your ahh), but if you dress alternative or POC, it's placed upon you. I have seen shorts so short I could see butt cheeks but you can apparently get dressed coded for a tail. A lot of teachers SUCK. Whether it's creepy teachers or teachers that don't teach, most suck in some way. You do however, have like 12 good teachers, but those are usually for CTE,Fine Arts, or social studies. The Staff suck the most though. They can't do their job properly. Most students feel unheard. They tend to ignore reports that students make when uncomfortable of a teacher, and even if they try, blame is immediately put on the student.In May, a lot of Klein ISD schools were recognizing Mental Health Month, and Kleb completely ignored it and only celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week (which there is not much to appreciate). Teachers have seen students struggling (like if a student has visible cuts from self harm) and nothing is done. The school is also sorta homophobic. There was a gym teacher that wouldn't let my friends hug or sit close together because they were gay. Subtle bullying is also a problem here. Some kids think they rule because of their skin color or their trendiness. They make fun of other kids for things like hair color, sexuality, gender, fashion style, pronouns , etc. Please avoid this school at all costs. You"re better off homeschooling or sending them somewhere else. Even though they have high grades, safety is more important then education.

The playground is slowly but surely getting an update as well. My child loves it here and I've not had any complaints. The staff is friendly and I feel that my child is in good hands. They also have a curriculum that they follow now so the kids learn a lot more than before. My child is always coming home with stories of what they learned that day. I am unsure why it was appropriate for her to ask if my child's father & I were together or if he was involved while discussing allergies. I have wondered if it is because she is biracial. When introducing myself and asking her name she clutched her pearls and took a step back while she said "Andrea, the Owner of the school!". There is a nasty presence underneath those pearls.
