The staff is pretty good, but the food sucks. Nothing is fresh and the kitchen doesn't always follow the requirements of each patient.

Dr Young has been seeing me for 5 years now. I'm writing to give my highest recommendation for Dr…read moreYoung . First the backstory: I have lived with chronic pain my entire life, literally from the day I was born. I have a congenital birth defect that was not diagnosed until I was 55 years old. Rather than making my pain better, the surgery they did to remove the mass they discovered in my pre-sacral body cavity turned out to dramatically increase it. During this time period, I was treated by the pain clinic at Stanford Hospital. They were excellent, and I felt Based on my experience that they deserved their reputation as one of the best pain clinics in the country. Still, my pain worsened Along with my PTSD and I ended up having to move from the congested mid-Peninsula Town of Palo Alto to Ukiah. I was referred to Dr Young and after literally Decades of seeing pain doctors either did not understand, did not deeply listen, or did not have their focus on me. Dr Young has helped me get off of methadone-It has been 3 years now. He has worked with me to find the most effective medication for procedure for me that has the lowest side effect and risk profile. He is always willing to offer me new ideas and possible solutions to my predicament. Perhaps the greatest thing he has given me is Hope. At one point I had an accidental overdose. When I woke up in the emergency room the first face I saw was Dr Young at my bedside. He reached over and gave me a deep long hug. Not the kind of thing a doctor does. I start to cry when I think about it now. He stayed within healthy doctor/patient boundaries yet managed to give me a level of support I did not receive from anyone in my family.

Dr. Young began seeing me through referral in 2013. It's now 2021. We've been through a lot, trying…read moremany procedures, surgeries , medications and have built up a trust I've only had with just one other doctor & I'm 67 years old now. He actually pulls his chair closer ( before C19) to talk to you, so you really know he listens. He continually expands his knowledge in the field of pain management, networking with colleagues (friends) from even Japan for me. He's brilliant and wants to work with you not just for you. If he, or I, had to move, I'd drive to wherever he is for appointments . He works 24 hours a day I think. You become a team for your health & if you are willing to put the work in you will get better. He has told me I should have been in a walker or more years ago. I told him I'm too stubborn for that. Some days it is hard to get out of bed I'min so much physical pain whereupon, I've called him on weekends or after hours and he has never derided me for calling & always supportive and caring, wanting to help. If you are really a team player, get a referral if he is still accepting. Get ready to not just take pills...

If you can get an appointment the care is fair, but... you have to wait weeks (if not months!), If…read moreyou are having a crisis and need medication adjustments or refills, good bloody luck! The assistants answer the phone and are mostly empathetic, but NO ONE EVER CALLS YOU BACK!!! You are left to your own medical care or you can go to the hospital and hope for space at a mental health unit somewhere in the state, or you can be given enough meds for a couple days with directions to visit your doctor/mental health care giver for medications and care, well as previously stated NO ONE EVER CALLS YOU BACK AND APPOINTMENTS TAKE FOR EVER TO GET. People in the area wonder why there are so many homeless / sick homeless, well it's because if they get themselves good and have a productive life, and can actually afford to pay rent!, when they do get sick, they continue to get so sick because they can't even get basic care during crises events to help regulate their mental state, they end up so sick they wind up loosing everything and sleeping in doorways so far gone that if they don't have family to help them, they can never find their footing again!!!!! HIRE MORE DOCTORS!!!!! Not sure about other counties in California, but Mendocino County's mental health services are pitiful!
