We came down on Friday one of us let the freezer door stay open, therefore the freezer was open for two weeks ugh! We reset the breaker but the Fridge section would not cool down.....called Ulmer's and the nice man told us to try turning it off and letting the frozen conduits defrost for 6 hours and try again. We did that and voila! it worked. Love that he let us try that before doing a service call! Would highly recommend! read more

Called Ulmer appliance about ice maker freezing up he showed up in couple hours and said blower needed to be replaced around $450 I told him to proceed and he did the job. A week later I had the same issue and called when he showed up he said it was the ice maker valve . When I told him it's the same issue he got defensive and arrogant said he would have to order a part and would be back the next day. It's been 2 weeks never called and never showed up. Charged me $475 + for a part that wasn't bad and never returned to fix the cause of the issue. Plenty of reputable appliance repair companies around the Shore towns don't use Ulmer. read more

I'm home for Christmas and realized that my oven was not working (after I had committed to hosting Cookie Night, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day for our family!!). I called Ulmer's and they picked up immediately, asked for some specifics about our issue, and said they'd try to squeeze us in the same day, possibly the next morning. Not only did they get to us the same day, they showed up EARLY! After checking the stove, the tech went to his truck and came back with the part to fix the oven and save our Christmas plans with our family. He even stayed for about 20 minutes to make sure that the oven was truly fixed. I will recommend Ulmer's to anyone in Cape May County. First Class Service all the way!! read more

Extremely unprofessional. Waited all day for someone to come out and help us with a broken fridge at our rental in OCNJ. Mr.Ulmer and an assistant showed up, peeked behind the fridge, and told us that the reason the fridge wasn't working was because the air conditioner was running too much. Mr.Ulmer got very defensive with any questions, claiming he was the "Doctor" and that we were challenging him and his opinion, when we were simply just trying to understand. He became more and more frustrated with us, told us to call the land lord, and left. He was here for 5 minutes, if that. Would not recommend. read more

Called early on Sunday for a refrigerator that was reportedly behaving badly, Ulmers was on site in under 2 hours. This is a trust worthy organization. My refrigerator was working fine and was reported non functioning by a renter who filled it with warm stuff. I quickly got a report back of the situation. Service tech came out on a Sunday . We had rented a summer home. Washing machine had a problem and wasn't operating right. He ordered the part, came in Tuesday am. Machine was operating by 11:15 am. Qwik and prompt. Heard tech on phone with a customer having an issue with their appliance. He walked them through basic troubleshooting tips to help them from a possible wasted call on a ex: wall gfi being tripped or tripped breaker. Good guy, good company! read more

Ulmer's appliance was recommended by my neighbor who used them to fix his washing machine. I was in need of a new ice machine as mine was leaking pretty badly. An Appointment was available within 24 hours of me calling. The repair man was on time and a very nice guy and he explained the repair and my ice machine was fixed in a little over an hour. I called the Ulmer's with the Avalon/Stone Harbor number. On May 18 the service person, Matt, came out. Said the problem with the washer, aside from the fact that all washers made in the last 20 years were crap, was the sensor. Fast forward a few days we went to use the washer. It was not fixed. My brother & I tried to reset the sensor but the washer still did not work. I went home and when I came back I called Ulmer's again. They would be out sometime today. At 4:15 my husband called to see if they were coming and commented that we had waited all day for them. They call only when you are next. Comcast at least gives you a four hour window. The response to my husband's mild complaint was that perhaps we should find another company to use. I will indeed. read more

It's a problem when the food in your refrigerator is frozen solid. That's what prompted us to call. The service man who showed up did so as promised and on time. Good! But he came in with a snotty attitude, and the minute I told him that we had a maintenance contract he got smart with me. "We won't get paid" he blurted out. I told him that we would pay him and that the maintenance company will reimburse us as part of our plan. He hesitated to even look at the refrigerator. When he did he started getting dramatic about how much it would cost, almost assuming it was out of our comfort level. He made snide and sarcastic remarks to both of us, got in his truck promising to give us an estimate and all we saw was his tailpipe. Crickets. I would no more recommend this place than a stranger on the street. It could have just been that particular mechanic but between his smart remarks to us and leaving us high and dry...I can't say anything good. Buyer beware. read more
